Since some of you so conviently forget, Chick was the one that set up the group health insurance plan for the IFBB Pros at a meeting, only to have only a few competitors actually attend the meeting nor care. Kodus to Chick for trying, and sad for the competitors that are not invovled enough to even get covered for health insurance.
Sadly though, as we know in the USA, this is a problem for millions and millions of people.

you would think in a sport like this - a health plan would be very much a concern to the athletes... ::)
you feel like death getting ready for a show :-\

What sort of reputable insurance company would be willing to cover pro bodybuilders?
What if they ask "have you taken any illegal drugs in the past 12 months?"
At the very least, the premiums would be huge.

Thinking the same thing.

Same. You'd have to approach Lloyds of London with your hat in your hand.
Who carried the policy, I wonder? Or did it never materialize?

Dr.time out.

The same that covers any sport - basketball, football, hockey - where the injuries, and performance enhancing is much greater.
Point is, get health insurance -
-
Exactly. For example if you work somewhere and they have health insurance, you get it regardless of your health state or lifestyle. That is one of the reasons employer run health insurance is so expensive.

Chick never got into the specifics of the "plan". Something about it not being any of our business. But, it probably is not a typical "plan" like others would recieve or I would think he would say so. I think it was one of those that paid you for certain things that happen. Like if you are in the hospital they will give you $100 each day you are in there towards your bill. I am not sure so we can only guess.

wrestling anyone...?
when your 1099 ic or under a contract with an org. health ins isn't nor should it be part unless detailed in a contract, or part of an employee benfit pckg,, for ic's those are out of pocket expenses,,,
so instead of driving a car that'd total 1k a month chop that in half and drive something smarter to go along with your health insurance plan...
life > bling,,,
health > image,,,
some people may think the other way around so to each their own.
anything chick does for the bbr's is in regards to that is cool

Sometimes I think that pro bodybuilders are the stupidest people in the world - you'd think that this of all "sports" would require a decent amount of health insurance.

Good guess Keith...wrong, but a good guess.
As I stated over 3 years ago...the group health plan was put into place, and many have chosen to take advantage of it to this day. To all pros who may not be aware of this, feel free to contact me anytime if this is something you need.
And no Keith, its not some bogus "$100 towards your bill" kind of thing...its a regular group coverage through one of the top 5 carriers...

How much does each individual have to pay for this coverage?

How much does each individual have to pay for this coverage?
It varries from person to person based on things like age, history, etc...when I used it, I was only paying $140/ mo. far cry from the almost $600/ mo. I was paying from Blue Cross before I switched over...virtually the same coverage, too...the only thing not covered under the group plan is dental, which they have an affiliate you can use which was also pretty cheap)...

What a pleasant surprise
Why does she need help getting her panties off? Is this something I could help her with? :o

if republicans would stop being obsternate then obamacare would cover bodybuilders at pro, amateur, and recreational levels
