Title: HOW LONG COULD RONNIE STAY COMPETTIVE!!!??
Post by: bigkubby on April 20, 2010, 11:49:28 PM
And by competitive I don't mean winning the Mr. Olympia contest, but just doing well as a pro?  With Vince Taylor coming back at 50 it makes me wonder how long the big man can go and still have respectable showings.

It's already all over for him isn't it?

These days isn't he looking like the dough boy with big arms?

Official Reply: As long as he is sponsored by a big company that gives him lots of $$ and forced to compete if he wants to keep it.  ;)

The truth is : As long as he has the money for the drugs and time for training and the desire of competing while he stays healthy and injury free.  ;D

Comparing Ronnie witht the likes or Robby Robinson or Vince Taylor its not a smart choice....

Sorry Ronnie was good till 42 or so , His "receptors" were good while lasted.

He ain't no Albert Beckles, Vince Taylor, or Robbie Robinson. Still have great arms and that's all that's pretty much left on him. Maybe if he decided to go down to MAX 250 pounds he would look decent, but the man is carrying around 285 pounds year round. There is no need for a 5'10" man who is not competing to do that....

At age 50, Vince Taylor placed 11th at the Olympia.  I'm pretty sure Ronnie could do that at the 2014 Olympia if he wanted to.  Even Ronnie's regression still trumps Vince at his best.

Now if you wanted to argue that Vince was better at maintaining his personal best that is one thing; Ronnie compared to previous versions of himself is not as good as Vince compared to previous versions of himself.  But Ronnie objectively compared to Vince is at least as good as Vince Taylor was in 2002 at the same age in my opinion.

I would like to see Ronnie trim down and get healthy looking, I agree with Big Ron has no business walking around near 300lbs

How do you figure, he is still very large and was massive even when he took second in 2006.

He had some nerve damage/torn muscles which fucked up his ability to get in condition properly. It threw his whole body out. He is still massive and he could still be very close to his heyday size but to show up onstage like he used to obviously won't happen again.

Agreed. I also think he was pushing the mass a little too far. If he had slowed down in his last few years and just kept coming in consistent I don't think anyone would have knocked him off his thrown for a good while.
