Title: I need to know what secrets you are hoarding for hand and feet positions
Post by: ronbrgundy on May 05, 2010, 07:59:05 PM
When i do calf exercises I have a tendency to point my toes slightly outward.  I tried pointing them inward slightly and felt a different part of the muscle being hit.  Is this a legitimate training opportunity I stumbled across?  I.e. its not just some way to injure myself?  I would never want to mess around with my squat technique to give an example.  The technique I use now is solid and changing it would probably be more likely to lead to injury than gains.

Lastly are there any secrets you guys are holding out on that relate with hitting the muscle a different way quite simply by changing your hand or foot position etc

That different feeling in calf work is more a result of rolling on a different part of the foot during the raise.

Toe position usually facilitates this difference, but it can also be accomplished with the feet positioned parallel by shifting more of your weight across the inner or outer edge.

I have always had large calves. I do work them, but they always seem to stay the same size no matter how hard, how often, how un-often, etc., etc., I train them or don't train them.

Iv'e seen some guys move up to the National level without great calves, but eventually it hurts them.. and there doesnt seem to be anything they can do.

I've heard that site-injections hurt so bad it aint worth it. On the other hand, I've seen delts "improve" due to excessive site injection, not the extra work.

Have I gotten off-topic here? Sorriness.  ???

You can always tell when its close to my bedtime. I get stupid n' shit.
