Quality arms right there. I think his midsection got too big.

He quit professional bodybuilding and now runs a rare breeds farm and petting zoo near Castle Bromwich, in the West Midlands.
Still a big dude, though.

He got screwed over one time too many by the fair and impartial judging system of the IFBB. :P

Quit professional bodybuilding = a very smart man.

J.D. DAWODU is an angry man. After finally qualifying for the 2001 Mr. Olympia, thank to a forced march halfway around the world earlier in the contest season (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Columbus, Hungary and Australia were all ports of call for this bright lad from London), Dawodu packed on the muscle, packed his bags for Sin City and arrived onstage ready to fight for his right to pose. Unfortunately, the judges put Dawodu in a holding pattern somewhere at the back of the stage. At the end of the night, he was left with an empty feeling in the pit of his stomach and a 17th-place finish in his first Mr. O.
"I'm very disappointed. I came into the show bigger and harder than I've ever been, having spent a lot of time and money preparing for the show. And yet I did not get any callouts with my contemporaries in the sport - DEXTER JACKSON, MELVIN ANTHONY, CRAIG TITUS and KING KAMALI. This is absolute nonsense. Maybe I need to call one of the other guys an a-hole to get a decent look from the judges. What a disgrace."

I think his belly button eventually consumed him.

:o
also check out his workout videos, pretty cool and he actually goes in depth with details.

So, hecprwtty much went from exploiting himself, to exploiting rare animals. How nice.
How many Bear gall bladders has he sold?
-
total lack of thigh sweep but besides that he was awesome.
-
Looks great to me but the typical complaint from any contender who places lower that he expected - is to blame the judges.
It never seem to fail.
Those who constantly complain on boards such as this usually do the same (blame the judges) or are just plain jealous or have never even entered anything that involves competition among a group of guys.
Human nature I would guess.

i seen him a few year back when i was competing in the Leicester show.... he was walking around with shades hanging down underneath his face, like a kind of beard substitute,,, i think this is a kind of 'brother' thing
apart from that, he goes on the list with Ian Harrison, Eddie ellwood and Charles claimant as Brit pros who were totally ripped off...
boils my piss when some of the American guys leapfrog them with totally mediocre physiques...

This thread comes up at least once a year.
Dude is alive and well.
He owns my gym in North London. It had some problems and had to close down for a while....will be open again soon.
J is still thick as hell, tho he no longer competes.
Nice guy too.

Is it dangerous to do squats with all those petting zoo animals wandering around or do they seem to know when its safe to get their ears scratched

Funnily enough I thought the same thing initially. I have it on good word that it'll open in 2 weeks.
...I'll let ya know 8)

I remember that he was a mass-monster for awhile, appearing in the Ironman and/or Arnold one year...then came back later that year during the Toronto Pro completely transformed. He still had a ton of mass on his frame but was smaller, much more ripped and detailed...still got shafted by the judges. MuscleMag International was promoting him for awhile too.
He disappeared without much notice at the time.

Should have placed much higher IMO.

good old 90'sss...
