White House Believes 'Liberal Angst' Over Healthcare Will Go Away
by Donna Smith
In an NPR story this week, White House aides and Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer summed it up: (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12... )
White House aides believe a lot of the liberal angst about health care will go away once the president actually signs a bill. And to the extent that the Democrats have a problem motivating their core voters, they've got time to fix it.
"We're not overly concerned about these things, first and foremost because there isn't an election tomorrow, not an election the next day," says Dan Pfeiffer, White House communications director.
Our angst will not go away anytime soon.
When we see our paystubs and our tax returns reflect the collection of our hard-earned money for the huge bail-out of the for-profit, private insurance industry instead of for the guaranteed right to healthcare, we will feel angst. When we are forced to purchase the defective financial product sold to us as health insurance or face penalties or even criminal charges, we will feel angst.
When we continue to have trouble affording truly comprehensive health coverage that provides a single standard of high quality care for all, we will feel angst.
When we cannot see a doctor without paying a big co-pay or deductible, when we bury a child whose treatment was denied by the insurance company, when we avoid seeking care because we cannot afford our medicines, when our employers cut our benefits to avoid paying the excise tax, when the insurance company CEOs continue to earn mega-salaries, obscene bonuses and retire with huge golden parachutes funded by our tax subsidies, when thousands of our neighbors and friends still go bankrupt because their coverage just wasn't good enough to protect them - oh, we will feel angst.
I am sorry, Dan, this is an angst that is loaded down with intense human suffering. It isn't just political or ethical or intellectual bantering angst. It is very real human angst caused by those with prideful, haughty attitudes who cared little about promises made and the human right to healthcare so boldly proclaimed.

Another reason this WH really is no different than GWB.
This is no different than GWB in 2005 when he tried amnesty and though the base would come back.
Good luck Obama - you truly are a POFS!
-
240 - will spin some bs on this.
This is no different than what GWB did with amnesty for illegal aliens. After that - he lost the base for good.
-
hahaha as i said all along... as rudy said on larry king this week... and as the white house is now admitting... obama will swing center come election time and win his ppl back.
of course, people here disagreed, and that is their right.
-

Idiots, dupes, and morons for Obama 2012!
-
both parties do it really. just politics as usual dude. pendulum and all that good stuff. will be like this 100 years from now.
-

Unreal. So you have no problem with this because you think its a pendulum or some stuff like that?
-
i don't have a prob with it because it's inevitable and has been happening since politics began.
i mean i could have a prob with it, but it won't change anything.
i also have a problem with meteors falling from sky, rainy days and engines on my truck that wear out. but it's inevitable.
-
they're 100% pissed today. that will be 60% pissed in six months. And 20% pissed in 3 years.... if that...
Toss in a right-wing, anti-abortion candidate who takes the bible literally and you'll have every maddow and olbermann peeing down their own legs to rally the anti-repub vote come 2012.
-

Yeah, when UE is 11.5% people are really going to care about that. 240 - I serious dont get you. To you, it seems as though nothing matters so long as the political game is played well.
-
well i am a fan of politics. i can admire mccain picking a palin to seduce 18 million 'cracks', sexually repressed men, and of course, bible thumpers - despite her being unqualified.
I can admire obama toppling the rove and clinton machines. I can admire anyone who is shrewd and plays the game well.
My side is libertarian and 'true' sensible republicans, but i can admire the others as well.
-
actually, if it was at 11.5% UE.... I think people would become used to it very quickly.
Hell, we're not complaining as gas hits $3 now... because we've been conditioned to accept anything less than $4 to be acceptable.
I think gold confidence will shake (see that rumor samson posted?) and dollar will bounce back, which will help things. And yes, even if it's at 11.5% in 2012, I don't think that will completely cost obama the election. Heck, it could drop down to 8.75% tomorrow and they'd all be dancing on the streets, thanking Obama for the good work... LMAO...
-
Celente describes it exactly about the democrat party from about 27 minutes in.
-
good post.
240 is a libertarian as Barry is.
-
yeah, i can admire a politician who plays the politics game well.
i know that 70% of the dem platform is BS. And I know that 30% of the repub platform is BS. And I know they both work for rich people.
Some people are closed-minded, and think any compliment to a party means you're knee-padding for them. Obama didn't get my vote and neither did Mccain. I'm the guy talking NFL playoffs when my own team the Bucs is in the draft lottery. I don't *love* any of the 8 teams left, but I still watch closely and love every minute of it. I still root for ray lewis to knock tom brady's pretty block off, and I still root against Aaron Rodgers cause I hate his beard. Am I kneepadding for the ravens? Nah.
-
look, I may be wrong, just my opinion, but to me it seems like 240 posts a lot from an analytical point of view. That is he is not putting his personal views into his posts as much as he is putting a removed perspective into his posts. It's like me guessing the Chargers are going to win this week even though I don't want them to win. If I up and say the Chargers are going to win, does that mean I'm rooting for them? Or am I removed and making an unbiased judgement call? I think the Chargers are going to win and I fucking hate Rivers with a passion.
zingo bingo.
-
"240 is a libertarian as Barry is. "
I don't get this. I was wearing harry browne bumper stickers and attending libertarian meetings in 2000 when many of the getbig 'repubs' were still clinton/gore voters.
I'm pro-gun, anti-welfare, anti-criminal, anti-douchebag, anti-immigration, and I would personally cap 5 terrorists before eating a ham sandwich off their carcasses while the rest of the 'repubs' here fumbled with their cell phone calling 911 for help.
Just because I agree with some Obama positions or actions, i'm a kneepadder. whatever...

If you agree with Barry, you are not a libertarian 240. 240 - if you wanted the stim bill you are not a libertarian. 240 - if you think we should have a health bill that involved the govt spending money for health care in any fashion as exposed you are not a libertarian.
Being a libertarian is not a bumper sticker, its a mind set.
You dont have it bro.

Muthafuckin BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Oh come on, that was a slam dunk and no response.
That is why Barry is trying to ram amnesty for illegals through this year.
He knows that his kamakazi national suicide agenda is turning millions against him but figures he can convince the hapless illegals to vote for him in 2012.
Seriously, why would anyone paying taxes vote for him? I seriously cant think of one solitary reason why anyone who pays taxes would vote for him or any democrat in 2010 or 2012.
-
"If you agree with Barry, you are not a libertarian 240. "
Disagree.
IMO, anyone who agrees with 100% of his party platforms isn't thinking for himself.

Tell me what policy you agree with of his and how is comports with your "libertarian" philosophy.

stimulating the economy, savings the banks to keep the dollar afloat.
true libertarian platform would have called for allowing the buck to collapse and letting us all hunt one another and rebuild things. I'm not down for that.
-
neither side can lose 4%. Will 2 in 25 Obama voters (4% of 53%) stay home in 2012? It's possible.
GOP lost 18% of their voters in 2008 (from 04) and lost 53 to 46 (or something like that)
sorry i can't reply fast enough today

IF YOU SUPPORT "STIMULUATING THE ECONOMY" VIA SOCIAL PROGRAMS AND GOVT SPENDING, THEN YOU ARE NOT A LIBERTARIAN 240.
-
well, that's your opinion. I'm against welfare, i'm against unemployment benefits past 4 weeks, i'm against many social programs.
I support keeping our currency alive. Sorry if that doesn't fit the party guidelines. You talk about civil war 2 and end of days like it's some big party. I dont look fwd to a time like that. Sure, I have my guns and I've trained for years, but I'd prefer not to have to shoot skells on my lawn on a daily basis lol...
-
shit man, sorry, i skimmed past the posts with numbers so that i could finish my argument with 33, i'm not dodging it, i just couldn't get to pc...
i dont think healthcare backlash/pissed off libs will have a meaningful effect on 2012. 2010 maybe. But everybody on both side forgets what they hate about their own guy, cause they hate the other party's guy worse.
-
based on the last 3 presidential elections, do you think either side can afford to lose even 5%?
If Obama lost 5% of his vote, he would lose, yes.... well actually it depends where that 5% went. if a tea party candidate stole 5% of obama's 53% from 2008... he'd still be at 48%... and mccain only got 46% last time.
-

They will forget about Health Care because there will be far worse and even more pressing outrages to deal with from this admn.
BTW 240 - Obama is destroying the dollar not saving it.
-
it's gray areas.
without the stim bill and tarp, what would the DOW be today? Where would our 401k's be? Would China have dumped the dollar? Would we be at war? Would Bush have declared martial law as threatened? Without a reliable currency, where would UE be?
I can't answer these things, can you?

That is why you and I are different. You buy into those scare tacicts from Obama, I d'ont.
Thats like saying its ok if someones KTF'os you and then Hugo comes along and says - "at least he didnt shoot you." You then say "Yeah, I guess he was right at least I'm not dead."
Come on 240 - do some damn research on these issues.
-
actually it wasn't obama that threatened Republicans with martial law if the bill didn't pass.
And i think the dollar/economy would have been damaged worse if automakers had failed. if banks had failed. if all insurance companies failed.
-

I never favored TARP - Bush/Obama Geitner/Paulson did.
-
most of both parties favored tarp. You (more than anyone) knows the white house occupant just follows marching orders. mccain would have done the same. it was one of those unavoidable things.
when the cops, bank tellers, bank ceo, and bank robbers all want there to be a robbery, it doesn't matter how much the customers in the lobby doth protest :)

Not true! Remember the house GOP did not go for it and first vote failed?
-
then, what happened?
the bank tellers were all told they'd get $100 cash to just go along with teh robbery.
Well, they added pork to keep each house member happy...

Yea I can answer some of those things but again, that's not what's important. It's a diversion at best. Will Obama lose somewhere around 5% for a year of progressives being spat on? I would say that's a conservative estimate lol.... It could be worse knowing the libs I know.
Like I also said earlier, the only way Obama gets away with this crap is if he's running against an extreme. Then that makes one ask, how did he know he could get away with these things now? If not for preordained assurances?
-

If the base volunteers for him again, shame on them and they are no different than the worst of the Bushbots.

no way O gets the turnout in 12 that he got in 08. I mean, people were voting against bush, waiting in lines a mile long in georgia, 2 weeks before the election!
But healthcare is gonna be history by then. so much shit could happen in 3 years. this healthcare bill will not be a huge thing then.
Hell, once american idol's new season starts tomorrow, it'll be old news :P

well yea, no doubt. 3 years. But if Obama doesn't think he's got ground to make up with his base and they'll just "fogetaboutit" fuck that, ain't happening bubba. Now if he makes up the difference in 3 years, that's all up to him. I won't hold my breath based on this first year lol...... Yea and keep in mind, once you've been imbedded in the mind as a jackass, you have even more ground to make up beyond what you fucked people over on.

Not when their boss hands them a pink slip because the costs of DeathCare are too expensive and these people are left begging for Wendy's jobs.
Not when 12 million illegals get amnesty or their electric bill goes up 25%.
You dont it 240 and have. Obama is not clinton. He is a true believer in the NWO serf state and guess what 240 - Obama and these overlords want you as a serf and nothing else.
If you dont understand that, well, thats your problem. BTW - so far who is right about the Stim Bill almost one year later you or me?
-
If the base volunteers for him again, shame on them and they are no different than the worst of the Bushbots.
could you please please please tailor you replies to the post you're quoting better. If it's an independent thought as it is so often with you, just post it without quoting. You don't need to quote someone to say something unless it a direct response... Thanks.
-
i still dont know who was right about the stim bill... i still think bush would have pulled some evil shit to get tarp, and i still think the big 3 automakers would be the small 1 today without stim.
-

Bullmotherfuckingshit 240.
In February 2009 you spent weeks shilling for that fraud claiming it would create 4 million jobs, shovel ready jobs, etc. etc etc.
-
Remember that once they got the stim $, you had a lot of REPUBLICAN governors bragging about all the jobs they were creating in their states with that money.
Were Bobby Jindal and Tim pawnlenty lying when they said they had just created new jobs in their state with Obama's stim $?
Now true - a lot MORE jobs have been lost. But to argue zero jobs were created -when we have Bobby Jindal holding a "jobs jobs jobs!" festival with the money - makes no sense.

LOL when i first started posting here he told ppl he was a republican, now he is a libertarian by 2012 he will be a liberal ;D

33, I'm saying we've lost a ton of jobs.
But I'm also agreeing with pawlenty and jindal that SOME jobs were indeed created.

That's a great point Tony.
-
tony,
i see. Do you intend to 'change the political game'?
No. We're just observers.
I admire a Rove for using the politics of division to get your 50% to back ANYTHING you do. I admire Obama for painting hilary as part of the establishment and right up there with Bush. I admire FOX for hiding the story of Edwards' affair, with the possible release once he won the candidacy. I don't agree with all of these moves - some are downright shady. But I admire their political skill, no doubt about it.

do you admire drug dealers for concealing there drugs?
do you admire pedophiles for talking kids into sex with them?
do you admire drunk drivers for getting home without crashing?
LOL ::)
silver line much
when shit is wrong it is wrong on monday through sunday, not just on fridays you dip shit...
-
well, then i'm silver lining for fox and rove now too then.
I hate the patriots, but I admire their ability to coax officials into phantom calls on hitting tom brady. Am I a patriot kneepadder?
-
seriously tony, it's hard to have a discussion with someone who calls names in every single post.
-
also tony, the drug dealing and other crimes you bring up are illegal.
the politics these guys play = legal.
It's a game they play for money and power. It's certainly not morally responsible, but some people (myself included) are a fan of the shrewdness that people on both sides display when playing the game of politics.
Obama was VERY shrewd to convince the nation that despite his lack of experience and questionable associates - he was better than a war hero like Mccain. I'm not kneepadding, I'm stating facts - that is some seriously shrewd shit.
-

yes you were and are and more so an idiot to the n^th degree
again youve earned the name calling try not silver lining and being truthful and im sure you will see it decline.
what does legality have to do with anything? laws are simply man made same as the "game" as you call it...
so youre ok with someone manipulating one "game" but not another? ::) your idiocy is endless
-
Tony, tony tony. Poor little tony. Running around all emotional and up in arms. When you converse with 240 you look like a 5yr old babbling on in a grocery store aisle. You see, some people in this world have already been thru all the drama and can now sit back and see things as they are. They watch the young and immature take on causes for right or wrong and are amused by the whole scene. There are other ways to change things, you just dont know it yet.
Just because someone doesnt see things as you do, doesnt make them wrong. There are other ways to see things and to get things done. Its like that old saying a parent says to an "all knowing" child...."Son, Ive been 16 but you aint been 40 so belive me i have the edge" Lol at your constant name calling when you cant seem to convert someone to your ways......pure entertainment for the old dogs of life. ;D

its called being consistent brain child, if legality was the only definition of right and wrong then I guess slavery was ok before it was outlawed...
only a jack ass doesnt understand that legal isnt synonymous with right...
I guess 240 admires the guy who cheats on his wife too after all it takes a shrewd man to run around on his wife and not get caught?
::) the idiocy overfloweth

Ha ha. 240 - do you admire OJ for playing the legal system like he did.
-
again, OJ broke the law.
FOX holding back the edwards affair wasn't illegal. It was political gamesmanship.
I guess the big diff here... is that I'm an admirer of politics, and other people are admirers of their own political parties or beliefs. I have my own beliefs, but I don't let them skew my appreciation of politics.
When I saw hannity destroying Ron paul and swaying repubs away from a repub who could actually help fix things (and get elected!), I was bummed because I really liked Ron Paul. But it was fascinating to me to see the power one talking head had over ten million GOP primary voters, ya know? I mean, hannity questioned the legitimacy of FOX's own online polling results every time RPaul won the debates - it was humorous and shocking and just a great study in political psychology.
-
Face it 240 - since Obama's trip to Ft. Meyers, you have loved the guy.
-
i was hoping you'd discuss what I wrote - I am a fan of politics more than I am a fan of political party beliefs. Most people here are more passionate about their own party, and not the system itself.
-
LOL. I just saw the teleprompter in that pic 3333. that was funny stuff. ;D
But once again you guys seem to think that anyone that sits on the porch and watches the show is somehow needs to be pigeonholed into a label of "Lib" or Neocon. Theres another humorous idiot here called coach or jme or somthing that is the same way. He cant appreciate both sides of the story or why they exist.....its kind of a retarded way of seeing things. All my party or all your party.
I admit that 240 is a master of stirring the pot in sly kind of fox way. But you should be ble to appreciate this quality.....its actually an advanced technique. ;D
I know that im with 333 on all this ct stuff , its actually interesting to see how someone is actually calling the shots and the president is most likely a puppet. What i dont get is that he cant admit that theres huge coincidences in the 9/11 bombing such as a building falling that wasnt even struck and the jewish owner saying on film to "Pull it"
But this is advanced stuff and may take you a few more years to catch up... ;D
-
33 has caught up on the Luscitania bombing, which I will give him props for learning.
Give it time. As he moves through history, the pieces will come together. He should have been here 3-4 years ago when the rest of us were putting those pieces together. In a few years, he'll be jaded like many of us, just not giving a F what washington theater presents to us on a daily basis and just watching for the lunacy of it all.
-
again, OJ broke the law.
FOX holding back the edwards affair wasn't illegal. It was political gamesmanship.
Not according to the law he didn't. He and his legal team played the system like grandmasters of chess. According to your own standards they should be admired.
You're attempting to pick and choose who should be admired for working the system. But, when you structure an argument like that, by default, it means that unsavory people will have to be admired for their prowess.

You're attempting to pick and choose who should be admired for working the system. But, when you structure an argument like that, by default, it means that unsavory people will have to be admired for their prowess.
Skip you get to pick what amuses you and what doesnt. The next level is to appreciate the ridiculousness of it on both sides. Most people dont have the guts to think out of the box but it can take alot off your shoulders.
Dems are crooks and repubs are crooks but only a few will admit it.

What i dont get is that he cant admit that theres huge coincidences in the 9/11 bombing such as a building falling that wasnt even struck and the jewish owner saying on film to "Pull it"
But this is advanced stuff and may take you a few more years to catch up... ;D
There are huge questions, but questions alone are not evidence. Think of it as a court case and you are the prosecutor. Tell me the best evidnce of a CT wer you in the courtroom presenting your case to the jury.

In order to define what's ridiculous and what isn't, you first have to be standing on solid ground.
IMO, his argument is ridiculous. Trying to present yourselves as being "above the fray" just makes it egotistical and ridiculous.
Ever heard of Miles' Law?
"Where you stand, depends on where you sit."
Since you're so much more advanced then the rest of us, I'll let you figure out how that applies.

yes - they are criminals in that they're all getting rich and hooking up their buddies with taxpayer dollars - and can we admit it's not jsut a little bit fascinating?
I mean, you can get mad at it - I used to - but it doesn't do any good. So i just choose to watch it.

I think the original article shows just why I detest Obama, as much as I did Jorge Boosh post 2005.
Both are arrogant POFS who really dont give a rats ass about people.
