Title: 2001: A Space Odyssey
Post by: Dos Equis on April 03, 2010, 05:08:01 PM
Finally watched this movie.  It sucked!  Yeah it's a 1968 film, but after reading the reviews about what a groundbreaking, terrific movie it was, I rented it (for free).  Glad it didn't cost me anything.

The only good thing about this movie is I finally know what the opening scenes in History of the World Part I are based on.   :)

I too saw it for the first time only a few months ago and didn't think much of it. I can see why it would have been an "Avatar" of it's time, though.

The recent movie Moon reminded me of 2001 a bit.

Moon was a lot more entertaining.

Blockbuster.  Rent one, get one free.  I'm about to try Netflix.  Do you use?

hmmm,

I found myself feeling the way you did about 2001. I couldn't get past 1/2 hour of Moon, I thought it was dull and somewhat stupid. Does it pick up a bit later?

It does a little.  Not a great movie by any means, but it at least held my attention for the entire movie.

Most of what Hollywood puts out is stupid.  I can't believe some of the crap that makes it onto the screen.
