When the people and rogue fundamentalist Islamic nations most likely to use a nuke are not present. Looks like a bunch of civilized and progressed countries talking big but accomplishing nothing. Seems very pointless

the point is that alot of countries have nukes and material that they would like to secure and the risk is not so much an islamic state as a terrorist organization. Loose nukes are a risk to all nation states

the media is trumping this up as a massive success as if there is a threat of a progressed European or North American country using nukes. the only middle eastern fundamentalist muslim country that showed up was Saudi Arabia and yet countries like Syria, Iran, Libya are probably the most likely to try to acquire and use nuclear weapons and they are not even at this conference libya was caught trying to buy a fully functioning nuclear weapon from A.Q. Khan and everyone acts like they stopped actively pursuing nuclear weapons

the fundamentalist muslim countries that are the biggest financiers of terrorism in the world and whose governments are also after nuclear weapons are not present. they are the biggest threat and yet people are busy talking about canada giving America some uranium to hold and process.

so what if they are not present?
should the other nations who are concerned about keeping their own nukes from falling into the wrong hands just sit around and do nothing to secure their own nukes?
-
there isnt much chance of enriched uranium from canada falling into the wrong hands but rogue fundamenalist muslim nations will continue to try to develop nuclear weapons and finance terrorist groups also pursuing them. to play dumb and ignore the most glaring threat to everyone defeats the whole point of the conference. suckers will eat up the accomplishment made by canada sending a couple ounces of uranium to america to hold though
- El Chapo
-
The point is to weaken the United States which is pretty much the sum total of Obamas entire agenda.

many countries have very little security around their nukes (or fissile material) and they know there is a risk that a well coordinated terrorist attack could feasibly gain access to that material. Many countries would like us to come in and just take this shit off their hands
I'm sure you're aware that the US just did this in Chile and secured the material just hours before a massive earthquake hit the country

great assesment ::)
you think inviting 47 countries to meet and talk about securing their nukes (aka - letting us take care of the problem for them) is somehow an attempt to weaken our country
stick to watching your wrasslin videos and jerking off to your fantasy of Rachel Maddow with a strap on (god only knows why that turns you on)

the chances of enriched uranium being stolen in chile are very small. the nuclear weapons most likely to be stolen are in russia and former eastern block countries. these materials and weapons are most likely to be stolen by a islamic terrorist group or fundamentalist rogue islamic country who is chasing after a bomb. both of these issues are being swept aside at this conference and instead everyone is focusing on insginifcant events like canada handing over a few ounces of uranium. seems to be more appeasing of the real enemies i nthe hopes that they will play ball and we all know it wont happen

the 47 countries invited are not the ones trying to develop a bomb and financing islamic terrorist groups trying to steal one. suckers like you are eating up anything the media claims is a accomplishmeant of this waste of time

again - so what?
does that mean we should sit around and do nothing until we can get everyone to show up?

No, it means we should stop the self congratulatory BS and call a spade a spade for once.

Strengh through weakness is not possible.Reagan defeated the Soviet Union, BY HIMSELF, fighting liberal idiots like Obama al the way by building up our nukes.Obama gets in there and tries to rebuild the soviets and their allies by promising we will scrap our nukes. One more step in dismantling this country, just like health care, the stimulus, cap and trade, card check, pay offs to unions, take over of car companies etc etc.

who's self congratulating
all you've done is shit all over it and Obama (nothing new there)
is that what you mean by calling a spade a spade?

the countries trying to develop a bomb and who are also financing islamic terrorist groups were not even invited. what is the point of having a conference about nuclear proliferation when the whole thing was built around ignoring the biggest threat to the world. russian nukes being stolen by rogue islamic nations or terrorist groups are what should be the main point of discussion at this conference. so far it has been swept under the table while they trumpet the acomplishment of america taking a few ounces of uranium from canada to process for them. its just more of the developed world trying to appease the real enemy in the hopes that theyll change their ways but anyone with a brain knows they wont.

wasn't this summit only for those countries who already have nuke and fissile material to discuss ways to secure them and/or dispose of them?

This is but another pathetic media PR stunt by Obama, to make him look as if he’s actually doing something about nuclear threats. The simple fact is that the nations about whom we have to worry having nukes are the same ones that don’t give a you-know-what about treaties or sanctions.

this is what im trying to say. the countries that are the biggest threat and most likely to actually use a nuke once they get it werent invited nor are they even a topic of discussion at thsi conference. theyre too busy talking about canada handing over a few ounces of uranium for processing than actually discussing ways to combat rogue msulim nations who are trying to develop a bomb and financing terrorist groups who are also trying to steal or build one. this conference is a waste of time but suckers are eating it up as an accomplishemnt

all nation states are at danger of loose nukes being used in their country, whether they have nukes themselves or not doesn't matter
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/04/13/nuclear-security-summit-day-2-taking-your-questions
After a series of productive bilateral meetings and a working dinner yesterday, the Nuclear Security Summit continues today with the two major Plenary Sessions. The first day saw significant progress, including work towards consensus on Iran and Ukraine’s landmark decision to get rid of all of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium -- a goal for the United States going back 10 years -- by the time of the next Nuclear Security Summit in 2012.

to think that iran, syria and libya don't have nuclear material on them is foolish. libya was caught red-handed trying to purchase a fully functioning nuclear weapon from A.Q. Khan. ignoring the threat fundamentalist rogue islamic countries and the terrorist groups they finance present defeats the purpose of this conference. suckers keep eating up the accomplishment of american processing some uranium from canada though

Arguing with Straw is like trying to convince to 5 y/o that santa does not exist. After a short while you will just shake your head and move on.
This whole conference is a joke.

of course they do
again so what
should we sit around and do nothing about other countries who have material and want help securing it or forming alliances with countries who don't have it but still face a risk of having a loose nuke detonated, transported or broker through their country

your missing the point. its good that they are doing things but what theyve done does nothing to fix the biggest problem. processing canadian uranium is nice but it wont stop rogue fundamentalist muslim countries trying to develop a bomb and financing terrorist groups that wnat one. it also doesnt do anything to fix the russian nukes that are most vulnerable. why do you tout this conference as successful

first I don't recall having touted it as successful
I don't know if it was a success or not but I don't see any reason to immediately criticize it either
Here are some things that some might considers signs of a progress (already mentioned both before)
There were lenghthy discussions with China about how to deal with Iran. Do you see any value in the US and China trying to have a coordinated approach on dealing with Iran?
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/press-briefing-jeff-bader-nsc-senior-director-asian-affairs
Uknraine also agreed to dispose of it's stock pile of nukes (and I wonder which country will be helping with that)
Do you see any value in this?

I didn't say that had reached any agreement

Maybe because everything we have seen thus far from obama is crap.
