Title: ON Whey Gold Standard
Post by: calfzilla on March 19, 2010, 03:49:27 PM
Optimum Nurtition Gold Standard whey protein is the best I have ever had.  It mixes well with no clumps and even tastes great in water!  I have the chocolate and sometimes I add a teaspoon of natural PB to enhance taste.  Just thought I would recommend this to my getbig bros and sisters.

I dig ON, but recently tried Dymatize Elite. Not bad at all.

My favorite is the Orange Cream. That is the stuff!!

The only protein powder I've found to taste better is ALSO from ON: Nitro Core 24 (Strawberry Milkshake). THE BEST PROTEIN POWDER I've every used, bar none!!

If it didn't cost your firstborn to buy it, I'd use it all the time. Thankfully, clearance sales take care of that!!

Agree about the mixing but not about the taste; very bland, especially vanilla.

Which is great when mixing it with other stuff - smoothies, pancakes, etc.

Are you talking about the same product? And why would you get Vanilla, with all those other flavors out there? Try Orange Cream. It's terrific.

But, as I said, the only protein powder that taste better than ON's 100% Whey (Gold Standard) is ON's NitroCore 24, especially the Strawberry Milkshake version.

I’ve never tried an ON powder that I didn’t like as far as mix-ability, taste, and gastric agreement.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with some other brands.

Syntha-6 is my current favorite.
I ordered their chocolate & vanilla.
Vanilla blows chocolate out of the water!
That is the first – and maybe last – powder I will ever say that about.

I like Syntha-6, too. But the only kind I've tried is the Strawberry one. It's not quite as good as NitroCore 24, though.

As I said, I'd use it more often, if I didn't have to take a second mortgage to buy it.

Fortunately, there are other ways around that, such as the 5-lb jub of GNC's 100% Whey Protein, I just bought for $17.

^^ I think I'll stick with my liver tabs.
Not sure I can handle a cold liquid beef puree.

Until GNC starts marking it down, I'll have to get that a pass.

Okay, you got me interested...

Where do you buy the stuff?
Neither of my normal suppliers carries it?
Someplace on Amazon sells it for $44.00 / 12 servings.
What do you pay?

I only recently tried this stuff after having been an 'isolate afficionado' for years and damn, this stuff not only tastes much better but also dissolves much better and gives me no bloat/diarrhea even with high intakes (3-4 scoops at once). Absolutely the best there is

ON includes digestive enzymes in their mixes.
I think that's why a lot of guys who normally have G.I. discomfort/complications with other brands can use it.

Interesting. What's even more interesting, why isnt everyone doing this? It's not that complaints about GI discomfort are rare  :D

A few others have caught on.
If, for some reason, you come across some powder that does not contain any enzymes, you can purchase them yourself.

Maybe consider a multi-formula that includes enzymes for lactose, protein, lipids, and starches.
Since they cover almost everything, you can take them with some of your meals as well.

I can't remember all of the one's I've looked into, but I know for a fact that BSN includes papain & bromelain in their Syntha-6 because I just looked at the container on my shelf.
