Title: Obama-signed law will let militia pack heat at rally in park
Post by: 240 is Back on April 19, 2010, 03:13:48 PM
A few miles from the White House, anti-government protesters will be brandishing guns, rifles, and cartridges of ammunition.

Civil war? Nope. Just an anti-government militia protest in a national park, where activists will be able to legally carry multiple weapons in open sight.

The gun-backers' "Restore the Constitution" rally is set to be the first armed protest in a US national park, held at Fort Hunt and Gravelly Point, Virginia, locales run by the National Park Service. Their target? President Barack Obama and his agenda, health-care reform, climate control and bank bailouts.

It turns out, however, that it's President Obama who actually made their rally possible. In May 2009, he signed a measure allowing Americans to carry guns in national parks into law.

I think we all owe him a thank you for reversing his views that there should be a total hand gun ban  ;) I wonder why he changed his mind...

Ha ha.  I don't think obama envisioned this proclamation being used this way.

I think obama knows that pursuing any typw of gun control now really would make what has been peacful protests turn in to violent skirmishes as more and more people lose it.

Maybe if obama wanted to curry favor w a lot of voters he could push thune's nationwide ccw idea.

i dont think its as much about violence, as it is about losing every single moderate voter, and a nice chunk of lib voters.

There are some hardcore, bedwetting kneepadding libs out there (even some on getbig) that enjoy their guns as well.

There is a large gun nut contingent even on du.

I think they realized how importatn the second amend is during bush as they feared that halliburton and blackwater would be unleashed on them in 2004 and 2008.

I think after the way unarmed ppl were gunned down (in the back) on the streets during katrina, we all kinda realized that it only takes some natural disaster for some private agency to be roaming the streets with zero accountability.

And I'm damn sure the tea party members, conservatives, etc would be just as defiant under a repub president sending contractors to control you, as they would if Obama did it.

Still, I really do'nt worry about that happening - martial law is bad for business $$
Ppl stop paying taxes and running vital services.
