Lifting at home is much better.
Right now i'm hitting my chest and shoulders, blasting punk rock music, reading some news and posting on GetBig between sets, lifting shirtless.
Much better than going to the gym with all the rules and bullshit. No membership fees either.
Fuck going to the gym.

Also there is only one gym in my town. And it's tiny and charges 80$ per month, not worth it.
But now that i'm lifting at home I like it.
And my lifts are pretty strong. I don't try to 1-up people in the gym and I couldn't care less if another guy ther is lifting more than me. I'm not a competetive asshole.
-
I remember once when I was too lazy to go the the gym and my father has 2 22pound dumbells at home, I got more sore from hitting shoulders with those for an intense 30 min then at the gym lol.
-
Yeah i can focus much better lifting at home. I can spit and grunt and make noise, I like it.
And the thing I hate most about the gym is waiting for machines. Never have to do that now.
-
About to start incorporating lifting at home back into my schedule too, I always seem to make pretty good gains doing so.

Why do you say that? Bitch. It only takes me about 20 seconds to recover from a set, then I wait about 2 minutes til the next one usually.

I would definately lift at home if i had my own little gym.
-
If I had an adequate gym at home, I would definitely work out there. However, I would still belong to a gym. I like different atmospheres.
-
I would also love to train at home if I had my own gym.
Would be great to avoid the waiting for equipment and weights, listen to any music you like, etc.

Very convenient but tbh I don't always give it as much oomph as I do on the rare occasion I find myself in a public gym. On the upside there's no lost drive time, locker time, waiting, and I get away with wearing just underwear on squats and deads.
-
I agree, training at home is much better. Commercial gyms suck.
-
I would train at home if I had a rack of DBs and a BB rack. I have none of these things though =\
-
Either way is cool. Sometimes the gym gives additional motivation.
Additionally the bars are way better - standard 45lbs. My bars at home are 22.5 and are rigid as hell.
-
Also there are no scantily clad chicks at home (unless you're lucky).

I'd hate to train at home, even if I had Ronnie's home gym. Like the gym atmosphere and the energy.

so true to easy to say a fuck it dont feel like it today
Exactly. Most people would procrastinate big time. I'd rather go out to lift and leave it all behind when I'm done, so I can relax at home.
Plus, there's lots of eye candy in the gym that makes you lift harder and you can't beat the variety of equipment or have to worry about maintaining it.
-
Both have their adavantages mixing it up is the best.

Yup....I had a well equipped home gym on Long Island and i used it to hang clothes on that i didn't want to put in the drier.
I like the whole process of going to the gym

how are you supposed to "own" any one in a home gym ::)
-
I like to smoke some weed to get in the zone to the fullest alot before I lift, so when I go to the gym it's a little ridiculous. The people can't quit being obnoxious .Tiny shirts on big dudes, guys pacing back in forth trying to look important, the guy who yells too much, the people just laying on the benches, the petergazer in the locker room, people leaving benches sweatty, the flamingos that don't wear shorts cuz their legs are tiny, gym thieves, just crazy amounts of ridiculous every where you look!
It's too much if I do it too often. The only up side are the women that like to show off. And there are a lot of decent people there, but the ridiculous people outweigh them. I train at home 5 out of 6 times. Motivation is never a question for me.

MYYYY GOODDDD!!! :D ;D

For the most part I've been training in my garage till we move it to our gym, but I love it. DB's to 120, 2 racks (1 cage) olympic BP 3000lbs of plates, pulldown, seated row, KB's, 2" rope, bands, chains, preacher bench and kegs.

I'm living in a small city in Northeast Asia. So when I go to the gym it's just a bunch of Asian people doing strange excercises, in strange clothes, and usually everyone in the whole place is staring at me. When I walk in with my tattoos showing hitting the weights, it drops jaws around here. The atmosphere is not motivational and there usually aren't many hotties in there. This isn't a gym on Venice Beach with hot chicks everywhere......
Back home I went to this "hardcore" gym for about 6 years. A dirty old place full of huge guys trying to act like badasses. For a long time I loved it and thought it was motivational and I got into the intense energy there. But after a while it just got obnoxious. Most of the guys in there were trying to show off the whole time for the other men, and after every set they would walk in a little circle and stare at everyone else with an angry look. Everyone had something to prove. I grew out of all that when I was like 21 years old.
Then I went to a different gym that was better. It was just a "normal" gym full of hot women. And the guys acted more mellow. It was so much better.
Fuck those "hardcore" gyms. Usually they just attract a bunch of gangsters, assholes and convicts acting like pricks. And not many hotties.
-
Why do you say that? Bitch. It only takes me about 20 seconds to recover from a set, then I wait about 2 minutes til the next one usually.
From a set with the pink dumbells, yes.

Is this your Gym?? http://www.goldsgym.com/gyms/services.php?gymID=1088

Home gym does it for me. 15 years spent in gyms. No more. Home gym is where it's at. I don't have the machines I would have at a gym, but I've got DB's that go up to 150, a rack, and 600 lbs of free weights. If you can't get big lifting that, you aren't doing it right.
With kids, it's even more important. I can't always get to a gym. Now, once the little ones are asleep, I jet downstairs and in 45, I'm done. No driving, etc...makes it easier on the wife because I'm not out of house. And if I have 5 free minutes per hour, I can do 3 sets of chins in 5 minutes each hour for 5 hours and have a mother of a back workout. It's that easy. Fits my lifestyle now.
Only thing I think I miss is the atmosphere -- there's guys bigger to motivate you...girls...etc...when I was a younger man, there's no way I'd want to train at home when I could be lifting around beautiful girls. But since I got married, had kids, and got neutered, this is a lot better. Not so much the alpha male anymore...more beta than anything else...
But I like being able to lift in a dirty mustard-stained t-shirt and not give a shit what people think.
Exactly. I agree with all that. I'm not a beta male, but I don't give a shit about trying to be an alpha male. I don't need to act like an alpha male asshole to get what I want. I'm not living in the jungle or the woods, i'm living in the civilized world.
The ONLY thing I miss about the gym is the hot women, and the better equipment was nice too.
I used to like going into the sauna a steamroom after lifting too. But in the USA these areas were ALWAYS full of aggressive gay guys and it kind of ruined it. I actually walked in on some guys blowing each other in the steamroom one day.
-
so true to easy to say a fuck it dont feel like it today
For me it's exactly the opposite. It has always been very easy to leave the gym early if I'm feeling lazy, but at home the weights are always there. They don't leave me alone until I finish. ;D
-

Shut the fuck up douche bag.

or,,
people that prefers the gym are the insecure losers that likes to show off for other men?
-

X2....but unlike you the eye candy I look at are female ;)
-
I rotate between my well-equiped home gym and the local (expensive) tiny gym. When you worked out at a new university facility for 4 years and then have to come back to a gym not much larger than my house- it sucks. The scenery is definitely not as nice either ;D
-
Universty training trumps all... plenty of eye candy, you don't have to pay any $, and it's walking space to dorm.
plus during spring break the place is empty!

You guys are a joke. Talking tons of shit about my physique, even though it's not bad at all, and refusing to post your own pics.
Just straight up trolls. Post some pics up little boys. Until then i'll just ignore you because you are probably 16 year old morons.
Or maybe you're the likes of JtTsunami and FatPanda.

very few ppl can train at home seriously!!..
I train very well at home.
The one thing that sucks is that I don't have any cable machines. But besides that it's all good.
It does kind of suck changing the plates all the time too instead of just having them ready.
Besides that there's no difference. I like being about to spit and yell and just not worry about what I look like.
If there was a good gym near me i'm sure I would be there lifting really. But there are 3 gyms near here and they are all tiny, crappy and extremely expensive.
-
Exactly. Most people would procrastinate big time.
Their lack of will power is sickening. If you have will power, training at home works great.
-
very few ppl can train at home seriously!!..
That's because for most people going to the gym is a social activity.
Also, for someone who is a bit too competitive (like me) a home gym has another advantage. If I need to do light rehab work, I can do that at home without feeling embarrassed. In a gym I'd feel like I'd have to up the weight -- and probably worsen my injuries.

i myself like to train at home and the biggest advantage is that you force yourself to do all the hard free weights exercise due to the lack of machines :).. i consider myself one of the few ppl who have the pateint to train alone and to keep changing the weights on the bar or dumbbells for each exercise!!..

seriously it's not so urgent to use machine to get big with good shape.. you can do it the hard way with free weights and chin ups, dips.. etc..
