Title: RIP 2001 Ford Taurus SE
Post by: Vince G, CSN MFT on April 19, 2010, 03:32:42 PM
It was a great car and great to drive but it is going out to the pasture as a spare care.  Time to bring in the new Taurus... ;D

Well the local dealership is offering me a 2008 Taurus with 56k miles for $12,900 and I think I'll go ahead and get it.  I'm keeping the other car as a spare car.

I'm just funnin' with you, Vince. I'm not a car guy at all. But, 12-9 would be a good down on a good new car, and you'd get that 5-7 year full-warranty stuff. Just saying.

Go to hand it to Vince. He's a persistent one. Nothing seems to phase him. I give him a lot of props for going out on his own and working for himself. That's not easy. I don't care if he's not making a ton of money or what. At least he can support himself whatever his lifestyle. And He doesn't have to answer to anybody he doesn't want to.

Delusional about his physique though but what the hell. No skin off my scrotum.

Insurance should cover you for a replacement car if you get in an accident or car breaks down

The previous owner got every single option for this Taurus which totaled $39,000 and it was only a 1 year and a half ago that it was purchased but I guess he changed his mind and turned it back in.  Car is still under warranty for another 4 years so I'd be getting a bargain

Let the  people (suckers) who are trying to keep up with the Jones get the brand new car.  That way when they can't afford it and the dealer is stuck in a rock and hard, you can snatch it up for much lower.

Yes, working for yourself is awesome. I did it for 6 years and even on Mondays -- the first day of the work week, I never got down or stressed out. The switch side is you take the stress home and always have to treat your business like it's a baby, non-stop attention 7 days a week all year long. Unless you're filthy rich and actually have room to relax.

People that are not thinking.  If you put in all the options, it runs to about 40k easily.  The Ford Taurus is a beast of a car now.

Insurance is such a farce. A truck dropped a 4x4 piece of wood off that back of it and I drove over it, didn't even see it as it blended in the road and it was sunny. About 5 cars after me hit it also. It split 2 rims and shredded my tires causing about 5 g in damage. It was considered At Fault and my insurance went up of course. What a fukin joke. Even if I saw it I wouldn't have been able to avoid it with cars on both sides of me going 100km on a busy highway.

LOL. That's my fielding pct.  ;D

My point is: cars are no real investment (unless you're getting, like, a Bugatti or Aston Martin DB5.) so get something that will last a full 10 years, and then get another.

I love my Ford Escape.

bought brand new in the fall of 2006, I figure I will drive it for 10 years, 5 of which will be payment free (although there is always the maintainance costs) and then buy a brand new one again.

saving the downpayment will be easy once the monthly payments stop, as I can take most of this money and set it aside for the new one.

nothing beats that new car smell.

except maybe good pussy. but thats another thread 8)

It is a great idea to get a car that you can also rent from Alamo, Hertz or any other place.  If you ever need a part just go rent the car for a day take what you need off of it and replace with your part.  Believe it works.  I wrote a "treatment" and had it sold if I finished it.  Would have made a very funny show

Matt Canning, I may not be rich but I'll be damned if I ever drive that rusted piece of shit with faded paint anywhere.  Car has so many rust spots that it looks like it caught a case of the measles.

There are so many other options in getting a decent car that you should be embarrassed for even going around town with it.  I hope you got yourself another car

Business is booming...and I don't care what anyone else has up here.  D.A ridiculed me on Off Topic Radio about me driving a Taurus compared to his Corvette.  Yet, months later he had to move out of his place because he couldn't afford the rent and make payments to his ride along with losing his contract with GAT.  Now he has to figure out how to make ends meet again which he prob will but he'll have to tone down a bit on the expensive stuff.

I watch my money like a hawk and I don't spend it on things that don't matter and you never know what could happen in your life....especially where I live.  People mostly drive pick up trucks and Mustangs around here...no one gives a sh@#  so why buy a Mercedes when you live in the middle of nowhere.... ;D

Yet another Goodrum dream about what he is gonna do. A guy who watches his money like a hawk doesn't buy two cars.  A businessman like you with a warehouse full of boxes and gym equipment needs a pick up truck and not a Taurus. I guess where you live that car would look good in your trailer park!

Ya, how can you hate a Cadillac? I guess if she's a women then she may lack appreciation for such a class of cars and suv's. I thought about getting the SRX after getting rid of my CTS but too expensive for my budget these days. I had the CTS from 27-32 years old, perfect for that stage of life. Black on black with tint. Have a 300 now. It's ok but it's no Caddy.

Escalades are huge, maybe because she's just used to that and getting something smaller is a big change. Just speculating of course!

It's ok but it's no Caddy.
bro...my mom only drives expensive shit...seriously, she is worse than most men when it comes to her cars...

The 300's are nice though Flexb

ya but there are so many on the roads, at least where I'm from. Chrysler just isn't the same as Cadillac. I have better rims and a custom chrome grill that sets mine apart from most though  ;D

There's a lot here too, just my grill doesn't have that gay Chrysler symbol and is chrome with a mesh style grill compared to the standard shit grills. But yea there are still a lot of similar ones and in the states cars are significantly cheaper so semi nicer cars are a dime a dozen there and are modded out more. It's a nice car, just nothing special and I can admit that. When I first got the CTS, it was when they first came out and barely anyone had them for the 1st year or so. Got tons of love from young and old for that car. Everyone respects a Caddy  8) I really wanted the new model CTS but paying almost a grand a month again wasn't attractive for me anymore. Started thinking more responsibly and had the payments almost cut in half with the 300.

Hey bench can you imagine newmom with a monster truck on a bad day in Texas? You would be getting reports all day of vehicles being crushed it could be similar the OJ chase we saw in LA.   :D

LOL epic posting pics of the top of the line model from 2010 which you don't own, hell you probably don't even have the car you're claiming, pics in front of your trailer or it doesn't exist

You're just mad because I didn't buy your unmarked white van. ;D

Good for you Vince but why keep the old one? All you're going to do with the old car is park it in your yard and forget it (in typical southern tradition ;D). I keep 2 vehicles (commuter car and my new truck) but I actually use both vehicles frequently ;D. Sell that car before it becomes part of your yard  :-\

I call bullshit. Goodrum is always boasting about what he is going to do. Post a photo of this car parked beside your trailer or it didn't happen.

By the way, about your career as a wrestler, well, Venom Vince Versace was to wrestling as Vince G CSN MFT is to bodybuilding. You weren't even a jobber in that hillbilly out of town circuit. There is no record of that character anywhere so this is another one of your made up stories to big note yourself. What a dreamer you are.

Hope this helps.
