Toney will be 20% better at the Arnolds and is saving it up to peak then, and will probably place a couple places ahead of Mel and Hide. Back in the day guys like Flex could do a warm-up show looking significantly less than their best and still dominate. I think some of the top contenders these days think they can do the same and simply can't. They're ahead of the pack at their best but not by much and really should be focusing on coming in as good as possible at each show, which I know is hard but I think they'd fair better regardless. There is no one way ahead of anyone else these days

WTF, Toney looked better than Hide, and Hide conditioning was better than Melvin's, but Melvin has better shape. Hide, structirally flawed, and he is starting to get the "T-Rex" look.

Toney looked much bigger, and easily could have won, yeh just looks like he will peak for the Arnolds.

From the pre-judging pics Toney looked pretty watery though compared to his best. Mel and hide were both on and have no problem with them winning it I guess.

Shorter bodybuilders can definitely be viable threats even at the Olympia. Look at how well Ronny Rockel did last year.
Good for Troy for making the top five. Kind of sad that bodybuilders who make the top five in pro shows still can't make an awful lot of money in the industry. It goes to show just how little money there is in the bodybuilding industry.

Yeh, but could a pro bbing show fill out stadium like the LA Lakers do etc? NO!. There needs to be more fan support and interest in order for bodybuilders to be paid more. So we can't blame show promoters etc. Would it makes sense for MT to pay Jay Cutler $80mill for a 4 year contract?. NO! So is it sad?, well IMO no bodybuilders get paid for what they bring fan wise. Yeh supp companies could pay bbers more then they do, but really how much further can our sport go, if we don't make it to mainstream media and broaden our audience?.

Bullshit? Were you born yesterday? Or just new to bodybuilding? It's hard for bodybuilders to peak twice in a short period of time, let alone once, and Toney is priming for the Arnolds (bigger purse) hence why he wasn't at his best. I have little interest to who wins so it's not excuse making. I picked Melvin to win after seeing the Pre-judging pics.

And to add to that, the majority of a pro's income is from guest posing, appearances, and magazine and supplement endorsements.

Too bad this wasn't a warm up for Toney. He clearly stated he was at his all time best with added muscle and better condition than the ever. So ouch, check your facts son.

If you look at it pound for pound Hide does have some good mass, but it was his conditioning that obviously put him above Toney

yes he will improve greatly in the next 2 weeks. people forget how conditioned he was at the asc last year. notice the hardnes and striations and condition Toney brought last year.

Yes, and he knows he'll only get better as he dials it in for the Arnolds. He was definitely at his biggest while keeping in ok condition but you know he's gonna be even tighter for the Arnolds

I'd say this would be true for the more higher-up bodybuilders. I highly doubt a newcomer is going to take any show lightly, even the Phoenix show. Would be good to differentiate.

Yes, I agree. It's for the guys that know they have a good chance at cracking top 5. Melvin though went all out for the Phoenix and may not duplicate his form at the Arnolds and I don't think he'd be top 5 even if he did.

IMO, he doesn't stand a chance in hell at making top 5 at the Arnold. Hell, he should have been at least 3rd or 4th at the Phoenix show.

I think his name carried him. I mean, if he was a new pro or not that well known he could have very well been out of the top 5 at the phoenix show. I've been around long enough to know when one of the popular guys comes in shape it seems to automatically gives them a shot at top spot whether they really deserve it or not.

truth. Toney had ham and glute separation and calves and balance. his arms were/ are way bigger and ... well fuck it look at the pics.
