im not going to be around alot of weights for awhile so i was wondering if it would be a good idea to get resistance bands to try and keep some of my muscle or at least lean them out? or is there a better solution?

Not enough detail.. how long is a while are you going to jail or something
I have bent over rowed a hotel table.. I have curled a chair.. I have done dips in a bath tub with my feet on a chair numerous times.. I've done wrist curls with a bicycle.. I've curled a bag of golf clubs.. i've done a half dozen different styles of pushups from knuckles to diamond.. Its amazing how creative you can be if you really care.

For a while I was living in the jungle of Ecuador with no gym around at all.
What I did is I took empty luggage and filled it up with water bottles and lifted it. For lots of lifts it worked great. I had this really big suitcase and if I filled it up with water bottles it would probably weight around 100 pounds when full.
Or use rocks, sandbags, tires whatever is heavy that you can get your hands on.
I also got into yoga. It's not exactly a bodybuilding type of thing. But it's a great workout and very healthy.
Or you can run up stairs while holding weights. Just get creative.
Bands are lame. Go for a real workout.
It's sometimes nice to get a break from the gym scene for a while.
