I got Sadallah by a very decisive victory.....Leban will more than likely take silva....however the only fight anyone should care about is diaz-Maynard.....If Maynard wins he is likely BJ Penn's next opponent....

The only thing that matters for me is Silva and Blackburn.

As for Maynard fighting Penn if he wins....I can't see anyone beating Penn at this point. Dude is one of the best MMA fighters I've ever seen in any class.

well you might be in for a let down then....

and as far as BJ no one see's a dominate fighter like him losing....untill they lose....he has to fight someone....
maynard, frankie edgar & tyson griffin are his next 3 fights (in no particular order)as long as he keeps winning...

I'm more nervous about Brad than I am Jay, Brad just came off of shoulder surgery (labrum) about 6-8months ago and it's been bothering him which hindered our training when he's here. But he wasn't 100% when be beat the hell out of Giboo, Ryo Chonan and Edgar Garcia.

well I wouldn't say he beat the hell out of Ryo or Edgar but he did win the fights by decision(split decision I believe but not sure)....I just don't see him being able to handle sadallahs ground game....& with leban coming of 2 loses to rosholt & bisbing he knows if he loses Monday he's out of the UFC so I see him coming in extra prepaired and ready for anything....

Maynard should be too much for Diaz.

As for Hand Grenade v. Baroni?  Grenade all day.

I like Maynard's chances against Penn. Maynard showed against Edgar how much he's improved his striking and he presents a Matt Hughes type challenge for Penn. The guys who have beaten Penn have taken him down, beaten him on the ground, and immobilized his BJJ. I think Maynard has the best shot right now. I don't think Edgar can hold BJ down if he gets a takedown.

Obviously, I think Maynard is the worst possible opponent for Diaz, who has trouble getting to his feet with strong wrestlers on him.

Amir's got that Forrest Griffin self deprecating humor.

His match with Baroni was certainly one sided once Phil started gassing. You'd think he'd have improved his cardio by working with Couture but I guess not.

No way.  Maynard was getting routinely mauled when JD Penn brought him in for a camp to help in BJ's fight prep a few years ago.  And as much has Maynard has improved, so has BJ.  BJ's striking is light years ahead of Maynards and he will end the fight on the feet like he did against Sanchez.

GSP is ten times the wrestler Maynard is.  And lets not forget, he decimated Hughes the first time they fought, and that was the fat, out of shape, "I train one hour a day six times a week" BJ Penn.

Lets not jump the gun...Maynard may not get past diaz....diaz has sick submission skills...I know he doesn't do as well vs good wrestlers but he can be losing a fight badly & still pull a submission out of his ass at any time....

as far as BJ....When He's fully focused and well trained no one at 155lbs can touch him....but he is very rich & can get complacant from time to time....and if that happens his cardio & conditioning always suffer...It only takes one time...one can get to comfortable & if that happens the hungrier up & comers like Maynard,Frankie Edgar,Tyson griffin will get the upset win and shock the world....

anyone is beatable...BJ's record is 15-5-1...& he isn't getting any younger & your gonna see an influx of great young athletes in there early 20's that have trained there entire lives for MMA competition coming soon...granted BJ is better now than at any other time in his career he will be beaten again....mark my words....

BJ's five losses are to Jens Pulver, GSP twice, Hughes once and that guy named Lyoto.

Only Jens was at LHW.  All of the others were to guys outside of his division.  He also has beaten a lot of heavier fighters.

I'm aware of who he has beat & been beaten by bro...I've been watchin MMA for the better part of 15 years...no casual fan here....
And as I said when diaz is on his game theres no one at 155lbs that can hang with him.....that being said there are numerous fighters threwout the history of MMA & boxing that people claimed were unstoppable or wouldn't get beat by so and so.....usually when this happens a fighter often starts believing there own hype thats being written & reported about them....mix that with the fact they often become complacent & R not as hungry as the up & comers and you have a recipe for an upset.....No one thought Mike Tyson would fall until he did now lookin back you could see it coming...Hell I remember tons of people on this site and other forums just 3-4 years ago talking about how unstopable chuck liddell was...not compairing chuck to BJ at all just compairing what people were saying(theres thousands of examples like this)....another thing is age is the great equalizer and although BJ is not necessarily old he's no spring chicken either....Bj will be beaten and it will be sooner than most people think....It always is.....

BJ is the best no doubt, but to consider him the ALL time best, BJ still has yet to fight Diaz, maynard, edgar, aoki, alvarez, melendez, thompson, cerrone for him to have dominate the LW and then think about a move to WW

Truth is he probably will only fight 4-5 times and retire for good, once champions fighters tend to fight once a year ex lesnar, GSP, silva, every strikeforce champ,

I was one of them who said Chuck would be beaten by a better striker who could wrestle.

BJ, as long as he stays motivated, will not lose at 155.  As opined, he will prolly have, at a maximum 5-6 fights left in him.  I hope he moves up to 170.

Because of this man, it just might be Chris Leben's last hurrah in the UFC and look for a tough fight for Amir Sadollah from "Bad Brad Blackburn"

Frankie Edgar next in line for B.J. Penn
January 12, 2010 09:01 PM

Article from the frontpage of cagepotato.com:

Frankie Edgar next in line to get beat up by B.J. Penn

We can't say we didn't see this coming. After Gray Maynard's lackluster win over Nate Diaz on last night's UFC Fight Night 20, Dana White tells MMAFighting.com that Frankie Edgar will get the next shot at lightweight champ B.J. Penn, tentatively scheduled for UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi this April. Edgar last fought at the TUF 10 Finale on December 10, where he submitted Matt Veach with a rear naked choke in the second round. Funny, we don't recall a chorus of voices rising up in the wake of that victory to declare Edgar the consensus number one contender, but maybe that's just because we didn't watch the fight in New Jersey.

But seriously, you don't have to be a genius to figure out that Edgar earned this shot primarily by process of elimination. After Penn smoked Diego Sanchez, it came down to Edgar or Maynard. Fortunately for Edgar, "The Bully" managed to win in the least impressive fashion possible, so he gets the shot by default, even though Maynard ran through him with relative ease at UFC Fight Night 13.

Is it kind of unfair that a guy Maynard beat, who's coming off a win over a relative UFC novice, is getting the shot just because his own win wasn't quite exciting enough? No, it's not kind of unfair. It's totally unfair. But that's life in the fight game. Video of Dana White explaining the thin rationale behind the fight, as well as why he decided to sell 10% of his company essentially to the government of Abu Dhabi, is after the jump.
