I'm listening to Back in Day by Ahmad and he mentioned K Swiss, I remember rocking these shoes, and you wanted to keep them, whiter than white...what shoes you all used rock back in the day? Do not include Jordan's...I'm talking Fila's, Lottos, Diadoras, etc
-
Why? because if they get dirty (brown) they're ugly?
RACIST POST REPORTED ;D

That's all I ever wear going to the club. K-Swiss's. Throw on a blue Nautica shirt, Kaiki shorts and I'm ready to roll.

???
You don't get out much do you???

I rocked them from the days of way back.
I was sponsored by K-Swiss due to my tennis playing. You didn't even have to be that great to get a sponsorship with them, you just had to be #1 on your high school team and have a USTA regional ranking of a certain level.
The Classics were my casual sport shoe, and the SI-18 were my gamer shoes.
Funny though, I rocked them from about 1991, and got made fun of all of the time for wearing bobos (didn't wear Jordans after I quit hoops in favor of tennis, as I didn't want to be a poser). Then, they got popular in about 1993, and my boys were like "these are the shit".

ha, well, K Swiss Classics, Reebook Classics, Nike Classics, were all best in white, The Nike's in black, blue, white...
I used to work at Footlocker, and I had a customer that would search for the "pure" whitest Reebok Classics, I'm talking no glue, no spec, no scuff, no dirt on the bottoms, nothing...I had to mismatch shoes just for her. And people in the Washington DC are very particular to their blue New Balance 574s, At one time, and still believe it is true, the biggest market for New Balance running shoes was the Washington DC area.
I used to rock Filas and Diadoras, that was back in the day, like early 90's, never had a pair of British Knights or Lottos
-
Parker, Boris Becker used to be sponsored by both Lotto and Diadora, so before I got sponsored, he was my favorite player, so I used to rock those.

I didn't know that...I remember the shirts, for Lotto, I had a sweet pair of light blue and white Diadoras. Then I siwtched up to Air Flight Lites and Air Max, Then Air Haraches, Reebok Pumps (even the tennis pumps)
-
Parker, I have very narrow feet, so most U.S. companies did not fit me well at all (3 sock minimum to wear--I have a 12 1/2 A width foot).
But the Euro companies have a narrower standard (less fat people), so I always gravitated towards shoes that fit, this meant Diadora (some of the best shoes ever made--their old slogan would interest you "Ferraris for your Feet"--I had a shirt that said that); K-Swiss (SI-18 was one of the longest standing models on the market without a single change) and Lotto (didn't really love these too much for play, as they were very stiff).

Yeah, I noticed that. Nikes and Adidas tend to run half a large bigger, So when I was working at Nike I was a "expert" at converting especially when women wanting the men's versions because they like the colors...usually places like Footlocker use a Mens US size 9 as a display model, if you see something other than a size 9, then that shoe is probably a hot seller, because they had to sell the display model...

His gay club

You took me back on some of those shoe brands. Damn i haven't heard diadora in a LONG time..Didn't MCM have a shoe also?

Yeah, I think so. Remember Roo's? The shows with the zipper? When I was real young I got my first pair of sneakers from Buster Brown's, they were called Zipps.
-

Zipps! OH MY GOD I had a pair of those and swore they made me run faster! Just like the commercial! LOL!
-
Never had anything against homos, but those shoes were for fags. Nigg*s were insane with the way they'd fight over how WHITE their goddamn shoes were.
I still get angry thinking about it. Thanks a lot, Parker!

I rocked these long before Biggie ever graced us on the stage.
And, for the record, I always liked hip hop, but never tried to dress the "part".
We should start an old school hip hop thread.
This thread makes me think about a show I saw at the Electric Factory, Pharcyde and the Souls of Mischief.

I used to rock the Polka dots, like Kwame, had the Polka dotted shirts and one white and one black Reebok high tops. I had the Bib overalls (one strap unhooked), and rocked the 45 degree high top, as well as the Gumby.
I then went the spiritual way with the black African medallions and the East Coast Chucks-aka Adidas Sambas

L O L!!
*instant classic*
Parker - I didn't like it back then, but it was only after I was older that I really discovering my seething hatred for anything which taught 'white love' and all that shit.
Now, love me some white womens, but pretty much hate everything else that's deemed 'white'. That's not strange, is it?
-
Parker, my freshman year of high school is when the overalls hit the scene (1990). I had a pair as well, and may have put the one strap down at times.
So, maybe I was trying to be "down", but that was my limit. I swear.

Your a strange man, in a strange world Tre...Ive always like black, the color...Its the unknown, my reasoning...Why are we afraid of the dark, when we know that the same things are there when the light are off? Well, its because the dark (black) represents the unknown. And also possibly its a encoding in us from the hunter gather days, where the dark is when the "bad" predators came out...
Haha, SilverSpoon....in fact I remember watching that show...
I bet you were listening to ChrisCross and went got some Karl Kani and Cross Colors...
-
Parker, I never EVER went Cross Colors or Kani.
I was always a lover of Polo, and most of my wardrobe was very preppy (Claiborne, Alexander Julian, etc.)
Of course, then Wu Wear came out....wait a second!!!!

Ha, you know everybody made fun of Hammer for having a line, then Wu Wear came out, nobody siad a thing...
I even have a Wu-Tang Comicbook, #0 from Wizard magazine.
-
The best part about Wu-Wear was the promo song.
That was around 1996-97.
-
Who the fuck calls their shoes "kicks"? Anyone that calls them that should be shot or hung from a tree.

Apparently, lots of folks, especially East Coast sneakerheads.
Here is a fairly popular sneaker website that I'm aware of: http://www.nicekicks.com/

I used to have a subscription to Sole magazine, a sneakerphile's bible

Parker, one of my law school friends was a sneaker maniac.
He used to hang outside of certain Philly shoe stores waiting for limited releases.
I used to tell him that he was being very childish, as we were going to be wearing suits and Allen Edmonds shoes soon, and not wearing sneakers when we go out in the city, unless we were just grabbing a beer at a dive bar.
I used to do the same thing, although i have a fetish for Air Rifts...
I have the men's versions of these...http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Womens-Black-Style-315766-021/dp/B0030HQ6N0 (http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Womens-Black-Style-315766-021/dp/B0030HQ6N0)
And I used to go to here...

Why did you like the Rifts?
Seriously.

I thought that they were cool. I have three pairs, all black (white swoosh), all white (black swoosh and strap), but it does feel weird wearing the split toed socks. They are lightweight and good for just causal beach wear or around the house.

Oh, shizzle-nit! You are straight! You can rock those with any type of jeans, shorts, even a sports coat and jeans...those are like Nike Air Force 1s low tops...a classic that can serve multi-purpose duty, the Swiss Army knife of shoes.
-

Hahaha, a REAL club doesn't allow running shoes.
Unless you're talking Bob's Bar and grill BBQ

in my personal experience , you'd be right....if you're black. black dudes can pull off most fashions, no matter how extravagant they are. i just look like an idiot walking around the mall with a stroller and rocking shiny white kicks.
i got a pair of white air max ltd's as a backup. white with blue swoosh and sole.

One of the most comfortable shoes are the Sambas aka East Coast Chucks...
-
Parker, my best friend in high school used to wear the Samba K's, which meant the upper level Samba, made from kangaroo skin. Much softer, so he said.
And, let us not forget one of the best of the "Swiss Army knife" of all tennis shoes: the Stan Smith and the Rod Laver models from Adidas. Great pair of shoes to wear with no socks in the summer time.

Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that in another thread.
Everyone I know has those shoes but me!
