Allan Donnelly on PBW tonight, talking about all the various contract changes:
In regard to the Cutler situation, he mentioned Cutler was looking for a contract extension for 2010 which would have allowed him to NOT HAVE TO COMPETE.
Does this mean Jay won't be doing the O this year?
I remember him answering Qs right after the O, saying something about fulfilling his duties but not outright confirming he'd do the show, if I recall correctly.
Anyone think Jay will sit out the O this year? If so, why?
-
With the real estate market still in termoil I think he will
-
if that true thats a might be a real bad move on jays part......or it could be a very good move....i dont know if he took a whole year off since the 90, or maybe not even then
there is a chance the sport will pass him by, but also a good chance to give his body a rest
if i were a betting man, i would have my money on seeing jay on the olympia stage this year
-
I'm going to take the long shot and be the first to predict
JAY WILL NOT DO THE 2010 MR OLYPMIA CONTEST
:)
-
I think Jay is a shoe in for the top spot and most definitely WILL compete ;D

he has too much to lose, the sport passes you by quick........particularl y now that he isnt in the weider camp
he sits out, then kai or phil get in , he might have a hard time getting it back
-
Maybe he just doesn't want to go through with the brutal regimen of diet, drugs, diuretics, etc. etc. etc. I can see why they would want to take a year off sometimes.
-
Every guy out there that could challenge Jay has to come in 120% while Jay just has to come in 95% to take it. I wouldn't understand why he did all the promoting this year for nothing

what your saying is INCORRECT....PBW didnt say anything about him looking not to compete in 2010
-
the guest said it - AD, I believe. Said it was part of the contract requirements Jay was looking for.

your correct, im wrong
they spoke about jay twice, once in the beginning, then once with AD
my fault
-
who cares
-
Why does he need to compete still? He dominated last year, perfect time to give it up.
-
when was the last time the fridge showed up two years in a row in shape? he's trying to avoid getting his fat ass handed to him again
-
You guys are overlooking the obvious. Jay has no shot of winning another Olympia while under a MD contract. As silly as this is, it is the truth nonetheless.
So.... unless Jay wants to just try and shoot for a 2nd or 3rd place victory, just to score a pay-check, then there is no point in him taking any more toll on his body, as he has already accomplished everything he set out to do.
Honestly I think he has been down the road of retirement, for a while now, and his Current gig at MD, is just a way to milk out some money before exiting the scene completely,
-
Actually, what Allan said was that Jay was looking for a 3 year contract with no clause to compete for the duration of that contract, there was no mention of 2010 in particular.
Anything I've seen, Jay does plan to compete at this year's Olympia.

Jay Cutler came to the 2010 NPC Orange County Muscle Classic, and guest posed, much to the delight of the 1,000+ crowd who was at hand. Even offseason, the current Mr. Olympia is still huge and impressive. At the mic, Jay said he will win that coveted 4th Sandow trophy. Here are some pics, with more to be on bodybuilding.com in a few days.

You never know, Jay could just be simply thinking about his health and longevity.

Jay realizes that he won't be able to top, or even match his 2009 physique this year, so he's calling it a day. He wants to be remembered for going out on top and not coming in less than what he was last year. My prediction is he doesn't show and it's the last we will see of Jay onstage. I'm glad. He was a fridge.

I think that Jay knows the competition will be very tough this year and does not want to lose, especially after coming back and winning the O again.
What would prevent him from appearing at least in the same condition as last year?
For years it looked as if Jay would always be very blocky and never lean but his 2009 condition was spot on. Don't know if it was training, nutrition, drug cycle or whatever but obviously he found something that worked for him.
The only reason he couldn't do it again is health reasons (maybe his last year contest cycle was very harsh for example and doesn't want to go that extreme again), because he's definitely not lazy to ease on the training.

wolf will win this year!
-
beginning of the end for Jay. He knows what's up. He probably once to do it once more and bounce.

Your prediction that he "doesnt show"... how would the world's top bodybuilder do that? What would his announcement be?
-
maybe heath offered jay half the prize money if he wins this year O :D

Maybe prior to the show he'll suffer an unfortuante accident.
Getting car jacked by a gang of ninjas might leave him injured thus unable to compete.
-
I dunno... something like that could be faked in the magazine era.
Today, I think a guy would be mocked by pulling a "ninja" story beyond belief. It was easier for a magazine to sell that story back then.. wouldn't fly in the message board era.
