Pure strength from Nathan was pretty impressive, given the fact that he knows little about technique and Magnus was a former european champion. The break was down to very bad technique from Nathan, his leverage had gone due to Magnus gaining control of his wrist.

Do you think Fedor could take him in a fight match?

Samuelsson closed the captains of crush no. 4 gripper in 2004. I believe only 5 people in the world have been able to do it. He says your grip and forearm strength is your weak link in armwrestling, so developing this, along with proper technique, is key.

I know a few guys who weighed less than 200 pounds would kill Magnus in an armwrestling match. At least back when I competed, maybe not now. Grip is important but speed and technique combined with tendon strength will kill any bodybuilder or powerlifter or strongman. It is very hard to lift weights and depend on thst to win you matches in the pros. I lifted as hard and heavy as anyone in any gym I have trained at. After a day of matches I was in a sling for 2 to 3 days. They guys who are unreal and are hard to beat are the guys who armwrestle all the time. They get there tendon strength at an very high level and combine that with speed and strength....forget. Then is comes down who can win at the start most of the time.

X2 = Yep armwrestling is about technique there is a skill to it, the biggest and strongest do not always win.

A few of the guys are very strong, Alexey Voevoda springs to mind.
-
doesnt matter how big the guy is if he's got a weaker hand+ forearm. see nathans flopped wrist + shoulder pressing with shoulder in front of his hand = baaaad position
these guys are the top 2 armwrestlers in the world right handed. they may not look like much for a bodybuilder but believe me they are super strong!

Keith, have you ever tried closing the #3 grip?

No, I have never used one of those before. I gripped 45 lb plates, DB wrist curls and would hang from the chin up bar with either weight hanging or my training partner pulling on me. I had a pair of grips in my car I used all the time. they were the black handle kind. But I would take off the S ring and bend the ends up then replace the S ring. It would make them 5 times harder. I always had friends try them. I think just a couple could close them or come close.
