i saw cadillac (with fins) driving through town a few weeks back. god, it looked fucking awesome. keep in mind that this is bradford, england. and these cars are fucking HUGE compared to what's on our roads. so it was a rare sight indeed. every fucker was looking. the only other way you'd get as much attention would be if you walked naked down the street naked, or flew a ufo down the road.

Bullshit. Caddy's are not black people cars. Sure, they dig the escalade but just as many whites dig it too. The majority of people I see driving Escalades are not black and I live in an area with a lot of them. I think I've seen only 1-2 blacks in a CTS. CTS' are for white guys young and old -- they're an awesome car.

They're not an old persons car as they used to be seen. The CTS, CTS-V is sick. The CTS-V has 550 HP

You must have not been watching many rap videos or MTV cribs. CADDYS have always been the car to get for blacks that have made it. Right up there with Mercedes Benz, Hummers, Bentleys, and Rolls Royce.

It goes like this :

Super wealthy blacks - Rolls, Bentleys, Maybach.

Rich blacks - Mercedes, Caddy's.

Middle class blacks - Hummers, 300C's, Chargers,

Poor blacks - Crown vics! ;D

ALL with 22inch wheels or bigger no matter what!

Hint the "sarcasm" with a little truth in it ;D

CTS-V is bad ass (although I don't think the styling is really all that great). The car is undeniably a sledgehammer though.

The Escalade is blah to me but I think SUV's in general are lame.

Cadillac has tried hard to shake the old man's image (their marketing people were well aware of this perception years ago and have worked to change it). Their cars are no longer an embarrassment.

The Caddy CTS-V has the 4door production car record on the 'Ring. And there was a challenge thrown down by Bob Lutz of Gm that there is no other 4 door showroom stock production car that can beat it on the track. And he was right. None could beat it. From Mecedes E63/CLS63, Audi RS6, jaguar XKR, BMW M5. But I think the Panamera may have a shot.

The Panamera beat the Caddy by 3-4 seconds.  The CTS-V would be perfect...well, almost, if they softened the edges.

Exactly.  I saw this thread and had to say that my cousin's son just bought an XLR and that car is unreal.  I would take one in a heartbeat.  And they are big inside.  I remember when I had my suntan lotion company I went to my office in Huntington Beach to check up on things and saw thei red convertible Cadillac.  I am almost certain it was called an Allante but not sure.  The first thing I thought was who am I paying so much that they can get one of these.  It was really nice I thought.  I like the CTS and STS too

I believe they have or are discontinuing the XLR and XLR-V due to very bad sales. It was pitched as a cheaper alternative to the Merc SL, but it couldn't outgun it in the HP dept.

XLR was a disaster sales wise.  It also was more of a looker than a true performer.  If I recall it had a price tag that wasn't far off from a Mercedes SL either which simply doomed it to fail.  The Mercedes SL is the benchmark for the 2-door hardtop luxury convertible....the XLR didn't stand a chance.

First gen CTS-V had a ton of HP with it's Z06 sourced V8 but abrupt power delivery and wheel hop that was unacceptable in a luxury-performance sedan.  The new gen CTS-V supposedly has all of the wrinkles of the first gen ironed out.  I would love to test drive one but one it comes down to it I think that resale for an American luxury car does not hold up to foreign competition.

With that said Cadillac has come a LONG way from the disasterpiece POS lineup of the not-so-distant past.  Lincoln on the other hand........still an old-man's blue haired embarassment of badge-engineered garbage.

The R8 was billed as a usable sports cars, a alternative to the 911--but they are now in the same fold. Another car that was made to compete against the 911 is that glorious Aston Martin AMV8.
When you have Audi R8 V10 being tested with the GT-R and 911 Turbo, it means that it ain't a old man's car.
