I saw this interview recently and thought to myself...this panel must not have known he was going to say the things he said, or they would have cut to some other news real quick. Sullenburger (Sic) essentially TRASHED the airline industry with this exit speech. Informing of inexperienced pilots, putting money first and safety last, salaries being cut, essentially no pension, terminations that can come on a whim etc etc. I am sure the airline industry will not be waving him around as a hero anymore after this, but I am glad he spoke up. Seems it is becoming the norm world wide to strip salaries to bare minimum in every industry, profession and trade. Soon the stewardesses will be serving food, drinks, cleaning bathrooms and flying the plane.

I applaud his courage. If there's anyone that will listen to somebody with the "inside scoop" on airline travel, it's him.

More people need to have big sack like this guy to just stand up and tell it like it is, i would rather hear that than some sugar coated lies

Thank God he lives in a country where he could say all those things. If he lived in any socialist or communist country he would have been taken outside and shot in the head. Or would have misteriously disappeared a week later.
How is Venezuela doing these days? Do they like their factories opening less days and less hours each week? They must enjoy the rationing of electricity on top of it all.
Living the socialist dream with a maniacal tyrant as its leader. We should all be so lucky.

Sullenberger is a true hero if there ever was one. I jet ski in that area and its amazing to think how he did what he did.

ironic statement considering how long the type of stuff you're talking about in south and central america has mostly occured by and for the right with our support.
also funny considering they put a lid on those remarks by sully as quick as they could. if he had said those things in south america, there's a chance he could have been killed by the rightwing with support from the right in america.

My uncle is one of the heads of the FAA in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Guess what, he refuses to fly on commercial airliners.
He will drive 20+ hours to Maryland to see family before he will hop on a plane; and the kicker is he can fly for free anywhere in the US.
That right there says a lot of the airport system in America.

As much as I'd like to, it's just not practical for many people to drive over the holidays. Especially those having to travel from one coast to the other with limited time off from work. I'd spend my entire time off just driving to see my family and have none left to drive back.
While it's the "in" thing to be saying right now, it's just not within many people's means to avoid flying.

I would also like to thank the TSA for reminding everyone that flying is very dangerous for the radiation exposure alone.

now add backscatter scans each time you fly that could be 20 times higher then previously stated...
If you're dating a frequent flyer, you may want to consider dumping them or avoid having kids, unless you're into birth defects and going broke from cancer treatments... :D

good point. especially for those on the board telling people to shut up and don't fly if they don't like what the tsa/gov is doing.
