Title: Obama is calling back his campaign team to take over the 2010 midterms
Post by: 240 is Back on January 23, 2010, 08:13:03 PM
Repubs drew first blood in Mass...

This is Obama's response, and it's pretty big news.  This "team" was good enough to take an unknown senator with an Arab name, and defeat the Clinton Dynasty, the Rove divisive Political machine, and deliver a landslide vistory in 2008.'

Repubs, please don't just shrug and laugh about how you already have 20 senate seats won in November.  Instead, realize the Dems are finally getting their shit together.  You have to choose good candidates, get a uniform party message, and stil screaming 'libs' and start delivering solutions ;)

Source: The New York Times

WASHINGTON — President Obama is reconstituting the team that helped him win the White House to counter Republican challenges in the midterm elections and recalibrate after political setbacks that have narrowed his legislative ambitions.
Mr. Obama has asked his former campaign manager, David Plouffe, to oversee House, Senate and governor’s races to stave off a hemorrhage of seats in the fall. The president ordered a review of the Democratic political operation — from the White House to party committees — after last week’s Republican victory in the Massachusetts Senate race, aides said.

In addition to Mr. Plouffe, who will primarily work from the Democratic National Committee in consultation with the White House, several top operatives from the Obama campaign will be dispatched across the country to advise major races as part of the president’s attempt to take greater control over the midterm elections, aides said.
“We are turning the corner to a much more political season,” said David Axelrod, a senior adviser to the president, who confirmed Mr. Plouffe’s role. “We are going to evaluate what we need to do to get timely intelligence and early warnings so we don’t face situations like we did in Massachusetts.”

PLEASE!!!

The one thing Obama's campaign did was effectively convince America that John McCain was George W. Bush. But, that was good enough to get the nod.

Obama always turns to blaming Bush, when he gets in a pickle. Heck, even with the Scott Brown win Tueday, he did the "Blame Bush" routine.

That ain't working in 2010. The people are MAD AT OBAMA and what OBAMA has done, not what Bush did.

With that said, the first piece of advice would be to keep Obama AWAY FROM THE CAMPAIGN trail. So far, he's 0 for 3.

Is that the same campaign team that touted all of those big & wonderful promises that their guy has broken in the last year?

You will see a larger trend of people who, just like they did in Nov. ‘08, will vote for the other party simply because they so much oppose the one currently in power.
If even Mass. has caught on…

i'm saying for repubs - they are stronger against a scattered and shattered dem party.

any Unity, and they suddenly have good 'get out vote' efforts.  They have the white house coordinating things which can help locally.  This mass election was about healthcare - which people get.  how many people understand crap/trade?

This helps dems *some*.  GOP can't be happy about this.

Yes it will 240 - people are sick of the cheap slogans, 24/7 campaign machine, broken promises, increasing UE rate, stock market about to crash again, etc.

Rah Rah Obama aint going to work this time around 240.

LOL!! Part of the whole problem is that he is still in campaign mode. What he needs to do is call Bill Clinton for advice and do what Bill Clinton did. Hire a political advisor like a Dick Morris that will have you going to the center only as far as you need to to triangulate the Republicans. But he wont do that because he is too much of an ideological marxist and the interest groups of the Dems have too much invested in him. Bill Clinton was just a political empty suit and that served the country well when we had a Republican Congress. But Obama really believes this stuff, and that is scary.

I agree that the Repubs are stronger against a divided Dem party.

And the Mass election was about healthcare, but HCR still very much IS an issue that is fresh in everyone's minds because of how dangerously close we came to it.

I think/hope it serves as a warning to people to question everything this adm. tries to put through.

Finally, as 3 points out, even if people aren't educated on all of the issues, there are still plenty enough other ones that they can't miss like the economy & unemployment. You don't have to follow politics to see & feel the effects of those matters.
And even if they don't understand the connection between those things and the government, they still make the connection. Either way, that doesn't reflect favorably on those in power.

Once helathcare loses - there are going to be some voters that aren't as motivated.

You can try to educate them on cap/trade... but healthcare is WAY easier to understand.

And now you will have everyone in congress running for re-election suddenlyu coordingating things with the white hosue, which can benefit them politically.  When obama delivers federal funds just in time for dem congressman to have a 'jobs jobs jobs!" festival a week before election day.. yeah that shit can make a difference.

Sure, there will be some voters who go on apathetic auto-pilot.

But, everyone needs to understand that the victory is only temporary.
The left will still try to push it through after maybe making some revisions and what not, but I would hope that anything else they propose is heavily scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb.

Many folks, too, have realized (and are realizing) that HCR is not one single issue, but rather an example/representation of this admnistration's agena and mode of operation.
And that's reflected in things like approval ratings, etc.

And if the war in iraq had been settled in 2006, Obama probably woudln't have won in 2008, we all know this.

Once healthcare is settled, the tea partyiers lose a lot of steam.  They get to claim the win, sure.  But that and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee.  They have to motivate their people to vote in 10 months.  if healthcare loses in 1 month, then what?

Just "vote against Obama!" isn't good enough dude.  They voted against the war in 2008 and they voted against healthcare in jan 2010.  What will they vote against in nov 2010?

LOL they ran on a good message "change" now that the message has been shown to be a lie. What will be the new message 240?

you think the reps wont be clamoring about jobs? they have been since the election all the while obama and the dems are clamoring about health care... ::)

let them talk about jobs that way they can highlight what a big failure and a lie the stimulus bill was... ::)

AGAIN it depends on the message...if they run on a far left liberal message you think that the moderate dems will fall in line with this?

What accomplishments do they have to run on? what agenda of theirs is important to the american ppl?

none and none

what the moderate dems need to do is fend for themselves and distance themselves from obama and the liberal left that is their best shot.

One unified message will not serve all the dems running this year it will hurt some and help others plain and simple.

The only message they have is the same one youve been parroting for the last 2 years...BADDDDD REPPUBBBLICANNNSSSS... ::) I think the public is getting tired of hearing that, dont you?

i dunno what their message would be.  MSNBC can't stop talking about how "Obama is suddenly turning populist!" so it's a good sign that ol' penduluim is swining back as far as he goes, and they're gonna do anything possible to tell america "look, we are centrists now!"

Their old message will not work, I agree with that.  But until you know what their new message will be (and yes, they will find one), it's pre-mature to just say they can do no harm to the GOP.

Great point.  I'm just saying he doesn't need 70% of people to approve of him.  48% will win you most elections.

yes, if the election was held TODAY a lot of those who approve him may vote differently.

Now that we've seen the GOP sling it's arrows, we will see what the obama team fires back.

What moves could they possibly employ to win back the tea party voters?

There is nothing Obama can do.He is damaged goods now.No matter what he says, his actions speak louder.By the way,I predict he will go FARTHER left, not towards the middle.THEY WILL push through health care,he will try to do cap and trade,he will continue to blame EVERYONE from banks,to wall street to Bush for HIS failings. This man is a strident left wing ,American hating, racist loon.He cant change,he wont change. What you see is what you get.

There is nothing Obama can do.

I only hope the people running the GOP message aren't as complacent as you, and take the next 10 months off.

I'm not denying anything you're saying about Obama, make sure you know that.  I'm saying he can still do a lot to win people back.  Remember - he's president.  He has the power to dictate national events.  He can start wars or claim victories, both things that boost a presdent's approval rating.

obamination is done. he has taken this country, ripped her ass open and rammed his muslin cock through it like butter. People have had enough of his lying ass. Especially after bankrupting us further than any other president in history combined.  He will be voted out.
