Egyptians with Israeli wives to lose citizenship

A court in Egypt is to rule next month on whether Egyptian men married to Israeli women are to be stripped of their citizenship, a judicial source told AFP.

“The High Administrative Court will issue its verdict in June,” the source said, in a case that highlights Egyptian sentiment towards Israel, more than 30 years after an unpopular peace deal was signed with the Jewish state.
A lower court ruled last year that the interior minister must look into the cases of Egyptian men married to Israeli women, and their children, in order to “take the necessary steps to strip them of their nationality.”
The interior and foreign ministries appealed the case, saying it was for parliament to decide on such matters.
Nabil al-Wahsh, the lawyer who took the case to court in the first place, told AFP that “Egyptian nationality law warns against marriage to anyone characterised as Zionist.” He said authorities refused to provide the exact number of Egyptian men married to Israeli women, but according to him the number is thought to be around 30,000.
“The majority are married to Israelis considered Zionist, and only 10 percent are married to Arab Israelis,” Wahsh said.
Thousands of Egyptians, particularly a large number who lived in Iraq and returned after the 1990 Gulf War over Kuwait, moved to Israel in search of work and married Israeli women.
In 1979, Egypt became the first Arab country to sign a peace deal with Israel.

That's almost as messed up as Canada's laws regarding Official Native status.
If a native status man marries a non-native woman, he is able to keep his native status and if memory serves me correctly, his wife and any subsequent offspring from such a union will have official native status as well. If however, a native status woman marries a non-native man, the woman loses her official native status and neither her husband nor any subsequent offspring from such a union are permitted official native status.

If Israel does anything remotely close to this to Egypt or any other nation, then Israel is an evil, oppressive state. But since it's Egypt doing it to Israel, the the world is okay with it. ::)

Israel was doing this long ago and is worst than a suppressive state...you a jew?...where the hell have you been? Where do you think the Egyptians got it from? If a Israeli man marries a white woman the off spring are not deemed Israelis. There was a horrendous case of this a couple years back that made news when a Israeli woman married a white man and moved to Israel. The husband was given all manner of difficultly with citizenship, but eventually was allowed. They had a child and were where involved in an accident that cost the child its life. When they went to the cemetery to bury the child A PRIEST STOOD IN THEIR WAY AND SAID YOU CAN NOT BURY THAT CHILD HERE BECAUSE IT IS NOT A JEW!!!!! Imagine on the day of a funeral this is what you are told. The couple had to make all manner of arrangements to have the child buried elsewhere. There is more discrimination in Israel than anywhere else in the world, but you know the zionist controlled papers and press try hard to keep such information suppressed....
