"not to digress but i find that weight to be very suspect, no way we he that much heavier then then next heaviest competitor"
Yeah, that does sound odd. haney 243 pounds... Gaspari 209 pounds?

strydom must have been pretty close to him in weight as well
-
Remember Haney was over 5'10" so 243 sounds about right.

not in 88 strydom overdieted big time was ripped to the bone but very, very small, back was very obvious weak point at this show, but he rebounded and was legit 260 at wbf with a good back not great but improved.demey was tall but was ripped at 227 that yr.haney was the biggest then ,he was waiting for big vic richards but as we know that never happened.

5'10 sounds a little generous., rich gaspari is a SHORT dude, i have seen him in person a few times, and in that pic, he does not have more then 2 inches on gaspari
so say he is 5'8 243......thats like phil heath at the arnold
he isnt that heavy

i think haney was listed at 5'11,gaspari 5'8

I know Lee and he is over 5'10".

I wish I could post links to my site. :(
Rich was weighed in at 209 and 1/2 pounds. Everyone was officially weighed in. I don't really think Rich is particularly short - he is around 5'8 even. Lee claimed he was 5'11 and 1/2. He was definitely over 5'10 and I think Lee's cited height was accurate. I would say that in 1987 Rich was 220.
-
Matt, that pic of Gaspari showed his neck was faaaarrrr bigger than his arms were :-X.
As far a Brian Buchanan, it has been said that he has a food stand in London.
-
Pictures don't do Lee Haney justice...His back and chest were massive...Shawn Ray was 210...And Ray has said many times that Lee Haney was a just a massive man...25 to 30 pounds heavier then Shawn? I would say so...

Good point about Rich's neck. :-X :-X :-X
I have also heard that about Brian. Someone who lived in the same city confirmed it.

LMAO ;D

im all for having a small waist, but
anyone besides be actually find buchanon's waist to be simply too small
it looks freakish and disturbing to me, like a sideshow act
-
The 88 Olympia was the first time competitiors were weighed in front of the cameras, all the weights are legit. The pics posted are from the 85 Olympia.

Well, it's been said that he squated 550-600 pounds for reps, so it ain't that small, and if true, squatting heavy doesn't really affect the waist...look at Melvin Anthony as a example.
-
Good point good to hear he is back in London livin the dream.

doing alot of complex power-driven movements like squating and deadlifting could probably thicken the waist to some extent.....look at how stumpy most powerlifters are
but genetics are what dictate waist size
i still hold my opinion that buchanon's waist is disturbingly small.....it just looks anthropomorphically incorrect

London weather is always so nice.

Remember the trick Duchaine used in order to spell the word cunt?
