The heavily-guarded Wonderlic test scores from the NFL Scouting Combine have started to leak out. From the Twitter page of Palm Beach Post writer Edgar Thompson:
Gators QB Tim Tebow scored a 22 on his Wonderlic, Jimmy Clausen 23, Colt McCoy 25 and Sam Bradford 36 out of 50, per NFL source.
The Wonderlic, a timed, 50-question exercise, tests the aptitude of draft prospects. The official results of the tests are distributed by the NFL to the 32 teams after the combine, with scores occasionally leaking out. Other noteworthy QB scores that have been reported in the past: Ryan Fitzpatrick (Harvard) 49, QB Matthew Stafford (Georgia) 38, QB Mark Sanchez (28), Michael Vick (20) and Vince Young (15, after getting a 6 on first attempt).
-
I should have posted this on the religious board...
-
I guess the "Wndrlic" is just a clever way for Owners, coaches, etc to cover their asses and not be called a blatant racist. Seriously, who wants a black QB in the NFL?

Worthless test. Dan Marino scored a 15 on his so that tells you a lot ::)

yea it tells me he was never smart enough to go to a team with a chance to win the superbowl...
"Seriously, who wants a black QB in the NFL?"
agreed...
-
Marino never won a Super Bowl too.. I care a lot more about a qb's score on the wonderlic than i do in the 3 cone drill. point is scoring a 22 doesn't help his cause. at least we know he has slightly better decision making skills than your average security officer

:o
dan marino is as dumb as vince young the 2nd time around. you must be related to methodcrackhead101
-
is it pure coincidence that the bottom 2 scores are black guys?
-
Marino didn't win shit! He was a wasted cokehead. Its easy to pad HOF stats on a shit team. Take look at top tier playoff teams and their QB's. Just an observation.
-

lol i'm sure the test is biased towards whites, maybe they should word the questions using ebonics
-
It is a timed test as well...tebow kept asking himself how would god answer this question...Had he just prayed for a better score before hand I'm sure he would have scored higher...
-
Does anyone know what Peyton Manning scored?
-
What did JeMarcus score on it?
-
I foresee at least one GB'r ending up in Timeout for racism! Lol

At the rate of the facts coming out showing major differences between scores of white and black QB's I would say yes. But like someone already said, it is probably a bias test geared towards the white players.... 8)
-
tebow is tough as a bag of rocks, and about as smart too.
He's a good kid, but just a little simple. In Florida, he had NFL quality receivers - he just had to toss the ball deep and his guy would always outjump the defender. Toss in the fact he always had a very good RB to run the ball, it left him wide open to knock over a guy or two and run in lots of TDs. He is religious and a great role model, so he got a lot of coverage - he's a winner at the college level.
He's trying hard, but he's probably just at the peak of his physical abilities. He's not quick enuogh to be a halfback at the pro level. He can't throw deep or accurate. He's very average at this point. Somebody should grab him and make him a safe 3rd string QB, holding a clipboard and giving fans somebody to yell for when the starter throws a pick.
I'm betting JAX in early 3rd round grabs him. Hometown hero that'll sell jerseys and tickets, even if he only plays scrub time.
-
What did JeMarcus score on it?
think JR scored a 9 the first time he took it.. i went to school w/ JR and he would probably fail an eye exam if he had perfect vision
-
I don't know what the big deal is people. It's about the average score, some score higher, some lower. Take into consideration they have 50 questions and 12mins to do it in.

Is this a compulsory test, Coach!? If I'd played D1 ball, had my degree in hand and had a few teams offering me NFL cash, I'd tell them to go fark themselves. ???

You would tell who that? The NFL?

That's my point, Coach. The NFL has some (psychological) mandate to issue IQ tests!? ???

he got a 24 out the gates....I remember this b/c I felt he was a complete dumbazz for never learning the art of the check down in 2006. I'll never forgive him vs auburn and florida.....terrible jamarcus....just terrible.
the raiders....lol.

Yep. But on the other hand if you knew you about to his the lottery (the NFL lottery) would you still tell them to f**k themselves? Those players are there by invite only, you can't just walk on with a hope and a dream! But of course you get the degree, the average life of an NFL player is about 4 years for most positions.

Is the 4 years including QB's coach seems like they last longer, if having a good offensive line.

I don't doubt that. That type of shit happens all the time.
-
the wonderlic is cool because if you score (i think) a "5" (or below......or something like that) you are, technically, a "moron"
-

Not so much anymore. NCAA has cracked down on athletes in regards to academics. Last I heard they are limited to 20 hrs of practice time including S&C. Thats for all sports. I have a copy of the NCAA rules from last year, I will dig it out and see.

Hmm. I willing to bet that if you walk on with some serious speed or arm-strength, there's no depth that these teams won't go to sign you. It's all about the $.

You'd have to get noticed outside the combine to get invited in the combine.

That was the Georgia Bulldogs QB, right? Seriously, who in their right mind would pay their QB of the future millions of $$ when they have 1/2 a brain?
Baltimore, Indianapolis
N.Y. Jets, San Diego
Arizona, New Orleans
Dallas, Minnesota
These were the final 8 playoff teams this past NFL season.......they all have one thing in common.
-
think i know where u are going dov... pretty sure chris leak scored an 8 and akili smith scored a 9.. i don't think tebow's SAT was too impressive coming out of HS so the wonderlic score kind of makes sense
damn.. just googled and jamarcus did score 24.. must've been vince young i was thinking of
-

And yet the most brilliant QB of all time... If the man retires and doesn't go into coaching he will be doing the world a huge dis-service
-
I'm surprised Russell even got 24.
http://walterfootball.com/draftwonderlica.php
It's 1:40am and I just scored 45 on that sample test...the 5 minutes goes by really quickly this late at night.

Eff the Gators!!!

no...u have to be in D and E2 track in catholic high school, or remedial and special ed in public school. no wonder why most of them dont even bother with class during college. damn 2nd grade quiz. how does anybody in the national felon league remember the playbook with the exception of 1-2 players per team who defy the odds.

tell me how the saints became america's team? now...nobody remember they even won the game but these a$$clowns in louisiana.
Proof:
1 NFL donated 30M to keep team in town
2 America's Team ::). What happen to Dallas?
3 The Feel Good Story
4. Saints winning awards katrina awards 4 yrs later
5 Best ratings ever for a sporting event for a worthless small market team
Mega BS Marketing.

Yep, the pathetic QB that played for Dallas, then run into legal and drug problems. Don't know what he is doing now, last I'd heard he might have either played arena football or the CFL.

Like I said, a worthless test for football players as it doesn't accurately measure any assessment of their possible overall performance in their career.

not sure what your lookin at...look at the historical scores....now look at everyone that scored 30 or higher...Steve young, tom Brady, drew bledsoe,Eli manning, john elway...those 5 guys have what 9-10 superbowls wins combined...now look at the rest of the list 11 guys 2 superbowls wins...thats not coincidence...
there are exceptions but the test does mean somthing especially for quarterbacks...
-
I'm surprised Russell even got 24.
He probably copied off of one of the other guys.
-
So, are you a qualified NFL QB since you scored higher than the greatest?? lol
I just test really well.
I have *some* football smarts, but there's a huge difference between making the right decision at home in front of my TV and doing it with a 245-lb defensive end bearing down on me.
Of course, being only 5-10 didn't help my chances either. I'm not even as tall as Goodrum. *sigh*
-
Vince Young' score of a 6 aside. Jeff George's score of 10 is pretty funny...He has to be a borderline retard between the ears...
-
Tebbow will look cool in a Dallas jersey holding a clipboard.
-
Funny how they never show these guys SAT scores or even their GPA!!!!
-
Tebow had his pro day today and all the reports are that he smoked it.came out with better foot work a new delivery
and looked great.

I hear Dunlap out ran Spikes in the 40 but Spikes may be currently injured or just took the day off. I like all the Gators especially Spikes....he looks like the perfect MONSTER IN THE MIDDLE!!!

At pick 15 Mclain might be gone and it might be to early to pick Spikes.
