On paper, i think they are one of the top 3 teams in the NFL. Talk about a busy off season, they basically have the save team that took them to the AFC championship game and they acquires:
Ladanlian Tomlinson
Antonio Cromartie
Jason Taylor
Santonio Holmes
and this new CB they snatched in the draft.
I think they will at least win their division this year, perhaps even make it to the AFCCG
thoughts?

Cromartie is the only one out of that bunch I'd be real excited about. Taylor is still a pretty good player but he'll be 36 I think this year. Tomlinson I fear is washed up but he'll be a great backup. I do agree they have a good team though, at least on paper.

They also just signed Donovan Warren - CB out of MICHIGAN. :)

Hopefully Cromarties' personal problems don't come into play here. He is already starting to go down hill IMO. A diva the chargers didn't want any longer.

In the playoffs, shit just fell their way. I'd be shocked to see that happen again. As much as I hate to admit it, the pats will be dangerous this year... I hate them.

stop drinking the kool-aid! all of the moves have not been for the best
letting Thomas Jones go was/is a mistake. What made the Jets effect was the ground and pound game. Last year we were the #1 rushing team, which means that Sanchez would threw at most 15 times per game. We could have kept Jones for 1 more year. No ones knows what LT has left in the tank but at this stage of their careers' TJ is better for the Jets than LT.
I can't really comment on trading Lean for a 5th round pick except that they must feel like he won't recover from his leg injury.
also what does the Jason Taylor have left in tank? who knows. I just feel like we got away from the running game. I hope that I am wrong

X2. The got a 2nd year QB who's ok and should be better than last year but at the same time, coordinators will know what to do against him. He's not Manning or Brady, let's take it easy with the SuperBowl talk.

As said, Jones ran for 1400 yards last year, and Sanchez had to have the playbook simplified after throwing 4 ints to the same player in NE. He threw 12 tds and 20 ints over the course of the season, last year. Those numbers are putrid.
The Jets did luck into the playoffs. They were really a .500 - sub 500 team who lost most of their games down the stretch. Their last two wins cam against teams who pulled all their starters.
The Jets have a lot talent and I really like the moves they made for Holmes and Cromartie. That said, locker room chemistry might be an issue for this team. There is a reason the Steelers let Holmes go for next to nothing. Same thing goes for the Chargers getting rid of Cro, asap. The Steelers and the Chargers are not stupid teams...where there is smoke ther is fire. Add the distractoin of hard knocks and you could have a recipe for disaster.
Letting Jones go was stupid. He rushed for 1400 yards last year and that hole is not going to be filled easily. The LT move was crap, he's done and he is another "me-me" guy. They just cut Faneca (who is a pro bowl player) and lost Washington (who was great in the return game). They gave Jason Taylor x2 times what he made last year and Taylor hasnt done shit in three years.
Lastly, the Jets have to beat the Pats, Dolphins and Bills 2 times each this year to assure themselves the Division. The Jets have a lot of talent. They are at a fork in the road. It all depends on Sanchez. Saying they are sb favorites is premature.
Thats the truth.
AFC Favorites this year = the Raven and or Colts.
Pats always in the mix and depending how the players they drafted shake out, they could make a run, too. Bengals = wildcard.

I agree...nothing is guaranteed and SB talk of ANY team is just silly...it NEVER shakes out the way you think it will.
But I do think the Jets are a bonafide GOOD TEAM at this point and will be a factor. They can play some fucking DEFENSE, and that won't change this year

Yup...the thing about defense is it shows up every week, regardless of weather, dome etc....
And the Faneca cut tells me that Ryan is a results guy...he doesn't hold on to "name" guys because of who they are...He's a bit of a douche, but he seems to have a plan

I'm not a fanboy...but the Jets seem to be a good organization these days that has a clue.
As for Sanchez...that's just a stupid statement. He's going into his second year, he will only improve....you talk as if he's a 10 year vet and there is a "book" on him
