Title: George Butler vs Joe Weider
Post by: David M on March 31, 2010, 07:45:15 AM
Nice job to PBW on the George Butler interview. Enjoyed it a lot.  The spot that was great was when George mentioned that Joe Weider did not want to put up any money for Pumping Iron when he needed to raise cash.  And than Dan asked Butler why he never mentioned Joe in the movie.  George gave some bullshit answer saying that we shouldn't read too much into that.  But you could tell that George was just being P.C.  Theres no way that George would exclude Joe Weider unless he was pissed that Joe turned his back on the movie.  I guess thats just typical Weider control.  I wonder if those two are friends now.  Has Joe ever given George an award for anything relating to making the movie?

Strange.  Joe and George should have gone in together on it instead of letting George do it himself with hardly any money.   :-\

If Weider had anything to do with that movie it would have ruined it.  It was perfect the way it was.

There was a brief shot of Joe in pumping iron - when he was directing the photography for some exercise equipment demo'd by Arnold (with Franco in the wings)

One or two lines of Joe Weiders voice was enough.

Apart from that, and Arnold and Franco in the room together there wasn't that much gay shit in the movie. Other than men in thongs (no homo).
