The left wing freak show is going to go ballistic!
-
what will the right wing say? It will be interesting to hear if Rush says we need more spending :)
If the only criticism from the moderates and right is "he pissed off the left", he's in good shape. You put up anyone with a bible, and those far-left people will begrudgingly vote Obama. Remember - most repubs held their nose and voted repub-lite with mccain - because they were voting against obama.

The GOP should applaud the effort and say its a good first start.
-
yes - I agree.
For them to bitch (when he's doing something they've been asking for) would make them look like some catty little prisses.
They should thank him for the spending freeze, and remind America he's now stopped approx 4% of the new spending he delivered (or whatever percentage).

That is what I would do. The DU/KOS/HP/FDL crew would probably Jim Jones themselves.

THIS is ONE of the populist/centrist moves that obama has at his disposal to win back people he has pissed off.
People who voted for Obama but regretted it after the stim bill - they can feel better about their vote now and forgiive him a bit, because of the spending freeze.
People who voted for Obama but regretted it after the stim bill - they can feel better about their vote now and forgiive him a bit, because of him "going after the bankers".
A few more of these moves that "everybody agrees with!" and he'll get those american idol voters who won't pay as much attention as people here.

240 - that video I posted will be used against him though.
-
yeah, he contradicted, but you know what he'll say.
"In light of economic changes, etc..."
it's a centrist move, and if it only wins back half of 1% of those voters, 1 in 200, it'll be a win.
Cause the next 10 months will be packed with these centrists moves, designed to win back a small % at a time.

It will be Reid/Pelsoi on the ballot in 2010 as well as O. Those two are not going to go along with this and Barack is going to have to bull a BJ to get popular again.
-
he didn't get popular overnight. it took 22 straight months of campaigning (and 2 years behind the scene prepping from 2004 to 2006 on top of that).
He lost a third of his supporters in a year. But another year of small moves like this - going centrist - and yes, some people will forgive him. The "good" things he does in 2010 will be much more fresh in their mind than the bad things in 2009. You live this shit man, you love Rush and levin and all that - most people aren't that connected.

It depends on where the UE goes too.
-
Hmmmm,Obama has spent more then any president in history NOW wants a spending freeze.Republicans dont have to say anything,a blind man can see this will never happen, just like he would NEVER pass a bill with pork in it,signed the omnibus and continues to say he never signed a bill with pork in it.His every word and deed is a lie.
-
doesnt matter if he's only shaving 5% off the insane amount of $ he printed.
What matters is those swing voters who will say 'wow, spending freeze, that's what we need - good call Obama!" and give him their vote.

No,because he will not freeze spending at all.Obama says things and does nothing. The voters get their news from other sources then left wing lib idiots like the networks now.Obama thinks he can fool America with his slick words and negro dialect preacher voice. It worked during the election, its dead on arrival now.We have seen it.
How much do you want to bet, there is no spending freeze, they still try to jam through health care, cap and trade, let the Bush tax cuts expire,no improvement in UE numbers,on and on and on.He is a fraud and now everyone knows it.The only smart thing he is doing is putting his insane speech on AFTER American idol, that way he will get a few people to watch it.Otherwise he would have gotten the same ratings MSNBC gets.He is old news.

His own party wont go along with this.
-
"His own party wont go along with this. "
they wont like it, but I think they'll go along.
they know blood is in the water and they're all scared of being voted out.
the fact beau biden isn't running for senate (which was an absolute given this year) means dems know people are ready for change.
-

Just so I've got this straight, you're claiming that Obama, who's been trying to endlessly push money into the economy and who is now trying to "freeze" money going into the economy will be lauded as a hero?
I think the term you're looking for is "waffler".
-
what 240 doesnt understand is the person he campaigned for fit every form b/c he had no past, like many said he had no experience so it was somewhat difficult to say exactly what he stood for. So he was able to say he stood for everything and idiots like 240 believed.
LOL all this shit has happened in one year.....CAN YOU IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF VIDEOS AND SHIT THAT WILL BE BROUGHT UP DURING DEBATES IN 4 YEARS? LOL obama is a one and done prez
-
Stop calling me an idiot tony. I'm not defending obama, who of course is waffling/flipflopping.
I'm saying I don't think 2007 quotes are going to be that huge of a deal if his actions as president in 2010 are cool with american idol voters.
I think his standard line will be "look at the mess I inherited... year 1 sucked... but this year I was able to freeze spending, go after bank presidents, yada yada." It's all silliness, but I think it'll work well with voters who aren't youtube political junkies like us.
Seriously tony, can't we have a debate without you calling names nonstop? I don't call you names. You make the place less fun, man.

hahaha I feel the same way about you bro, debating is fine but arguing simply for the sake of arguing which is what you do is annoying as fuck.
LOL what do you want to debate 240, no matter what ppl say you will silver line...how about how you feel bush keeping gitmo open was bad and contributed to terrorism but youre ok with obama doing it?
LOL again bro I think youre a good dude all in all doesnt make you not a tool but a good dude
Youre nothing but optimistic when it comes to obama and dems but pessimistic as shit when it comes to reps.
Actually say what you believe and believe what you say 240 and my respect for you will grow and the name calling will stop... ;)
-
The name calling is pretty stupid. I can only think of a handful of posters who are as consistently immature... and I consider all of their opinions worthless.
BTT, it's the economy. If it turns around, he'll make it to a second term. If it doesn't Republicans have a shot. Even with Even with the Mass election, that's not a foregone conclusion,.

and the incessant silver lining and excusing of actions they bashed others for, what do you think of that?
ehhh I agree and disagree with the economy comment, TBH if obama continues to let the far left run the agenda I still dont think the economy turning around will be enough. You also have to take into account the actions taken to turn the economy around, we basically threw 1 trillion dollars down the drain so far. You really think another stimulus even if it does help the economy will be accepted?
paying $10 for $2 worth of results is a net loss
If the economy turns around and obama comes somewhat center and doesnt just make trivial token moves he will get another term
-

If you disagree with someone, then be an adult and post why they are wrong. Beyond third grade, calling someone a "toolbag" doesn't qualify as intelligent political discourse and it's pretty difficult to take someone seriously who make a habit of doing so.
The economy is the deciding factor, bar none. The right was crowing about how America rejected Obama during the Mass elections, but the truth of the matter is if the economy had been doing better, health care, environment, etc would not have mattered. It's somewhat stunning that this administration didn't put on a bigger show of improving the economy and got sidetracked into dealing with nonsense like carbon trading and universal healthcare.

HHAHAHHAHHA perhaps you are not aware of 240's debating techniques...when cornered which happens in almost every thread he will:
1. Ignore any and all questions pointing out his idiocy
2. Deflect any questions or comments showing his idiocy
3. Simply run away and leave the thread
I should point out that I dont really think 240 is an idiot but the way he silver lines and flip flops makes him look this way. It should also be noted Al as even you didnt answer the question that silver lining all the time and never answering questions doesnt equate to an intelligent debate either. ;)
I never simply call 240 a tool I always always always explain why he is a tool ;)
I agree the economy is the biggest factor not the deciding factor but to each their own. I totally agree with the comment about not spending more time getting the economy back on track.

Actually, what you're calling "silver lining" is most often referred to as intelligent debate. Whether or not you agree with it, it's miles above name calling. If his positions is supported by a reasoned argument, then he is entitled to his opinion.
I didn't actually say "not spending more time getting the economy on track"- I said "put on a bigger show", a technicality that is probably meant for another thread.

Regardless, this is another sham from Obama and those who believe him are complete idiots. Last night they detailed how he ramped up spending so high the last two years in these agencies that even after a 3 year "freeze" they will still be way ahead of the game spending wise.
Its more lies, distortion, confusion, chaos, and propaganda from the Moron-in-Chief.

refer to my earlier posts, the problem is when a person silver lines all the time to the point that their opinions contradict one another. Ask 240 about his opinion of bush and gitmo and then ask about his opinion on obama and gitmo and obamas recent decisions...or just go check out the thread for an example of his idiocy ;)
So do you think that enough time was spent trying to get the economy back on track or are you saying he should have just made a bigger spectacle?

Al Doggity went hook line and sinker for the Stimulus Bill. I argued with him, Straw, and 240 about it endlessly.
I think the results speak for itself.

Obama: 'I didn't sign off on those shady health care deals.' Really?
By: John McCormack
Weekly Standard

________________________ ________________________ _-
Mary Katharine Ham notes that President Obama tells ABC:
“Let's just clarify. I didn't make a bunch of deals [on health care]. ... There is a legislative process that is taking place in Congress and I am happy to own up to the fact that I have not changed Congress and how it operates the way I would have liked.”
But the Washington Post reported on December 20 that Obama's top aides were involved in the negotiations with Nelson:
Schumer, who spent more than 13 hours in Reid's office Friday, said the Medicaid issue was settled around lunchtime, and the final eight hours of the talks focused on the abortion language. Boxer estimated she spent seven hours in Reid's offices -- without ever once sitting in the same room, even though they were all of 25 steps apart.
Reid and Schumer kept up the "shuttle negotiation" between the leader's conference room and his top aide's office, Boxer said. Keenly aware how tense the talks were, the White House dispatched two aides who together have decades of experience in the Senate -- Jim Messina and Peter Rouse -- to work with Nelson. They relayed their intelligence to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who monitored the talks from a dinner in Georgetown.
Perhaps Messina and Rouse just showed up to provide the "Christmas cookies" that Reid and Schumer chowed down to sustain themselves during the tense negotiations, but it's hard to believe that Obama's aides didn't sign off on both the abortion and Medicaid backroom deals.
Michelle Malkin sums it up:
The unmitigated chutzpah here is so blinding that I don’t just need sunglasses to protect my eyes. I need blackout curtains. Watch President Obama blame Congress for Demcare bribery and sabotage of transparency. As if Rahm and all the senior goons in the White House weren’t twisting arms and cracking heads to ensure that the deal met their boss’s timeline. As if the Cadillac tax break for unions hadn’t been hashed out at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Un-freaking real. The man is really sick in the head. He has only himself to blame for healthcare losing and he has the balls to say this?
Ha ha.
