Title: We are the World - the new rendition
Post by: Chick on February 12, 2010, 05:58:27 PM
Watching the opening ceremonies at the Olympics...they just played the new rendition on "We are the world"....I know its for a good cause, and maybe I'm just old school....but IMO, it sucked monkey balls...are you kidding me?

Some things should just be left alone...it would be like trying to remake Animal House.

Some movies represent a time and a place as much as the originality of what the show/ movie was....remaking movies almost always sucks because there is no point in re-doing it...cant really think of one good remake.

Scarface

I'm talking reletively modern...wasnt the original made in the early 40's?

That said, there are some old flicks that also fall into the category of "shouldnt be touched"...like the ten commandments, gone with the wind, citizen Kane, etc..

Good case and point: Original "Planet of the apes" VS that horrible remake

Yeah, but the Halloween remake by Rob Zombie was pretty good.

Part of the problem is that if you were old enough to see the original, it takes on a different feel....I remember the original Halloween when it came out and it was cool because it was something new and original...the remakes were trash

Here are some predictions for the new Karate Kid and the new Jaws:

Jaws will have some gay looking digital CGI shark and there will most likely be a love story

Karate Kid will cast that little #### Zac Efron as the new Karate Kid and his main opponent in the final fight scene with be a "brutha" from some inner city gang

Without Pat Morita, no Karate Kid movie will ever be the same.

Here are some predictions for the new Karate Kid and the new Jaws:

Jaws will have some gay looking digital CGI shark and there will most likely be a love story... the water scenes will be 3/4 digital and the entire movie will be feminized

Karate Kid will cast that little #### Zac Efron as the new Karate Kid and his main opponent in the final fight scene with be a "brutha" from some inner city gang

KK2 is going  to be starring Jackie Chan and Will Smith's son.  Should be interesting since Smith can't act you can't really take Chan seriously.

most movies  we have watched growing up...i'm afraid to say are remakes of older black n white versions...

so often...i hear my dad say " o i remember the original".....and here all along i ws mentally giving props to the writer for coming up with an original idea  :-\

most recent example...that football /jail movie adam sandler did...i forget the name

I dont mind the ones as much where todays special effects and advancements make for a better and/ or more realistic end result....

Well Bob Chick i cant either but, back to bb, i saw Arnold's shape in pumping iron and learned thru mags he worked out his entire body 3x's a week to look like that.....thats pretty much impossible to do even juiced on every drug available. Point is maybe after 3 months of this copycat training anyone could look somewhat like Arnold.
Problem is just gettin past week 1 of high volume training. Think Louie tryed to clone it, he looked great.
No others that i recall... Chick Maybe you tried Arnold's training style at one time?

The original 'We Are the World' was something new, impressive and was an instant hit, by American singers and bands.  It was done a few years after the British bands and singers made 'Feed the World'.  Since then, there has been a few others, but have not done well.

In making this for the people of Haiti and to bring in more aid for them, they choose to remake 'We are the World' instead of writing and composing a new song.  Oh wel...

The first one was better.

However, we didnt see the entire song and video at the Openinig Ceremonies.  It was just a small part of it.  I believe the full video starts tomorrow.

see since i never watched the first one i kinda enjoyed it....recently i heard they r gonna remake "the party" with peter sellers...with mike myers in it...BUT peter sellers sooo nailed that part (without tech advancements) that i think its futile...
however a new audience is prolly gonna like it...my girls nephews loved the new willie winka (with jonny depp)..i however prefer the old one.....king kong got redone although i never thought it'd happen
