One of the guys I train with. He has done one strongman and one powerlifting meet. For some reason he does not like to compete very much.

Now, I'm sure he's strong dude and all, but he's getting some serious bounce off those mats. He's literally letting that bar drop the last 6" and catching on the upstroke. Am I missing something?

Ya, he is bouncing it. He still needs to lock it out though. The next closest guy in this event had 14 or 16 reps I think. If he had to pause each rep, I would guess that he could have still got 18 reps or so.

Randy something. I dont remember his last name. He was/is a competitor on the Canadian strongman circuit. Haha everything he had was rehband.

Do you know what his max is?

Off the top of my head I think his max was like 680lbs. He also pulled 725 or 765 on a trap bar. He also squats 500+ and has a max bench of 345 all raw at about 250lbs or so.

Mods: why do you feel the need to change thread titles?
Please stop.
Thanks.

Oh come on chimps, the average getbigger could let that drop from waist high and still not pull it above their knees......

If he's pulling 500 for 23, his max should be over 680...

I'm sure the average GBer couldn't get 500lbs to their knees, Show. My point was that this seems to be some kind of 'meet' with even a 'judge' to assess the reps and they seem to have spring mats for the DL event!?

I agree. He has a lot of grip issues, he tore his hand open bad a couple times trying to max out. He pulls low to mid 700s on a trap bar.

It was a local strongman event. They were fairly easy going on lockout. The pads were like half sized stretching mats. It was like pulling off a quarter inch board. I dont pull touch and go so I dont have much to compare it to but I would guess they were no more springy than any other floor.
