REMINDS ME OF AN OLD JOKE..A

depressed young woman was so desperate that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean. When she went down to the docks, a handsome young man noticed her tears, took pity on her, and said, "Look, you've got a lot to live for. I'm off to European Cruise in the morning, and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take good care of you and bring you food every day." Moving closer, he slipped his arm around her shoulder and added, "I'll keep you happy, and you'll keep me happy."

The girl nodded yes, after all, what did she have to lose? That night, the man brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat. From then on, every night he brought her three sandwiches and a piece of fruit, and they made passionate love until dawn.

Three weeks later, during a routine search, she was discovered by the captain. 'What are you doing here?' the captain asked. She got up off the ground and explained, "I have an arrangement with one of the people on this boat. He's taking me to Europe, and he's screwing me."

The captain looked at her, "He sure is lady, this is the Staten Island Ferry.'

There are A LOT of things that factor into the price of a cruise.

Cabin
Flight to/from port & hotel (play it safe and arrive to port a day before disembarking)
Excursions
Drinks
Tips (mandatory)

Realistically, about 3 grand a person, that's with the actual cruise ticket included, tips, souvenir's/trinket's, few shore excursions...

I've been on 3, and that's roughly what me and the fiancee pay each time.

In all fairness - only once watching discoveries Cruise Ship Diary makes me realize I rather puke blood to go
on one if the ultra cheesy low life cruises.
I rather cook my own food and pay for my own drinks rent a car and do my upmost best to soak in all the local
culture.

Cruise ships are for dim people.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Cruise vacations are definitely the best bang for the buck these days.

You see and you just did not read my post properly - sure you get "a lot for your money" but I think the entertainment is cheap and low life.
Its like Las Vegas on waves - And for the best buck for you money - Like I said - I rather pay a little more and maybe even have to cook my own food and (god forbit) have to read a little about the country I visit their culture and were to see things that interest me - I generaly speaking don't like to be spoon feed - which is exactly what you get on a cruise ship.

I have been on a cruise.  Had a couple chances but choose to fly to the destination instead.  I heard they are great.  Food 24 hours a day, can't beat that.  When I was a kid, my neighbor and her family went on a mexican cruise.  The mom fell off the ramp going up to the ship.  She ended up suing the cruise line.  She got $100,000 cash settlement (this was back in 1975 or so) and she got 3 cruises a year for life for her and her whole family (husband and 34 kids).  to this day they still all take cruises but for free.  The one daughter married the original owner of Vuarnet Sunglasses (my first sponsor).  I am thinking about taking the cruise back to Hawaii on my next trip.  Stuntmovie took the cruise from Hawaii to LA.  he has a neat story about that one

I agree with Stark.

Being stuck on a ship, going to the same places and mingling with the same people for the whole of my holiday seems really shit. It's like people that go to an all inclusive resorts on holiday and never leave the grounds of the hotel.

I'd rather get a flight to my destination and then travel around a bit, staying in cheap hotels.

Plus, I always imagine cruises to be full of old people and fags.

Some of you guys should really try GOING on a cruise before opening your mouths, You idiots have no clue, the ships are fucking massive, you can do everything from ice skating to rock climbing to playing golf, swimming, tanning, etc.

Each of these cruise ships has at least 20 different stores, tons of restaurants, 24 hour buffet's, gym, etc.

Not to mention during the day you are docked on a different island and get to explore that island and partake in the adventures it offers all day, you are only bound to the ship at night when the ship is at sea.

We went on a cruise about 6 years ago. The porters lost one of our bags so the cruise line gave us a penthouse for the entire cruise. We even had our own butler. Then they found our bag, but let us stay in the penthouse.
