i think the team with the most gold medals should be considered the top team, canada and germany both have more gold's than usa as of yesterday. silver and bronze's are for losers. ;D

Most of the American athletes come from the same areas where they can practice winter sports roughly as much the Scandinavians and other European countries who suck at everything that doesn't involve snow. By the way, places like Florida and most of the southern USA are HUGE on winter sports. ::)
Can't wait to see Sweden and Norway tear up the Summer Olympics. :-X

Here's the thing friend. If the U.S. gave a fuck about soccer or Formula 1, we'd be the best. We are the best at what we as a mass population give a fuck about. Soccer, Winter Olympics and others alike fall into this category...Get it?

even as a Canadian i have to agree with Simon...could you imagine the hockey teams if hockey had been more tradition in the states and more top level guys had been raised playing hockey instead of baseball and basketball and football.....imagine snorting Otis Nixon tearing up the ice lol sorry but for real if the Americans took hockey as serious all over their country as they do in Minnesota they would have an amazing program

No one here cares. Non of the top athletes in the US go into soccer, they go into Football, Basketball, etc. Why?

Have you seen the soccer stadiums in Europe? They're fucking huge and people are NUTS! And soccer teams have serious rivalries - supporters of opponent teams have been killed and beaten up multiple times. Shit that intense just doesn't happen in U.S. sports.

This whole Olympics thing and beating the U.S. has really got me wondering what else we could win at.
