They may be more expensive, but they are waaaay better than any windows based PC.

I use both OS-X and Win 7, can't found the 'waaaaay better' effect though.

I deal with the Walmart retail link software, which only runs on windows, so unfortunately I also have to deal with both. The Mac OS Snow Leopard is better than Win 7 in just about everything I can think of. Simpler, smoother, no crashes, Waaaaaay the hell faster, no bugs, more stable, etc.
That said, I still use MS Office on all my Macs because they are easier to use and more compatible with other PCs.

hey, i want one of those.

Steve Jobs he is not stupid.
If you look this way...
The reaction to the iPad has been largely negative, which isn’t too surprising given the out-of-this-world hype that preceded its unveiling. Many are dismissing it as a giant iPhone and nothing more, while some morons, who apparently get off on spec-sheets, are already calling it a failure because of it lacks Flash, an e-ink display, and support multitasking.
Now let’s get one thing straight - the iPad is not the second coming, and isn’t nearly as revolutionary as the iPhone was when it first debuted. But that misses the bigger picture, namely that the iPad may very well be the perfect device for the large group of people who not only don’t know how to use computers, but who lack the desire and/or patience to learn.
To anyone with a modicum of technical savvy, this all might seem a bit silly, but it’s easy to forget that the vast majority of adults have but an elementary understanding of how to use computers outside of a few basic tasks. The iPad, with its impressive screen and intuitive and easy to use UI will instantly make computing a more welcoming and friendly experience for the large number of users who probably couldn’t tell you if more RAM is a good or bad thing.

Nice post GJJ, you make some great points.
I think it comes down to your second paragraph. Personally, I think they overestimated the market for this, or assumed the iLemmings would just scarf it up. We'll have to see.
I don't know why they went 4:3 with it.

Somebody's gonna come up with a dash mount for this thing and it'll immediately turn into a must-have provided they don't come up with some hardcore legislation specifically banning this thing's use in your car.

All the accessories are cool but until the public wireless infrastucture catches up what's the point? 4G is making it's way but until then how much fun will video conferencing be on current app/phone bandwidth?

For me the iPad seems like the perfect solution to mobile computing. In my office I use a MacBook Pro connected to an Apple Cinema display. When I'm out and about, the iPhone works perfect for keeping up with email, txting, etc. But, when I travel, which is often, I will no longer need to bring the MacBook with me. I'll simply slide the iPad into my briefcase, and through MobileMe, will have full access to my iDrive, email, documents, etc. It's perfect for getting stuff done in a plane, hotel room or to do a presentation. I can't wait!

Apple/Jobs are masters of taking exiting technologies and making them better. It's what they did with the iPod & iPhone. It's what they are doing with the iPad.
