I guess it would be lack of size. Historically it was his lack of conditioning in the glutes/hamstrings, but I think being under 230 also played a role. Having said that, I would rather look like Troy Alves than almost any other pro, but by that logic, Brad Pitt should win bodybuilding contests. Contests are of course judged largely on size and I suppose Troy was one of the "smaller" pros [despite obviously being huge by most other standards].

he looks sharper, could be the light/angle, but I see differences in seperation in his upperthigh and the upper abs.
maybe the competition was worse in 2010?
-
Totally deferent angle and lightening, but I think he looks the same if not the 05 slightly better.
And Yes, I would rather look like him than to look like most of the current Pros. ;)

2005 ASC vs. 2010 Phoenix Pro:
Paid his dues for what...a 5th place finish?
Different year, different field, different lighting, different judges....
-
Troy looked great at the Phoenix Pro, very tight upper body and only weak in his rear legs. Yes he could have been larger, but why spoil his look. He deserved what he got.

He is done took his genetics as far as they will go.

maybe if he 'really' paid dues..they would set up a contest for him specifically so he can win ...let's call it .hmmmm the Masters World Championships 2010 .. . ::) ::) ::) ::)

great build, and has had a decent track record as a pro.you can't ask for for than that ,did not break down from the rigors of modern pro bbing and has same look he had as amateur to a degree.

Yeah, thats it....amazing how "they" set it up so that only certain people would enter an open contest, huh?

I don't think he has "paid any dues" just competition has gotten a bit weaker. Look at the top placings of the major contests compared to even 6 years ago...
-
I seriously don't care about bodybuilding any more.

I am rapidly steering away from it also. It is difficult to turn away from something I have loved since a child, but with how outright homosexual and freak show it has gotten I can stand to be associated with it.... :'(

Troy no legs alves.

That's fair enough Bob - it's not like he won the show or anything.
-
Looked better in 2005.
-
Probably hasn't shown up as full as in the past, but with age comes good grainy muscle maturity.
Troy's got it. and when the stars align and his hamstrings magically get Ripped, he's one of the guys
that people consider a superbly aesthetic physique.
Stop hatin'

Troy will be 44 this year and looks amazing, yet going on age 38, King has regressed.

Troy at the 2006 Olympia:
-
he looks massive to me, more massive than many other 'bigger' bodybuilders

I guess 'fixing' the placings and giving Vince Taylor a check of $1000 to 'stay out' with the promise of more $$ in 'other' shows isnt a 'set-up' 8) 8)
cAt is out the bag
WOOOOOOOSHHHHH
