I think you would be a lot smaller than you would like if you dieted.

If you wanna compete by all means go on ahead and good luck!

I think you are ready for one of the lower-weight categories of an open show.  You'll have more time to grow after that for future shows.

Better straighten up you room before mom gets home.

Need better lighting and a full body pose, front, side and back for anyone to give an honest view of you wanting to compete or not. Do local shows have random test?  Always a good idea, when judging full potential, to have at least one front and back shot fully relaxed also. Mr Manteca uncrowned?

Photo improved without owner's permission.  ;D

Still difficult to gave an accurate appraisal but one thing is for sure...

From what I've read in your posts, you do have the heart and attitude and desire to make it possible and that's more than half the battle.

And the photo - as bad as it is - does show that you have the potential to give it a go.

How are you on handling the diet phase?

Probably 18% BF.

Get down to a TRUE 5% BF( and full) Which I don't think you will acomplish either..
and you will weigh 175 or so and will dissapear in the crowd in a novice class on stage.

I say go ahead and compete and prove us all wrong.

I agree with Jaggy. The Excal is one of the toughest NPC events regardless of the class.

But I think you'll be getting a lot of support from this Board no matter which contest you choose to enter.

This positive response is damn impressive. Now we can all say we gave him advice and training tips before he got his pro card.

Do it, Bombz!

just go out and do it, once u start theres no turning back............

u can be on here online all day talking about how big u might be or what your going to look like, but you'll never know until u actually diet and jump onstage!!!

just do it, what do u have to lose, your 20 years old, and you've put alot of $$$ and time into this, so why not step onstage.

Yes, good potential there. You could do well at a local show from what I see from that pic.
Title: Re: Good enough to compete?

To further that, just as long as you come in shredded. Conditioning usually wins lower level shows

Dude, it's not about weight on stage. If you got some muscle, and come in shredded more than your competitors, 9 out of 10 times you'll take your class in a novice show. I've seen 5'10 " 175ers on stage winning overalls. Strange but true

Title: Re: Good enough to compete?
Post by: Flexb on January 22, 2010, 10:50:39 PM
there's potential...i think these guys are being a little to "encouraging" though.  You have a lot of weight to lose in order to get close to being lean, so you can expect some muscle loss along the way.  Also, if its your first time dieting down for a show, then also expect to make some mistakes along the way.

To really judge how you look and how you would fair, you should post some mandatory poses for evaluation.
Also, as one person here said, its hard to tell what you got until you actually "get" lean.

I think you should try dieting down, and then depending on how you look, evaluate whether you should enter a show or not.

He's not that bulky, maybe 15% -- average off season. And he can get a trainer to avoid any typical rookie mistakes preparing for a contest. The dude has potential from what I see in that pic. Wide shoulders, a lil sweep in the quad, decent arms and good chest shape. Good symmetry it appears also and he actually has an ideal structure judging from that pic

i have been thinking lately that id like to do the excalibur for my first show. maybe next year.

The Excalibur is the last National qualifier of the year, that being said it's the biggest and most competitive, people come from all parts of the country to do because IT IS the last qualifier of the year.

For your first show, set your sights a little lower. If you want to compete around that time, try the Boarder States. It's a good first show. I'm thinking myself of doing the Excalibur again this year......if my wife and son and clients will let me ;D

Good width, good size, and good proportions bro.

I`d definately jump on a diet and see what I could do if I were you Taylor.

After competing, and being lean, you`ll have a better idea on what your weak points are and why not get a trophy for all your hard work as competing is your goal anyway.

I`d also skip the Excalibur.......good advice given, too big for a first contest.

You`re only 20,what the hell are you waiting for bro?

Good size considering you're 20 but you're all drugs at this point.  Your legs are the only thing that really stands out which is good cause most guys have shit legs.  You've already got weak pecs and I bet your back isn't much better.  You'll lose a lot of your upper body size when you diet because although you're big up top it's mostly water and fat.  This is evident in your pecs and traps.  You can tell a lot about the true amount of muscle on a guy by his traps.  And it's not your fault............muscle. ...........drugs or not.......comes with years and years of hard training and good nutrition.  You've got a good base but if you REALLY are 230 most of it is just "weight" and not muscle.  I suggest you lay off the drugs a little and dial in your muscle growth.

I think he will be higher than 180lbs, from 230 that he is now to 180 is 50 pounds. Does he seem to carry 50 pounds of fat and water? no.

i say mid 190's..

You are way too fat and dieted down you will look like a string bean.

A physique like yours after all those steroids is not competition level genetics.

When you get backstage and see how gifted the guys are that place you will understand.

If you do it, have low expectations because you don't have the genetics for it kiddo.

You should definitly try a show bro !

What people don't realize is that you are not a short dude with full muscle bellies, you are a big dude that has a large frame.

So in pictures, maybe you won't look as big but in person I garantee you that your width will own most guys onstage !

you would be about 190lbs-195lbs ripped, that's pretty good !

I would say, do a show so you can know what you look like ripped  8)

my head is definitely out of proportion, making my body appear to be smaller.  i think this is why in pictures the size doesnt translate, also high bodyfat.

Seriously Tbombz you must consider your drug protocol..

Perhaps try Blasting with 1000 mg Test/Week, and cruising with 250 mg when not blasting.

That would be true if he did not post any pictures what so ever. but he did post one bad picturre from far away that makes him look bigger. He does not want to post clear pictures from up front because that will expose his weak parts. He does not want to hear negative only possitve from far away pictures.

Just like how some guys will take thousand pictures in dark room but not one picture when its light.

SO INSECURE HE IS OPENLY BISEXUAL, AN OPEN DRUG USER ( I.E. THE ABSENCE OF FAKE "NATURAL" STATUS TO GAIN ACCEPTANCE BEYOND THEIR OWN REALITY)???????????

How about YOUR INSECURITIES? The fact you couldn't answer life questions and CREATE YOUR OWN WORLD VIEW AND PURPOSE IN LIFE... YOU HAD TO SEEK OUT AND READ PSYCHOLOGY BOOKS (ANOTHER PERSON'S PERCEPTION OF REALITY) thats not THE  reality anyway...

oh but yes we know you are sooo BEYOND THE YOUTH AND THE BODYBUILDERS BECAUSE YOU HAVE AN EQUAL RELATIONSHIP and two parents! LIFE AIN'T LINEAR AND ISN'T EXPLAINED IN TEXT BOOKS

Tbombz you are a good guy so I hope you don't get mad when I give you my honest evaluation:

Considering the amount of drugs you take, and how seriously you are into bodybuilding I expected you to be much bigger.

You do still look good, and yes you could for sure compete and not be embarassed.  Not sure if you would win but yeah I think you are ready.

At this point I don't see the potential to become a pro but you are young and have made a great transformation, so I wish you the best.

And I agree with most people here, if you are gonna post a pic and ask for assessments post a better pic.

Good luck Taylor!

that seems to be quite a fe wpeoples opinion. how much drugs DO  i take exactly? i talk alot about them on this forum, but have i mentioned what i perosnally use?
i will admit i have tried just about everything, and tried it in many doses. ive made my best gains when i trained the hardest, not when i used the most drugs.

the last 6 months ive used 1/4 of what i was using before, and nothing exotic at all. and i have made as much progress in the last 6 months than i did in the year and a half before that..because ive been focusing on workout intensity and increasing my poundages.

i dont see any reaosn to think that im at risk of slowing down my growth, since i havent experienced any slow dows to this point, even after dropping out alot of drugs, and decreasing protien intake.

one point last summer (of 08) i was taking in 400grams of protein per day, half of which was beef. over 50grams of fat, and over 400grams of carbs. also at the time i was using quite a bit of roids.  the rate i am growing now is probably double than what it was then, and that is with way less drugs, about half the protein, and a year and a few months of time on juice...

so much for "too much too soon"... that whole idea is a huge crock of shit

you look very good/big at 20. While my honest assesment is that you'll be missing parts/incomplete should you try to compete, I will say that doing a harsh contest diet will do you wonders on the rebound. You should do one once every year anyway even if you're not competing. You'll make huge gains on the rebound.

just give it a shot cuz it really doesnt take long to get in contest shape (gear or no gear)

it takes, at most, 16 weeks

say you start next week, it will be dual purpose cuz a) you will be in shape for a contest and 2) you'll be in shape for summer

As it seems it'sz your dream, go for it, sure. And dieting is quite an experience. Will be a true test and show you where you stand. But i don't get why a 20y old would be juicing. Your hormonal system works fine at this age, you could train hard 4 or 5 years before getting on the sauce. The benefits could be greater at the end of the road.

i dont see any reaosn to think that im at risk of slowing down my growth, since i havent experienced any slow dows to this point, even after dropping out alot of drugs, and decreasing protien intake.

one point last summer (of 08) i was taking in 400grams of protein per day, half of which was beef. over 50grams of fat, and over 400grams of carbs. also at the time i was using quite a bit of roids.  the rate i am growing now is probably double than what it was then, and that is with way less drugs, about half the protein, and a year and a few months of time on juice...

so much for "too much too soon"... that whole idea is a huge crock of shit

Haha a 20 year old's dream is to step on stage in a thong and let other men judge his physique?

Well, to each his own. But truen when I was 20, I would have ever given this a thought. And I still don't. I have an allergy to plastic trophies probably.

Taylor I think before you decide to do a show you should put yourself through a six week pre contest diet just to get an idea of what weight you want to compete at.  Cut for the show before you enter it,  this is the best way to learn.

there's potential...i think these guys are being a little to "encouraging" though.
