Title: Tim Tebow scores 22 on wonderlic test
Post by: big L dawg on March 11, 2010, 02:10:51 PM
The heavily-guarded Wonderlic test scores from the NFL Scouting Combine have started to leak out. From the Twitter page of Palm Beach Post writer Edgar Thompson:

Gators QB Tim Tebow scored a 22 on his Wonderlic, Jimmy Clausen 23, Colt McCoy 25 and Sam Bradford 36 out of 50, per NFL source.

The Wonderlic, a timed, 50-question exercise, tests the aptitude of draft prospects. The official results of the tests are distributed by the NFL to the 32 teams after the combine, with scores occasionally leaking out. Other noteworthy QB scores that have been reported in the past: Ryan Fitzpatrick (Harvard) 49, QB Matthew Stafford (Georgia) 38, QB Mark Sanchez (28), Michael Vick (20) and Vince Young (15, after getting a 6 on first attempt).

I guess the "Wndrlic" is just a clever way for Owners, coaches, etc to cover their asses and not be called a blatant racist. Seriously, who wants a black QB in the NFL?

yea it tells me he was never smart enough to go to a team with a chance to win the superbowl...

Marino never won a Super Bowl too.. I care a lot more about a qb's score on the wonderlic than i do in the 3 cone drill.  point is scoring a 22 doesn't help his cause. at least we know he has slightly better decision making skills  than your average security officer

Marino didn't win shit! He was a wasted cokehead. Its easy to pad HOF stats on a shit team. Take look at top tier playoff teams and their QB's. Just an observation.

It is a timed test as well...tebow kept asking himself how would god answer this question...Had he just prayed for a better score before hand I'm sure he would have scored higher...

At the rate of the facts coming out showing major differences between scores of white and black QB's I would say yes. But like someone already said, it is probably a bias test geared towards the white players.... 8)

tebow is tough as a bag of rocks, and about as smart too.

He's a good kid, but just a little simple.  In Florida, he had NFL quality receivers - he just had to toss the ball deep and his guy would always outjump the defender.  Toss in the fact he always had a very good RB to run the ball, it left him wide open to knock over a guy or two and run in lots of TDs.  He is religious and a great role model, so he got a lot of coverage - he's a winner at the college level.

He's trying hard, but he's probably just at the peak of his physical abilities.  He's not quick enuogh to be a halfback at the pro level.  He can't throw deep or accurate.  He's very average at this point.  Somebody should grab him and make him a safe 3rd string QB, holding a clipboard and giving fans somebody to yell for when the starter throws a pick.

I'm betting JAX in early 3rd round grabs him.  Hometown hero that'll sell jerseys and tickets, even if he only plays scrub time.

Is this a compulsory test, Coach!? If I'd played D1 ball, had my degree in hand and had a few teams offering me NFL cash, I'd tell them to go fark themselves.  ???

Yep. But on the other hand if you knew you about to his the lottery (the NFL lottery) would you still tell them to f**k themselves? Those players are there by invite only, you can't just walk on with a hope and a dream! But of course you get the degree, the average life of an NFL player is about 4 years for most positions.

Is the 4 years including QB's coach seems like they last longer, if having a good offensive line.

Not so much anymore. NCAA has cracked down on athletes in regards to academics. Last I heard they are limited to 20 hrs of practice time including S&C. Thats for all sports. I have a copy of the NCAA rules from last year, I will dig it out and see.

Hmm. I willing to bet that if you walk on with some serious speed or arm-strength, there's no depth that these teams won't go to sign you. It's all about the $.

not sure what your lookin at...look at the historical scores....now look at everyone that scored 30 or higher...Steve young, tom Brady, drew bledsoe,Eli manning, john elway...those 5 guys have what 9-10 superbowls wins combined...now look at the rest of the list 11 guys 2 superbowls wins...thats not coincidence...

there are exceptions but the test does mean somthing especially for quarterbacks...

I have *some* football smarts, but there's a huge difference between making the right decision at home in front of my TV and doing it with a 245-lb defensive end bearing down on me.

Of course, being only 5-10 didn't help my chances either. I'm not even as tall as Goodrum. *sigh*
