Title: GOP Tries to Take Credit for Popular HC Reform Measures
Post by: Straw Man on April 01, 2010, 10:53:12 AM
classic GOP flip flopping or should I say floundering

the interesting part will be watching some Repubs run on trying to take credit for the parts of the bill they like while others will be runnning on repealing it (something that the smarter repubs have already admitted is virtually impossible - though it hasn't stopped them from trying to raise money on the premise).

Showstoppa - why did you remove your post?

To answer your question - the memo was from John Cornyn who is chairman of the NRCS (National Republican Senatorial Commitee) who's stated purpose is:  "The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is the only political committee solely dedicated to electing Republicans to the U.S. Senate"

I think it's safe to say that he speaks for the GOP don't you?

This is why the GOP needs to be disbanded and a new libertarian party formed and replace the GOP>

Didn't mean to.  Got this thread mixed up with one on the main board.  I think the headline of the story makes it sound like it's some type of "official" party move.  Cornyn certainly doesn't speak for the entire GOP....just like there is not one single person who speaks for the Dems.  But I understand Olberman is just trying to get ratings.

Cornyn is the chairman of of the NRCS so I guess to be completely accurate he speaks for that group and since the chairman of the NRSC is elected every two years by the Republican Senate caucus I guess by extension one could say he speaks for them (and to them)

Here's that groups stated purpose

The NRSC provides invaluable support and assistance to current and prospective Republican U.S. Senate candidates in the areas of budget planning, election law compliance, fundraising, communications tools and messaging, research and strategy
