March 29 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Postal Service would cut Saturday mail delivery starting in the first half of 2011 under a plan the agency will present to its regulator tomorrow.
The Postal Service, which forecasts a $238 billion budget deficit by 2020, says it would save about $3.3 billion in the first year by eliminating delivery on one day and $5.1 billion annually by 2020.
“Given the fact that we’re facing such a huge deficit, we’d like to move as quickly as possible,” Postmaster General John Potter told reporters today in Washington.
The Washington-based Postal Service will file its five-day delivery proposal with the Postal Regulatory Commission. It is also seeking permission from the U.S. Congress, which requires delivery to all U.S. addresses six days a week.

isn't it part of the commie conspiracy to bankrupt the country to pave the way for the full commie takeover
.....wait, sorry I was channeling Glen Beck there for a moment
Since you brought up highways let's use that as an example. You're right you would not stop using the highway but would you favor increased taxes to upgrade and maintain or offer some other solution or would you just go on a message board and rant and rave about what a failure the US government was and how it's just more proof that we're heading toward a full communist state?

Well considering our taxes have gone up time after time after time and the highways are a piece of shit, considering we spend more and more and more on educaion and it gets worse not better, perhaps money isnt the answer, perhaps farming out the work to the private sector would work better.I dont mind paying taxes if I see results.Unfortunately all I see is total absolute failure by the government at every turn.

Obama did it

many states have already sold roads to private (and foreign corporations) who are charging tolls for us to drive on roads in our own country
btw - I'm not saying we need to increase taxes to pay of roads but just using it as an example of a problem in our country that we can address without ranting about communism (which is not something I recall you doing)

It's not really the point. The Post Office took 10 billion from the reserve last year and squandered 70% of it. It's just another drain on our lackluster economy. If Lysander Spooner would have not been railroaded by govt. goons 150 years ago we would not have this problem. The govt. is not concerned about effeciency or you, just excuses to take more of our money. Fortuntately for them most of this country doesn't give a damn, and happily bends right over for them.

Right, very interesting you are going to your anti Republican playbook. I really don't have an agenda when it comes to stemcell research, you are pigeon holing the wrong guy. Stemcells have nothing to do with this, but if it can divert us from the actual subject then go for it. Obviously you can't excuse this crap, so you just throwout school yard barbs. If anyone else would like to discuss the actual subject I'm game.
