Yes, 80's is really the best era... it's just too good.. nobody can top it... so many great singers, michael jackson, george michael... so many good guitar players, sax players, pianist, jazz musicians, it's just amazing... what I think is cool is that so many guys on this board like 80's music... going to the gym and listening to 80's music just fits together, it's basically the same mentality, being the best you can ;) and I just died in your arms tonight is such a great great song... here's another great one
and check this one out, the singer paul shortino has an awesome voice, this song just screams SEX:

Prince...I would die 4 you
Great Song! I like it when he starts to go crazy and shouts those lyrics... :D
The comment about careless whisper and driving at night through the city... it sure is magic... in those moments I couldn't be happier, I just can't ask for more... it's basically just driving around and listening to music, but still... the feeling is incomparable...
-
Anything by Van Halen. I heard Poundcake on the radio today and cranked that sum-bitch on my ride to the grocery store.

Although I'm a 21 years old and although I still have my whole life in front of me, I feel like I've missed out on so many good things... when I see those 80's videos and the people from back then... wish I had memories like these (i'm not refering to boy george vids etc. :D)... instead I have memories of listening to limp bizkit as a 15 year old because I didn't know there was much superior music out there... it kinda sucks...

This is a great thread because I too am stuck in the 80's, but more into the R&B, hip hop/rap, swingbeat, soul direction
So I suggest to start a thread for that direction instead of weeding through van Halen, Queensryche, Metallica etc
Not putting them down put it's just not what I'm listening to and it would be more time consuming to go through this thread finding music of my liking such as what crownshep posted (forgot about the Jamaica Funk tune, downloading it right now, thanks!)
With that said, let me contribute to my non-black music choice:
Even named my daughter after this song
Early 90's but still:
-
Electro music in the early years
speed it up to 78rpm and then you get this :D

If you're going electronic you can't leave out this gem from 1986 with samples from a 1970 tune. How much more "ahead of his time" do you want to get? Kurtis rocks!! Still does! (check my username ;))

Mantronix is a talented dude...no doubt.
Trying to remember that instrumental he put out around 84-85
-
Their first single was Fresh is the Word in '85. But it wasn't instrumental.
They played the instrumental alot on the radio as well though.
Or this is not the one you had in mind?

I see you posted Kraftwerk which reminds me of this one:
