Yes that is true. Several judges told him his body fat was far too low.

He was before his time in contests back then I think judging was primarly on mass cuts really didnt come into play of course you couldnt be a fat ass, had alot of good ideas trained Larry Scott was a proponent of the high fat low carb diet.

No one in BB history ever lost for being "too ripped"...what he lost for, was not being big enough.

Is that the same vince that derek 'pearl necklace' anthony springer spat upon?

Respectfully, having some idea of what Vince G. was like, I’m sure that in his mind, that’s the conclusion he drew.
I’d imagine that this is kind of how it all went down in Gironda’s head:
A bigger guy beat him, but in Vince’s opinion, the guy wasn’t as lean as Vince.
Ergo, the two competitors carried, essentially, the same amount of muscle, but Vince looked smaller simply because he dieted down more.
Hence, he was penalized for coming in too lean.
In reality, the judges awarded the more muscular of the competitors.
Does the above read like a sound guess, Chick?

Gironda struck me as a guy who believed (& told everyone) "whatever he needed to believe" for his ego.
The man is a legend who had some fantastic ideas, but his ego was second to none.

Vince Gironda once threw me out of his gym for squatting and then shot a man for snoring too loud.
True story.
