Whatever you do don't pay for it, just look it up on the net if you want to try it. It's good for getting in shape or if you want to work on your cardio, but it definitely isn't gonna build any muscle.

It's doing all kind of things, running, bodyweight stuff, light weights and sometimes heavy weights against time.

Shittly programmed circuit training that impresses people that have never worked out hard. They mistake being tried and bloody for improvement. Best description I've heard of it is "bunch of crazy white people paying to be wore out" .

On the plus side-

a) All that cardio work turns chicks really hot, it also turns the men into weak stick insects.
b) The message board and corporate end has lots of infighting which brings the lulz.
c) If you can squat more than 300, bench more than 225, and dead more than 350, you'd be stronger than atleast 90% of them.

The bad-

a) They are shitty at programming the Olympic lifts, lots of high reps, and poor technique. If you understand Olympic lifting, check out their pulls and rack position. Awful.

b) They have no real screening for coaches anymore, you basically pay corporate a certification fee, boom you can be a crossfit gym.

c) They alienate any good coaches the have- Rippetoe, Everett, Dan John, Wolff, etc.... because of the back biting.

d) Lots of heavy injuries. Check out the board- Rhabdo, chronic over-use injuries, etc... But what do you expect from folks that brag about tearing their hands open doing pull-ups:(.

Pretty much. Another gimmick for people who want to feel like they're doing something "special" and "cutting edge". :-\

Great for building endurance, flexibility and improving cardio & athleticism.  Shitty if you're trying to pack on muscle.

The average getbigger has not the tools or motivation to "pack on muscle"  They are only concerned with touching their meat whistle while watching grown men hike their posing trunks up their asses.

A lot of fatties who haven't seen their penis for a decade or two posting in this thread.

Crossfit is bit "emperor's new clothes", in that it is just a variation on military phys for the mma generation.

The lovely Nicole Carroll does it, however, so it can't be all bad.

Good post.

Dorian said this in that BBing.com interview, anyone can gain for 6-12 months from scratch without thinking about it. After that you've got to worry much more about recovery/intensity and how much you are doing.

To me Crossfit is just another fucking fad for people to talk about.

I think kettlebells are cool as well but they are so trendy now that it is pathetic

what's old becomes new again kettlebells are older than dirt. pilates was  a stupid system thought up by an old couple named pilates.

BB is pretty much right on target. Poor warm up protocols, poor program design as well as exercise selection. The "WOD" is for someone who doesn't know how to put a program together. They try this "muscle confusion" bullshit and call it training.
