Title: Dems: 'Get Ready, We're Reconciling'
Post by: James on March 04, 2010, 07:09:51 AM
Get ready, we’re reconciling”— that’s what House Democrats are telling Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee. Ryan says Democrats are planning to “mark up a budget-reconciliation package as early as next Wednesday, which is probably a week before reconciliation will actually occur.” For now, he says, “they’re in the middle of trying to cut their deals,” all while “public outrage is building, not waning.”

this POS is gonna pass.  The moderate dems on msnbc yesterday refused to promise to vote against it - even if it included the abortion wording they originally promised to vote against.

240 - this really is going to start a political CW2 and result in open warfare politically like we have NEVER seen.

i dunno... dems turned congress upside down after a 12 year repub strangelehold on the iraq war issue... and i dont see the level of outrage (yet) on healthcare that we saw on the war.  I know, you saw 4 old people pissed off at a roundtable complaining about healthcare... but i'm talking about tens of thousands of people holding rallies all over the country specifically to protest healthcare.  it's just not happening (yet).

The fact that you're arguing on a message board, 33, and not organizing an anti-hc rally in your town is disheartening.

So basically they are going to say fuck the rules in the "budget reconsiliation" bill and just push forward. Any Dem with a brain in their head will run from this shit sandwich. I really hope this blows up in Obama's face, then we can simply ride out the next 3 years, because he will have been castrated and more useless then he is now.

Obama is going to end up like the son in Gladiator, drunk with power and self destructs with his dictatorial and repulsive impluses.

The guy has no real life experience in anything that I can tell, aside from being and "inciter" for ACORN. Is this is what it has come to? This is the best America has to offer as their leader?

Anyone think the threats from the Democrats of using  "reconciliation" is just a bluff ?

I told the staffer this morning that I personally will stand in fron of Loweys' office with my DTOM flag if she votes for this disgrace and asked why she was silent on the massive tax increase us NY'ers will get from the medicade expansion.

"You dont see the outrage? There was more protests over this then there was over the war."

GETBIG members, do you agree with BILLY?

Do you see a GREATER number of protests about healthcare than you ever did about the iraq war?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protests_against_the_Iraq_War

Wiki lists the iraq war protests.  You can look at the US ones alone - Traffic being closed, schools and govt buildings shut down, protestors storming Raytheon, and repeated assemblies of tens of thousands of americans.  I have not yet seen 10,000 americans stand in one place to protest healthcare.

Can you please list some of the major health care protests Billy?  I must have missed them.  (And please, don't cite any rallies that were just anti-obama... these have to be strictly against healthcare, as the Iraq protests were all about the iraqi war).  if you cite some glen beck rally about taxes when healthcare was still in its infancy, it's gonna look weak...

It all depends. According to Rush Limbaugh, this is all about the House, not the Senate. He claims that the House has to pass the Senate bill, as is (funded abortions, "Cornhusker Kickback", etc). And word is that Team Obama is quite short on votes.

Here's more:

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter whether or not the Senate passes changes to its health care bill via reconciliation. That’s because the reconciliation process cannot even begin until after the House passes the Senate bill exactly as it passed the Senate on Christmas Eve. That means it must pass with the abortion language already rejected by Rep. Bart Stupak and others still intact. It also must pass with the outrageous pork barrel spending deals cut for Nebraska, Louisiana, Connecticut, and others. In other words, the bill must pass the House with everything in it that the American people have already made clear they hate.

How could the Dems be so stupid to think that passing an unpopular and unwanted POS Bill, by reconciliation would be a good thing ?

Maybe the  Democrats are just using the threat of "Reconciliation" to get the Senate version passed by the House with the promise of making changes later, as the Dems know if they do use reconciliation, they will pay and even bigger come November than they currently are set to already.

The carriers are going to pass their bs on to the providers who in turn are going to get screwed.  I keep trying to explain this to Big Mal since he is in med school, but he is too brainwashed to see the reality of this disaster.

This could explain his bending over backwards to get Republican participation when it was so painfully obvious the Republicans had no desire to co-operate in any way shape or form. It makes it that much easier to ram through. But then again, all the Republican opposition could very well be a ploy to allow the Democrats to ram through legislation. Considering how Washington works (the real players who pull the politicians strings) ...it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Why should they work with him on this?

1.  Individual mandate to purchase private insurance.
2.  600 billion in new taxes.
3.  500 billion in medicare cuts only to fund new entitlements.
4.  Community ratings boards.

They can't ram anything through. This is about the House. The House has to pass the Senate version of the bill AS IS, or this goes nowhere. To date, Pelosi doesn't have the votes.
