Title: Good proteins
Post by: SilverSpoon on April 25, 2010, 02:15:46 PM
What are some of the best protein powders on the market?
In the past, I have used most of the top name brands (MetRx, EAS, Nature's Best, MuscleMilk, Dorian Yates Pro Peptide--probably the best nutritional profile, etc.), but I am looking for a nice complete protein.  It does not have to be 100% whey isolate, as I truly don't feel that whey isolate is the best protein to have in the morning, at night, or as snacks.
Personally, I have always felt that whey is primarily used for pre and post workout due to the quick uptake, but hey, that could all be "bro-science" as folks like TA have called it.

In the last couple of years, I haven't been training as seriously, and also wanted to rely on more whole food sources.  However, due to the training desire and the fact that my job schedule is hectic, I need to start utilizing supplemental protein as a necessity.

I appreciate your responses.

TA, I understand what you are saying, however, when I am in court or in depositions, I do not have time to stop at a fast food place.

That is why I was asking the question.

Believe me, I am not one of those guys that believes you can only get lean by eating whey, oatmeal, grilled chicken, etc.

Although I do need to get leaner.
Muscle Milk?

Some of the most overpriced crap I've ever come across.  Makes Maxx Muscle brand stuff looks reasonable...   :-\

Not denying that, but the Pro GF is some of the best pre-workout around. We actually use the MuscleMilk Collegiate for post workout.

The ingredients in the stuff you posted seem good, the price is just way too high.  Optimum Nutrition's pro complex is better and much cheaper.  I looked at MM Collegiate once, but from what I remember, the protein content was too low for my needs.
