what kind of warm ups do u have em do hammer ???
-
Nice looking females.
-
What a beast, reminds me of a young Kazmaier.
-
If you are the coach why don't you tell them to do the other half of the squat?
-
Brutal Quarter Reps ::)
-
omg i just watched the video
why did u make fun of the kids pimple on his forehead-now hes gonna have issues w acne embarresment his whole life
-
Whats with the spandex and 1/4" range of motion?
these kids are gonna injure themselves.
-
Are they wearing 2 ply squat suits? ???
-
Instead of questioning all the issues I saw from the video, I would like to take a different approach. What are your qualifications to "coach/teach" powerlifting?
PWR
-
wtf was that?!
-
I didn't know there was a "Naked Gun" episode about squatting.
-
Your intentions are good but you don't have the balls to be a good coach. You're complimenting their shitty form and technique.
In high school none of my coaches would have let any of those lifts pass. They would MAKE you take weight off the bar until it was light enough so you could do a proper deep rep of whatever lift it was.
Blowing smoke up someones ass isn't going to make them better.
-
This is why powerlifting has gone to shit.
Suits, no range of motion, countless wraps, etc. what a f joke.

Yep. I'm not saying that a wide back squat isn't a legit movement, it is. But I would like to see the skinny, a little over 100 pounder boy do a max with a narrow front squat to the bottom (with no gear on)...
-
my eyes ! my eyes ! >:(
-
The last guy on the video was the only one that had any half way range of motion. The rest of these guys are the ones you see on BB.com bragging about weighing 135lbs, but be able to do over 400lbs. For sets of 10 squats. ::)
Man, if I wanted to inflate my lifting numbers than I should do 1/4 range bench press, but wear a bench shirt and claim I can do 500lbs for sets of 10 lol
-
Powerlifters really are harming their sport with this. When weightlifters and strongmen train they never! fuck around. If they say a number lifted, they did it. Powerlifters seem to have the ego thing going.
-
335lbs w/added band resistance 12" box. He's a 167lb Lacrosse player for Adidas National Team

this kid should sue you for destroying his spine.

I love it....everyone's a critic. hahah!

Just to add, the people I train have NEVER had a training injury.

Not that you will listen to anyones criticism, but when doing box squats you should never plop down on the box like that kid. He was not tight at all. You should be squeezing your glutes and hamstrings while sitting back to the box and then explode up. All things considered though, that kid is very strong for his weight.

I'm not going to disagree, it was an ME lower body day, if you listen to me I kept telling to "lock" lock" because he was a wobbly and got down a little too quick for my liking. But shit, he got it up.
-
True. Everyones form gets sloppy sometimes during ME movements. At least you have these guys doing useful movements for sports (box squats with added resistance, chains/bands).

Are you talking about the kids only? Because ALL powerlifters have injuries, ALL athletes have injuries. It's simply unavoidable. What competitive powerlifter hasn't had multiple serious injuries? Many of them can't even squat their body weight without being in a suit or briefs and loaded on narcotics and lathered with horse liniment.
Don't you think the kid was pushing his knees too far out?
I don't know, but I sort of feel that using bands may be too advanced for that kid, like for many others that use them. Same with doing these advanced "conjugate" programs. Should be doing technique work and linear programs for longer before starting a bunch of advanced shit. JMO.

The conjugate system works for any level of strength. On DE days the load should be light enough that you are mainly working form and speed.

That's just the thing, form isn't down yet for a beginner. They wont use the same form with light weights that they use when maxing. Like that kid in the video, he doesn't have it down, he isn't sitting back and attempting to keep chins vertical (not that you need to do this always though, depends on what your trying to do, but that's murder on the knees).

I don't train powerlifter but we do powerlift movements. This kid has been with me for 4 years, he just turned 18. That being said, no using bands on this particular kid is NOT too advanced. One of the best ways to create speed and explosivness in the field is not by taking a kid out and constantly running him/her but rather speed starts in the gym and adding different resistant to exercises he's alrready been doing. At his last combine he ran 4.56 electronically timed 40. No, I don't work with bands and chains with everyone but eventually they WILL work with them at some point.
-
Coach, I have long arms and can only bench 185. With proper technique do you think it's possible to get much higher than 220? I don't think I'm built for benching.
-
Our conjugate training is the second periodization in our system. I don't start with that.

How much have you charged him for those four years? ???
Got any money back guarantee?
Because he still haven't learned proper squat form based on that clip.
