yeah, I thought he'd be AFC bound.  He'll certainly win against them next year.

Now comes the Q... who will be starting in Philly next year?  No way that goofball beats out Vick.

Vick sucks....I think Kolb will start, but the Eagles are crazy if they think somehow this move gets them closer to a SB title.

It doesn't matter who starts.  They'll be better than McNabb.  Did anyone ever see him leading the team to the Superbowl?  That's the name of the game and he sucks.

Vick or Kolb may be better than McNabb next year but neither have given any evidence at any point in their careers that this will be the case.  McNabb has been one of the best at the position for years.  If Kolb picks up where McNabb left off then it will be a good move for the Eagles unless the addition of McNabb is all the Skins needed to vault past them.

Jason Campbell is far from the Skins only problem.  Any team in that division might as well just play for a wild card.  Cowboys next year take the division.

Yes, we need an offensive line - thats the main problem!  We are awesome in Defense.  Give us an O line, protect Mcnabb, and good things will happen!

Like what?  They win a wild card game and lose in the first round of the playoffs as usual?  McNabb isn't a clutch QB.  He isn't a franchise QB.  Philly finally wised up and got something for him.

He isn't a franchise QB.

Define franchise QB then because I'm lost on that one.  He was the Philadelphia Eagles.  In the last decade no other player even comes close to being more of the face of the organization.  Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl.  At what point should they have cut him loose?  Maybe the guy can't win the big game but if without him you never make it to the big game then what's the point?

I consider a franchise quarterback being someone who you can count on to win big games.  McNabb was never that, and he will never be that.  Your point with Marino is taken, but the people of Miami loved the guy (from what I can remember).  People in Philly have always hated McNabb because they know he doesn't have what it takes.  He had to go.

How can you win big games if you don't ever play in them?  McNabb is a guy you can count on to be productive and has proven if nothing else to be a QB that won't hurt his team.  If you don't believe this look at his td-int ratio as far back as Syracuse.  You may have a point if Philly had this high football standard for championships but last time I checked they've never won one.

I guess my point is as an owner of a team, you have to listen to your fan-base eventually.  Especially when the guy isn't producing.  You're right McNabb isn't going to necessarily lose the game, but that's not going to win a SuperBowl in the NFL.  That's exactly why I have some reservations about Romo getting my Cowboys another ring   :-\

I don't know bro...He's no spring chicken...He's no favre either in regards to durability and longevity...At his age I say get what you can for him...I also say Kolb will suprise some people with his efficiency....I do agree a franchise QB like that is hard to come by but his best years are behind him...when you make a decision like this you cant base it on what the player has done as much as what you think they will do in the future....

Of course time will tell if the players they draft with the picks they acquired makes a difference in how this trade is viewed years down the road....
Title: Re: McNabb traded to the Redskins.

How in the world is the guy not producing?  He may not be the most productive at the position but he is one of the most productive.  Most fans are idiots but Philly fans are even worse.  Some coach once said something like if you listen to the people in the stands, you'll be sitting with them soon.  It is hard to pick a guy that is the most productive player on the team and say he's the weakness or this is a change that can make us better.  Neither Philly or Dallas are a one man team.  No qb in the NFL can get it done all by himself.

Andy is a defensive man.  Even without McNabb they are still a 10-6 . 9-7 out the playoffs in the wild card or 1st round game.  they do save 25-30M over the next 3 yrs or so with out his salary n cap it.  They can add a couple of components to the team.  Vick gives them more movement n the same arm strength.  if he plays smart and gets something back over the next 2yrs...you never know cause the defensive will be there to back him up unlike ATL.

There are several factors at play here, the biggest being that the Eagles are "rebuilding".

1. All of the teams they have cut the most people, also they are now one of the youngest.
2. McNabb is in his last year of his contract, if you are not going to resign him then you have to get something for him.
3. The part that is hard to figure out why keep Vick? The are tons of cheaper back ups out, you could probably get a Jeff Garcia type of player for the vet min.
4. For Washington this is no brainer, Shanahan will get the most of him.

I'm not the biggest fan of his, don't get me wrong, but he finally had a decent set of WR's last year and they were very young.  Given a couple of years together, they would have been great on offense.  And with the 37th pick, they aren't going to get anywhere near a player of his caliber.  I can understand getting max value while you can, but I don't think they did.  Kolb is decent, but I don't think he will step in and be as productive as McNabb...and in the NFL where a franchise can completely turn around in 1 yr, you have to make every move to improve right now, not 3 or 4 yrs down the road.  The window is too small with free agency/

This is actually great for the skins. With Mike as coach and a productive QB at the helm it shakes up that division even more.  I think it is crazy they kept him in the same division though. Eventhough, I could give a shit less. The skins have more than a wildcard chance this year. The cowboy's having Romo will never hit a consistant winning stride and I don't think Phillies D is talented enough to keep Kolb on the field producing consistantly.

Didnt the eagles trade Sheldon Brown away...thats a hit at the CB in my opinon..
And The Browns got better in the secondary with that addition and E Wright on the other side

Philly...Dude Kolb better be an absolute beast. Because if he comes out screwing up..this would be a pretty bad screw up

Other than Chris Cooley, who is McNabb going to throw to?

With D-Jax and Maclin, the Eagles had a seriously explosive offense last season and I didn't foresee much of a drop-off this year.

The real story here is that McNabb didn't want to go to Oakland, which were willing to give up Nnamdi Asomugha - an absolute BEAST at corner - AND the 39th pick to get McNabb.

That's just how bad the Raiders suck.

next year?probably not...2-3 years from now?yes....my opinion is that the eagle will take a small step back next year as a result of this trade along with some other moves...but will then take a big step forward 2-3 years from now....

Is he even on a roster anymore?? I last seen him with the Titans or Raiders but i was laughing at his fat a$$.  8)
I'll keep Jerry looking out for him.    I'd take MW over most of the WR's in the draft.   Especially the OTHER Mike Williams!!!!

look for brent celek to set a record for tight ends for receptions if he can stay healthy, great receiver and kevin kolb's roommate and best friend. look at his catches the two games kolb started.
Celeck is good   but McNabb now has COOLEY!  Yikes!   And Moss!!!!!!   I can honestly say my Boyz have the worst wr corps in the EAST!

They'll trade down, grab a LT and then get Dex Bryant as a receiver.

Bryant's manditory so they better grab him first unless Okung is still around.  The 27th pick will be a looooooong wait.

No   he left us a couple of years back   to Cinci.....oh  you mean the other Roy Williams    oh   yeah  we have him   well he cannot get worst so   I expect BIG TIME from him this year.   We really need a BOMB guy....like Santana Moss and Terry Glenn was ...I like the big wr's  but I miss the bombs.    So Tate or Gillyard will be great.   Or that Ford guy!

Davis and Cooley should create a bunch of match-up problems when they run 2 TE sets....Washington offense could be very explosive.

I am asking myself that same question.   But like Mike Williams, he wasn't ready to go pro so soon.   (Keyshawn tried to tell him that but I guess he had family problems and didn't want to hear KJ's mouth (who would)   But it took Dwayne a while to get used to LA his first yr or so    comming all the way from NJ...once he got settled he was making plays  but he wqas nowhere near as ready as Smith was.   Smith actually WENT TO CLASS and stayed to graduate   unlike Jarrett, Williams, Keyshawn ,   Turner  Soward   aaaauuuugggghhhhhhhhh

He is barely making the roster on the Panthers. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I remember how Keyshawn was happy that he was coming to the panthers and how they were going to party.."Trojan" style and he got cut or released...HAHAHAHAHA!! I think that Damien Williams will have a So-So Career.

I remember that too.   I see Damian being a Crayton  which isn't so bad.   He can burn guys (see the last play vs UCLA) and he can take punts to the house.

I will always laugh at Mitch Mustain..... ;D I thought that his mom would have wrote Pete a letter but she will write Layne a letter now.  ;)

Layne will only let him start if she does what Gump's mother did.  Well he's making Bark earn the starting position now   so its all in the air.   Mitch just picked the wrong place to go to.    He should have just gone to the draft this year.   He's as good as a lot of 5th round guys.
