i agree with jwb in regard to Phil doing a vacuum whilst doing a front double bicep pose as it takes away from his back width by leaning forward and flexing his abdominals.

give yourself a medal dickhead.

phil needs to raise his ribcage up and not flex his abs down during this pose... cutler even mentioned this during the MD report I just read a few minutes ago.

Gutler giving advice on how to to a front double biceps, surely you jest. Phils front double bi is far superior to anybody getting around in the pros currently, including the homo kai.

yes he does it the same way Levrone did it. Crunching abs.

this is the proper way imo

Phil needs to change the way he hits poses more than just the front double biceps. He also needs work on his front lat spread, side chest, and abs & thigh. It's a shame that bodybuilding is a sport about illusions yet most of these guys aren't displaying their physique to the fullest.

Useless advice. No pro ever changed the way they do their poses.

apparently Phil listened to the posters on bb.com who said he shouldn't flex his forward pec during the side chest. Anyway, whether he changes or not has no effect on me. I just find it sad how a few minor tweaks could mean the difference in placings - or quite a bit of grand - yet most of these guys whose livelihood is dependent on displaying their physiques never listen. I don't know if it's an ego thing or not.

phil actually holds it almost right for a split second before he crunches down - he still needs to inhale more air and hold the elbows farther forward.

the problem with flexing the abs is that you shift your elbows back which takes away from both arm and lat size.

I have said that many times before and I actually sent him an email once saying “Please try to hit the FDB Pose while vacuuming your stomach”, but I don’t see him listening to me yet  :-\

I wish to see him please at least 2nd behind Jay Cutler ONLY.

I think he looks better the way he does it, crunching down instaed of lifting up.  Not every bodybuilder can do a "vacuum" I think Melving is the only pro hat can do thta pose of the curent top pros.  For bodybuilders that can do the Vacuum, Haney, Arnold, Ray, etc it looks much better that way.

I agree that very few bodybuilders can do a "true" vacuum today - they simply take too many drugs to be able to.

However, by crunching down with the abs instead of holding them in and lifting the ribcage up, they miss out on showing a their torso size to it's maximum - especially the lats and serratus.

Narrow guys like phil and paco need that width illusion more than anyone.
