Title: Humanity is racing toward self-destruction
Post by: ShipSekki on April 05, 2010, 02:04:13 AM
It's interesting to watch isn't it? Witnessing the last decades of humanity. In one way or another, we are doomed for extinction in the near future. It will take a miracle for us to survive this century without a major extinction. There are just too many looming dangers to avoid them all.

It's true though, there are like ten different things coming at us that could kill billions.

People are just too weak willed to face brutal reality, so they lie to themselves. "Everthing's gonna be ok...."  :-\

Nope. Modern technology and overpopulation are causing new problems that we've never faced before.

The world isn't the same place it was 50 or 100 years ago.

i think it's always been this way.  I remember, back in 1982/1983... I was in 1st grade.  Our school would have nuclear attack drills... I was a 6 year old being shuffled (with every other kid in the school) to the basement of our school, to sit against floor with hands over head, preparing for nuclear impact.

It was 27+ years ago, and I remember those drills to this day, if only because they were so damn terrifying.  "If Russia nukes us, you'll be safe in the basement cafeteria."

'hahahahaha dumb america at its finest  '

I'd like to think basement windows were capable of stopping any blast from 1980s-era nuclear weapons.  But I doubt it.

We sure were scared though.  Probably didn't hurt Reagan running against a 'soft on commie' democrat in 1984, if we want to look at this politically.

We will be living in an urban dump by the year 2079, filled with disease, poverty, violence, starvation, and greed.

I would love to see the human race enter a new age of enlightenment and actually work on surviving for the long term. But I just don't think it's in human nature to do that. We are just a bunch of animals, competing with each other and killing each other. Religion and economics inequalities keep us divided, greed is rampant.

Mankind wasn't meant to be anything special. We are just like the algae that forms and dies inside a petri dish. We are nothing special.
