Title: Solution for Illegals?
Post by: 240 is Back on April 23, 2010, 03:09:59 PM
For the sake of argument, let's toss out the option of "Deport all 12 million illegals" - It's not going to happen.  No president or politician from either party is talking about it - it'll never happen.

A possible solution:

1) Declare "Amnesty Day" - Every illegal can register as a citizen, at which point he'she IMMEDIATELY begins paying taxes

2) Bring home 10% of our troops and put them on the border to keep everyone else out.

Thoughts?

DETAIN
DEBRIEF
DEPORT

Give them 90 days to get their shit together and go home.  After that they will be subject to deportation if:

1.  They get convicted for any crime.
2.  They use the ER services of any hospital taking tax dollars.
3.  They attempt to register kids in the school system.

Etc etc.

Implemene IKE's "Operation Wetback" which is and was a proven success.

240 what you dont seem to understand is that simply manning the border isnt going to stop these ppl.

That is only one part of a multiple part solution, there needs to be something done about the ppl in the country NOW illegally...

what are you going to say to those who try to cross the border now..."oops sorry you should have tried to break the law before we manned the border"  ??? ::)

I think any illegal convicted of a crime automatically has extra time tacked on to his punishment.

implement a program that helps immigrants become citizens, making sure they know english and can speak it fluently, know our history, culture, laws...and dont make exceptions when ppl dont meet requirements.

no immigrants are eligible for well fare or other govt assistance for a certain number of years...

just a start more to come

"DETAIN
DEBRIEF
DEPORT"

I agree 100% this is the right idea.  HOWEVER...

Politically, this is not viable.  You don't have to take my word for it.  Ask yourself why no one in any party is pushing this idea.  It's not going to happen.  Period.

Operation Wetback was a 1954 operation by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to remove about one million illegal immigrants from the southwestern United States, focusing on Mexican nationals[1].

[edit] History
Burgeoning numbers of illegal Mexican immigrants prompted President Dwight D. Eisenhower to appoint his longtime friends, John Cox and General Joseph Swing, as INS Commissioner. According to Attorney General Herbert Brownell Jr., Eisenhower had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration upon taking office. In a letter to Sen. William Fulbright, Eisenhower quoted a report in The New York Times that said, "The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican 'wetbacks' (rooted from the watery route taken by the Mexican immigrants across the Rio Grande) to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government."[2]

The operation was modeled after a program that put pressure on citizens of Mexico to move back to Mexico during the Great Depression because of the bad economic situation in the United States. (See Mexican Repatriation.)

[edit] Operation Wetback in action

The effort began in California and Arizona and coordinated 1075 Border Patrol agents, along with state and local police agencies, to mount an aggressive crackdown, going as far as police sweeps of Mexican-American neighborhoods and random stops and ID checks of "Mexican-looking" people in a region with many Native Americans and native Hispanics. In some cases, illegal immigrants were deported along with their American-born children, who were by law U.S. citizens. [3] 750 agents targeted agricultural areas with a goal of 1000 apprehensions a day. By the end of July, over 50,000 immigrants were caught in the two states. Around 488,000 illegal immigrants are claimed to have left voluntarily for fear of being apprehended. By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and the INS estimates that 500,000 to 700,000 had left Texas on their own. To discourage re-entry, buses and trains took many deportees deep within Mexico before releasing them. Tens of thousands more were deported by two chartered ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried them from Port Isabel, Texas, to Veracruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles (800 kilometers) to the south. Some were taken as far as 1,000 miles. Deportation by sea was ended after seven deportees jumped overboard from the Mercurio and drowned, provoking a mutiny which led to a public outcry in Mexico.[4]

240, they're not going to pay taxes either way.  For that to happen they would have to stop taking jobs for under min wage.  Even if they were getting over min wage for what they were doing they're not going to want that cut and the person employing them still won't want to add them as official employees.  If we're talking about he portion of them that are working illegally they're going to keep the status quo with those employing them.  the problem is not so much with the illegals as it is with employers and politicians playing the issue to their benefit and failing to do what is needed.

Hahaha, fat luck trying that. Where now when calling the automated number for many banks you have to press #2 for English, corporation want their money so its "Si", amd many refuse to learn English, because many are illiterate in their own language. So if they don't know how to read or right in their own language, think how hard it will be to learn another/ Also many don't care about this American culture...Mexicans themselves are very nationalistic, they are Mexican and not American. And some (I had this issue) believe that United States of AMerica includes Central AMerica as well...you see the thinking...Its "eff American laws", "Eff you."
