Looks like Phil will live up to the hype generated here last week. He is definitely "on". He was first call out in the Heavies and owned the class. The Superheavies had some big boys but as usual at this show the conditioning wasn't there. I didn't catch the lighter classes. Mo has a great back but didn't have enough color or oil on. He appeared nervous and was a little smooth. Give this kid some time and he could do something but it will be another 3-4 years before he is there.
The figure had large numbers in each class and the top 3 places could go a number of ways without much arguement.
A few pics...

Heathe looked great but looks to have pretty narrow shoulders. How bout we see some side shots. Is that Chris Perticari in the first callout on the right reppin NJ?!
-
Mo looks great. Looks like he dialed it in.
-
Phil looks great.
-
Phill does look a bit narrow in the shoulders. His shoulder to waist ratio is not the best... His back sweap needs to improve on his front db biceps pose. His lats don't pop out like ie Shawn ray, flex wheeler, Ronnie etc. These are things he can work on as he is young and just getting started. Other than that he's a freak and looks like a pro bber already.
Mo Looks great to, he's got a crazy back! and having a good back can take u far in this sport.. Looks to be a little bit off hopefully he tightens up for the night show.
Thanks for the pics lift.
-
They all look smooth as f**k? What happened?
especially Mo, legs in particular.
-
Mo looks good in those 2 pics. He's got a lot of potential...

Go ahead Mo.

any pics of the light heavies
-
phil looks like he hit it...but Mo looks way off...I know he has to be able to look better than that..he looks way smooth and where are the arms and forearms..Thats too bad, was hoping for a good showing...
-
dude his arms are 20+ offseason probably 19+ here he just has such a big rib cage they look smaller.

I dont care how big his arms are, if they dont match with his body then something is wrong....They dont even look like 19 right there, but I figure that might be because there isnt much defintion or vasuclarity in them to make them look bigger....Thought his wheels would be bigger and better too...
-
How could that guy to phil's left have those monster wheels and such a crappy upper body....too bad...if he catchs up with himself he will be dangerous...
-
Mo isn't even close to the condition he was in when he was younger.

Yes it is.

Agreed-hamstrings and glutes are terrible! I dont understand what the hype about this guy is? He has potential but needs some major work on his legs and chest. Great back but that wont win him the show MattT ::)
-
Phil took the entire show. He lived up to the hype and then some. He turned the heads of many, many people. He will be a pro in due time and has the physique to do some damage on the pro level.
Look out USAs - Phil is bringing it and looking to leave a pro.
I had a good chat with Melvin Anthony and he had a lot of grea points on Phil taking his time and I completely agree.
Mo was way off but he's young and if he keeps his head in it, he'll could do something down the road.
Peace

Mo peaked at age 17, it seems.
Is he doing something different now that prevents him from reaching that same level of thickness and conditioning he had at 17 while *natural*?

Maybe he burned out his receptors to early and his body no longer responds to anabolics ???
-
yeah, he definintely looked like he was using at age 17, without a doubt.
If not, when he did start using, ages 18-20, he should have made phenominal gains by age 21.
-
hey, I never claimed to be the best looking 21-year old in the nation.
mo did.
-
He only fucked up his prep that isn't a desaster, he will bounce back. I think his biggest mistake was that he didn't start dieting early enough. He was in a rush and lost a lot of muscle size. No way he should have been lower than 220 looking at his off season pics.
he isn't finish, just wait and see
-
Now it seems he is saying he wasn't peaking for this show, that he is peaking for the collegiates?

Yea! Sounds good - I'm really not a betting man, but I'll put $20 I'll beat em if you're man enough to walk up to me and ask for it if he beats me after the show. If I win, keep it and get an education.

I think you generally have to be careful of the silent ones. Phil was a silent one, he had Isaac doing the hype for him. Mo did the exact opposite. Look what happened.
Let's see if Mo's first meal after the contest is "crow." ;D
-
LiftStudio: Where are the pics?? :D
-
Humility is a strong trait. Maybe if you are Ronnie you can talk like that.
I give the guy credit though, he got up on stage to be judged, more balls than most.

Lift
Thanks for giving us a sneak peek at a real future pro - Phil Heath. Scrubs like Mo, an amateur Kamali at best, spmetimes need a spanking before they go to their room and hibernate for a year before coming back with more self-generated hype.
Like I said two weeks ago, one look at Phil and you could tell he was a freak.
Sadly, this bitter and crushing blow to Mo will only inspire him to double his dosages and take even greater risks with his health. Amazing that when a guy with potential like Phil gets some hype, Melvin is there to respond and bring him down to size, but when a loser like Mo posts every five minutes, none of the pros offer any advice, such as "Give it up Mo, you'll kill yourself before you get your pro card." It's a real shame.

Hardly. I doubt he weighed 180 without drugs.
-
mo's back looks awsome. i think he needs to bring his arms way up to compete with the bigger guys. the rest of his body looks great, its just his arms that are small.
-
or stupidity
speaking of stupidity....where'd you get your nickname buddy?
-
I keep hearing he "owned" the show...but does that mean Phil took first in his class and first overall?
-
I was there in Chicago and when Big Phill stepped out it was OVER!!! Everyone in the crowd that knew anything knew it was the man's show to win. He has pro written all over him; his physique flowed, he was peeled, he was very round, and his overall stage presentation was perfect and was not cocky on stage. If he looks like this he will win his class at the USA's. Plus everyone said he looked like Shawn Ray in the face so that means Richard, Phill, and Shawn are all brothers seperated at birth :) This is not just my opinion; it was others as well including some pros sitting behind me. Congrats to Phill it was his period!
Peace!
;)
-
When your moms is done blowing you, please have her call me
congrats, now he can go and finish 15th at the nats. for a coupla years, and then get on stage with the pros and look like a concentration camp resident.

I posted on another thread about Phillips potential. If he brings up is front poses he can be a pro. From the rear and sides he looks great. The front poses are a little shaky at this time. I dont see him taking the USA Title.

As I mentioned here weeks ago - anyone who had seen him in person knew without a doubt he is a pro in the making. I wouldn't be on here hyping him if I didn't see and believe it myself. Those are some awesome shots of Phil and you can see his conditioning. Like someone else mentioned, he stayed silent and those are the ones you need to watch out for. Anyone who met Phil at this show knows he is a humble, gracious competitor. He's got a great future ahead of him. He's currently in Cali doing a photoshoot. Word is he's going to be dunking a basketball in one of the shoots. Yeah - imagine that body dunking!
If anyone is in Colorado, Phil is guest posing at the Colorado State show in Downtown Denver. Mark Dugdale and 2003 Jr Nationals winner, Dillion Armburst are also guest posing. Should be a great show along with 3 great guest posers.
Look for Phillip in Vegas and I will have more updates later this week.
As far as Mo goes, he's young and has potentional. Backstage and on stage he appeared to be nervous and lack confidence. It takes a helluva lot of work to get on that stage, so props to himf or going through with it. He's a work in progess and if he keeps his head on straight can get there in time.
Peace

The problem with people who are mediocre is that they generally want to shoot anybody down who displays even a hint of self confidence to make them feel like they're not missing out on achieving something in their life.
I'm not saying all of you here are necessarily in that mindset, just that if I was that bothered by what he says I might consider myself in that group (and there are some of you here - the mediocre are the majority). The comments regarding Mo's demeanour backstage make it clear that he's under no delusion when it comes to the crunch. He knows the truth.
That being said, it pays to keep your trap shut about this type of thing. Externalising it really doesn't make it any more effective and just rubs everybody up the wrong way. The best way to get there is with implicit belief in yourself and inviting people to shoot you down constantly doesn't really help.
A bit of a reality check is needed every now and again Mo. Not a flood.

u guys all talk about mo like he the next mr o, hell this guy will hardly make pro. Hes looks good, but to be a pro..., think will harris, the guys 40+ and mo, its not an aesthetic physique....and size wont necessarily make him a pro.

Sorry but Mo doesn't look any bigger than he did at 19. He looks great but he hasn't improved much since then.

I was there competing this weekend (6th LHW) and had read all of Isaac's hype and looked at the pictures up till 11 days out.
Let me be the first to eat a little crow and say that I didn't think Phil was "all that" from the pictures......but as soon as he stripped down to get on the scale, I knew it was lights out....show over.
Congrats to Phil. He's the real deal, my friend. Best of luck in Vegas next month.
-
What is Mo's height and weight?
He may just be reaching his potential for where he's at with diet/gear/training.
At this point he can stay where he is, or try to push one of these factors, to reach a new level. It may be time to trade in those receptors.

THis guy is from Jersey. He would have had a hard time making top five at the Jersey State looking at the pics. BTW Chris Perticari- 2nd ,Darin Dudash- 5th both from NJ had him beat by a mile.
