Rua is one of my favorite fighters of all time, so I am definetly playing favorites here-- especially since imo he soundly beat Machida the first time.
But, I can also see Lyoto coming in super focused and ready to dance circles around Rua while peppering him with crazy karate kicks, sumo trips and punches from all kinds of crazy angles.
In this months Fighters Only mag, Rua says emphatically that he got robbed in the first bout and that he feels not pushing the action hard enough in the final round (when both he and his corner felt he was up) is what ultimately cost him the fight.
Rua also described the mystery behind Lyoto's dominance and why he causes other fighters so much trouble. According to Rua everything Machida does from an offensive standpoint is from far away or very close range-- nothing in the middle, which is where most guys have their wheelhouse (including Rua).
Ironically in the same issue, there is a whole story about how bad MMA judging is. Anyone who can get their hands on a copy should check it out.
Anyway-- Im going with Rua by decision.

I think Rua will be more aggressive and get the win this time. I think Lyoto will probably fight the same as he did in the last fight, he really does feel he did enough to win, that kind of arrogance is what costs guys in rematches like this one.

Machida by KO.

I have Lyoto...word is he had a fractured hand in the first fight...
-
Shogun all the way.

yep agreed....I think he lost that first fight regardless...I have him winning the second fight legitimately this time...although I am a shogun fan...I just think machida will figure him out and be 100% this time around...

rua will win....just like he did last time....except this time the UFC will actually allow him the victory...

do you honestly believe that machida won that fight?......i dont, niether do most of the people who watched it....the only reason they are having a rematch is because dana caught too much shit after the fight due to his judges keeping machidas record padded...

The commission hires and runs the judging. Not the UFC.

I don't know if it is corrupted...I would say it is entirely too subjective.
No matter what, if a fighter wants a guaranteed win, never leave it to the judges.

Have you watched any of Dana's videos regarding this fight? From the day of the event he thought Rua got robbed. Why would he "corrupt" the judges? ::)
BTW, I think it was a close fight, but I had Machida winning. You should try watching it without the Rogan commentating and count how many solid strikes each lands, round by round. Again, close, but I give it to Machida.
And by the way, Machida will take the rematch.

It was a close fight I gave the edge to Rua but I think Machida will take the rematch handily....
