If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.
That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.
Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

I hope they do..that would be great. Let's see..if someone is in the process of committing a crime, they can be asked to prove if they're here illegally. Boy, that is so oppressive. How dare someone question a suspected criminal's legal status? They should be..not only allowed to come here illegally..but also commit crimes without having to prove they're citizens. How terrible of Arizona! Wow, the world has turned Bizarro. Everything is upside down and makes no sense. When a US president shows more support for illegal aliens than the US citizens of Arizona, you know the American empire is on the verge of collapse. I only hope the decent people of this country wake up and take some sort of action.

Watch how fast the US military gets involved and turns this situation into a MARTIAL LAW agenda if Arizona tries turning off water to California. Or worst California attacks Arizona over this. I would not put it past any state to go military given their desperation now.

nothing but a bunch of hot air talk. but FOX ate it up, so that guy is happy.

LMAO and what is the LA "boycott"???
fact is LA contracts arizona utility companies
fact is arizona can revist these contracts, you think that ppl boycotting arizona wont effect the power usage? what if it raises the rates that the utility company needs to charge to stay profitable?
-
240 must be working for OFA or something.
-
LA Boycott = also a load of hot air.
The LA people are doing it to coddle to their lib, illegal loving base, and msnbc loves covering it.
The AZ folks are going it to coddle to their repub, illegal hating base, and fox loves covering it.
Make sense to you?

sure does, what doesnt make sense is how a "life long conservative" points one out but not the other ;)
-
nobody said "hey 240, what do you think is the motive of the LA folks"?
If you had, I would have happily pointed out that EVERY SINGLE BILL and EVENT has groups that try to capitalize by taking idiotic positions for media attention.
-
Last I read, LA was on the verge of bankruptcy and forcing city employees to take days off without pay. Why is this guy worrying about other areas of the country when his is a massive failure?

Pure diversion.
And I think it would be awesome if AZ actually did this.

but you gave your biased opinion regardless....
didnt see you give the same opinion in the LA boycott threads...hmmm wonder why? ::)

Exactly, don't the morons in California realize how much money illegal immigration has cost them and they're already bankrupt?

Gov. Jan Brewer on Obama: “It’s Fair to Ask Whether He Intends to Be the Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief” (Video)
Posted by Jim Hoft on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 8:24 AM
Woah! Another home run for popular Arizona Governor Jan Brewer!
…And, another headache for the political hacks running Washington and America into the dirt.
Governor Jan Brewer DEMOLISHED Team Obama on Saturday for their divisive racial politics and for intentionally misleading the American public on Arizona’s new immigration law. Brewer took a shot at Obama’s comedy routine:
“It’s fair to ask whether he intends to be the Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief. Since the president’s joke was so inappropriate, I suppose, if I wanted to join in the comedian game, I could suggest that he should not give up his day job. Unfortunately, though, he isn’t doing very well at that one, either.”
Ba-da-Bing!
Governor Brewer was sensational:
KNXV reported:
In launching a Web site aimed at educating the United States on Arizona’s controversial illegal immigration law, Governor Jan Brewer (R-Ariz.) took umbrage with the president’s joke at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The event is an opportunity for its speakers to make light of politics, and President Barack Obama did so with Arizona’s immigration law:
“We all know what happens in Arizona when you don’t have ID — adios, amigos.”
It was this joke which became the target of Gov. Brewer’s address regarding new steps the state government is taking to promote the law on a national level.
“It’s fair to ask whether he intends to be the Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief,” Gov. Brewer said. “Since the president’s joke was so inappropriate, I suppose, if I wanted to join in the comedian game, I could suggest that he should not give up his day job.”
“Unfortunately, though, he isn’t doing very well at that one, either,” she added as her punchline. In the context of the Correspondents’ Dinner, Mr. Obama’s joke may not be seen by some as “so inappropriate.” Gov. Brewer does not see the issue of border security as a joking matter, regardless of context.
Hat Tip Brian B.
Governor Brewer and Sarah Palin also announced the launch of the Secure the Border website. The website is aimed at “educating” the nation “and some political leaders in Washington” on the state immigration law in Arizona.

I love how idiots summon the name of Bush in order to try to justify Obama.
Didn't Obama run on the premise of change? Well, he needs to be different compared to Bush, and Clinton, and Bush Sr and Reagan and all the other presidents that did nothing regarding the border.
It was wrong for Bush to do nothing and to even think about amnesty for all the immigration criminals. It is wrong for Obama to even think about doing the same thing. It seems that Obama, when it comes to his policies, mimics Bush a lot. If Bush was considered a horrible president, what does that make Obama?
Obama is a failure. Huge one at that.

A failure? He and this admn is a DISASTER.

LADWP To Arizona: ‘Suck It, We Actually Own Your Power Plants’
http://wonkette.com/415530/ladwp-to-arizona-suck-it-we-own-your-power-plants (http://wonkette.com/415530/ladwp-to-arizona-suck-it-we-own-your-power-plants)
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power general manager Austin Beutner just delivered a very quick, very brutal public response to some Arizona energy commissioner’s jackass threat to cut the electricity flowing from that racist state to LA. It is terse and kickass, and you must read it, in its entirety.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
General Manager’s Statement Regarding LADWP Power Generation Assets in Arizona
“I want to make clear that we support the City position regarding the recent law enacted in Arizona and the resolution adopted by the Los Angeles City Council.
On any given day, we receive 20 – 25% of our power from two power plants located in Arizona: Navajo, a coal-fired plant, and Palo Verde, a nuclear plant.
We are part owner of both power plants, which are generating assets of the Department. As such, nothing in the City’s resolution is inconsistent with our continuing to receive power from those LADWP-owned assets.
I might add that, as the City’s Job Czar, I certainly would welcome any conventions or meetings that were going to be held in Arizona to come to Los Angeles. We have fantastic facilities and incomparable weather and we’d welcome them to the City of Angels.”
- Austin Beutner, General Manager, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power

Los Angeles is not in a position to be threatening anyone with anything.
-
Why didn't Obama's predecessor secure the border? Valid question.
You're right on this one. For you people that think that agreed and defended Bush on everything, this was one of the issues that really pissed me off about him. The borders should have been secured along time ago.
-
LMAO so they are part owner huh? are they majority owner? hmmm doubt it,
but I though LA was boycotting Arizona? I guess just in words not in actions?
I doubt it comes down to anything but Id really like arizona to cut their power...
-

bingo.
-
This was Bushs' biggest failure as a president. After 9/11, he should have shut the damn border.
It always struck me that he was playing russian roulette with us in that respect just to appease the NWO crowd and it pissed me off to no end.
