What are some of the more liked brands of treadmills that I should be looking into for my gym. thanks
-
I still don't think you are serious about it but i like talking about equipment so here goes...
If I was opening a gym in a small town in canada I would get refurbed life fitness treads.
They are so easy to work on and so easy to get parts for (gympart.com as an example sells OEM belts that are loads cheaper than life fitness ones) that even if you have a few problems they are an easy fix.
the motors can take serious punishment and you can even send them to places to get exchange ones.
this black model was the first ones but the silver 95T and similar are basically the same machine...
there are seriously many many thousands of these models in north america... they are like the crown vic of treadmills not sexy but solid.

Jesus christ I thought you said you did your research. You said you were opening in April and you don't even know what kind of treadmill you are getting. Seriously, just tell us you have been fucking around with us cause you felt alone and you needed to try and impress someone.

Goodrum sells them out of his trailer in the woods

IHRSA expos in the USA offers a myriad of equipment and many other items for the gym owners. I would serious recommend going to one of these before opening a gym.

LifeFitness is the best. Great product, great customer support, easy to find aftermarket parts. you can also get an aftermarket kit to put the TV's on the older models
Dont make the mistake of going with Precor. Their niche is ellipticals, not treads.
The refurb idea from jwb is solid.....
Dont be cheap and think "a treadmill is a treadmill". youll regret it.
Globalfitness.com
Fitness Equipment Source......out of Utah. Ask for Mark Clayton. Hes a wheeler and dealer....hell hook you up!

Proform from sears.

Mr. Clayton will get you a good deal on a refurbished tread. Nice guy and you'll get your equipment pretty quickly.
-
Slacker you are a retard. You need to buy your shit from a Canadian source if that is where you live and want the gym to be. Customs will not allow this equipment through unless you pay through the nose for tariffs.

Ummm You are not that smart. Check again. If it was purchased in the US then you pay on it. Plain and simple. Wow! never underestimate the stupidity of people on this forum.

Bad idea to buy equipment in the US for Canada. If you had just one brain cell I would give Hazbin a call. He knows exactly what he is doing, is a great guy and has a great gym in Canada. But, then again you aren't really building a gym are you?

You are wrong on Precor vs. Life Fitness......I've sold both. Far less service calls on the Precor, with a 10 yr EVERYTHING included warranty. LF has a garbage warranty. Not to mention Precor 9 series treads are all still manufactured in the US. And there is a huge difference in product quality in fitness equipt when it comes to US vs anybody else....especially Asia.
All that said, I would look for a used Precor commercial, if you can get it into your workout room.....they can weigh 500 lbs.....so upstairs can be a bitch. If you are serious OP, hit me up, as I still have some connections in the industry and will see what I can do for you.
-
hey slacker...the gym I go to two has two different types..precor and life...I run on the precor, seems to have more cushion (if that makes sense) and I never get chin splints and I run 7-8 miles 6 days a week on it
-
ok "newmom" haha

hi husband of newmom.

All LF cardio is manufactured in Illinois.

wow you really are dumber that dirt I dontt care for you or your opinions. That fact that you continue to reply tells me you have very little grasp of the English language. I never said I was buying equipment from either one of them. I am simply enquiring about price and warranties.

i think im getting myself a new beer.

You might have sold both, but ive serviced both.....for the better portion of 10 years. (as well as every other major brand) Ratio on service calls for Precor to Lifefitness was 2:1 easily (and there were more Lifefitness treads in the surrounding area). Expense of repairs is typically higher on Precor as well. Sorry Showstoppa...Were gonna have to "agree to disagree" on this on.
Besides, LifeFitness is still manufactured in the US as well, and here is the actual precor tread warranty:
Warranty Periods and Coverage.
Commercial Cardiovascular Products, also known as C-Series Products,
(excluding StretchTrainer, Strength Products).
• Seven years frame, five years display face assembly, three years motor controller, one year
durable wear parts, two years parts, one year labor.
• For treadmills, five years drive motor.
• For self-powered ellipticals and bikes, one year battery.
• For InSite, one year parts and labor.
-
i'm sure there are refurb people in canada too... in australia life fitness themselves sell their ex lease cardio for a pretty good price so maybe life fitness canada does also.
new precors aren't bad but older ones aren't great imo...

wes is right the LF next gen and newer are tough suckers i've seen some totally neglected for years and they still ran...
where do you get parts from for stuff wes?
-
I think showstoppa night be talking about home version life treads perhaps? different animal to commercial models.
-
All LF cardio is manufactured in Illinois.
But the warranty is still weak.....only 5 or 7 years on parts unless you go commercial. Most people only look at the motor warranty, but parts are far more likely to need replacing than a motor. For the price, they should have a better warranty. LF's best product, by far, is the Life Cycle.
But it sounds like this guy wants used anyway, so it won't matter.
-

I was jwb, I thought this guy was doing a home gym.
And wes, I respect your opinion. I sold both for 7 years and had the exact opposite.....of course that was home models, so maybe that is where we are not matching up.

thought you might be... we were talking about next gen 9100's and onwards into the 95xe and similar - the really big fuckers.
i assume the life home stuff is chinese... i've seen home precor stuff in PT gyms and they have done pretty well...
-
I def want the ones with the tvs.
-
I def want the ones with the tvs.
to be honest, since people have gotten ipods, tvs on cardio aren't as big a deal as they used to be...
girls often watch music vids on their ipods when they run now...
