Orszag on tough job market for college grads: They “graduated at the wrong time”

Ten months after graduating from Ohio State University with a civil-engineering degree and three internships, Matt Grant finally has a job — as a banquet waiter at a Clarion Inn near Akron, Ohio.
“It’s discouraging right now,” said the 24-year-old, who sent out more than 100 applications for engineering positions. “It’s getting closer to the Class of 2010, their graduation date. I’m starting to worry more.”
…
The graduates’ plight has been the subject of high-level discussions within President Barack Obama’s administration, which so far has concluded the best response is to focus on reviving overall employment and bolstering assistance for higher education, said Peter Orszag, the White House budget director.
“What’s clear is that there is harm to those who graduate at the wrong time through no fault of their own, which is one reason why it is so important to improve the jobs market,” Orszag said. “That is the bottom line here.”

Don't you feel better now?
These morons and idiots voted for this, so deal with it. This will be their first life lesson that voting for a communist who makes it harder on employers to hire people usually wont work out too well.

So now you're blaming our entire economic situation on Obama?
You're literally insane and obviously forgot the 900 billion (much more actually) that Bush signed over to the banks with ZERO accountability. Oh yea, the market crashed before the election. Oh yea, the TARP money is completely gone with no one knowing where it went.
Seriously, get a grip dude, the problems of this country go WAY beyond who's sitting at the head chair. You suffer from what almost every other person in this country suffers from: political blindness. You think that political parties actually matter and that the president is the one who's actually in charge.
Wake the fuck up! The problems are much deeper than one man, who in fact, has very little to do with the problems we're facing.
-
He is making things DRASTICALLY worse.
BTW - Obama campaigned for TARP and appointed the key guy on that Geithner, as head of the Treasury.
So, GMAFB on that.
Its the policies of this Admn that are looming like the Sword of Damocles that makes employers fear for their lives and refuse to hire anyone.
Cap & Trade
ObamaCare
Repeal of Bush Tax Cuts
Card Check
Bailout Bill
Spending like there is no tommorow etc.

Most economists actually believed TARP worked.Compared to the fool ass stimulus it has worked great.

GMAFB? I'm not up on my internet acronyms...
I'm not blindly defending him, but putting the entire blame on him as you do in pretty much all of your posts is just blind prejudice. In fact, I agree with some of your points, mainly in regards to the administration, because they are the ones who are causing most of the damage. Obamcare is a right wing farce. Pelosi penned that bill and pushed it through, Obama signed it, but had little to do with it other than that. I think that bill is going to be one of the most damaging (economically) bills of our time.
Cap & Trade - American Clean Energy and Security Act, which is what Cap & Trade is now, is a complete load of shit, I could write a novel on how many holes are in this thing and it's basically just opens a dirivitives market for carbon offset trading.
Repeal of Bush Tax Cuts - Bush tax cuts were for the wealthy top percent of the country, were you effected by it? No.
Bailout Bill - Not even close to being the real part of what's damaging our economy. I don't agree with it one bit, but it's not the real issue at hand.
Spending like there is no tommorow etc. - Bush administration was doing the same thing, you do recall Bush entered office with a budget surplus and left with a massive deficit.
My point is you are harping at the surface issues when there are much deeper problems going on. I admire your convictions, but you are wasting your efforts on minuscule "problems" that at the end of the day aren't important to the overall big picture.

Elizabeth Warren disagrees vehemently. You've got to be smoking crack if you believe that shit was effective whatsoever. I'll take her word over some economist from Goldman Sachs saying how effective it was receiving tax payer money to pay off debt that was created out of thin air to begin with.

Obama campaigned on the fact that Bush destroyed the economy and that he had all the answers. So in my mind, it is completely fair to asses the impact of decisions he has made from Day 1 as to whether said decisions:
1. Have helped.
2. Have hurt
3. Are exactly the same as Bush (Whom Obama still bashes daily)
Remember, the very first thing he did was push a $786 Billion Stim Bill to keep UE under 8%. Now that the UE is 10% and the stim bill is $868 Billion, he bears no blame for that?
Per the employment situation, any rational employer would not hire anyone right now and would greatly pair down expenses, as has occurred for the past two years. Why? Because they know that the policies of this admn are 1) making things worse, and 2) will leave them with less $ $ $.
Finally, at what point does this admn take responsibility for anything?

Considering the banks have paid or are in the process of paying bavk the money given to them by TARP Id still say it was FAR more effective then the stimulus was which hasnt created ONE job.700 BILLION flushed in the toilet.
-
its not a good time to be looking for a job right now?
hmmmm no shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why isnt job creation and the economy the number one priority? why did it ever stop being the number one?
-
Because Obama wants it this way. I have said it from day one.
He wants to intentionally collapse the nation to usher is worlwide socialism where people are begging for the govt to take everything over.
This dirtbag is throwing mega galas at the WH, do you think he actually gives a rats ass about you or anyone else?
His freaking illegal aunt is living in public housing, his brother in hut in Kenya, and you actually think he cares whether a few broke crackers cant pay their bills?

The majority of TARP money is still unaccounted for, transparency of where the money went is completely out the window and the actual infusion of cash has been questionable at best in subverting any financial crisis that we were originally told would happen. It's just the tip of the iceberg really but still an important issue that should not be ignored.

Yes! Bush, Obama, they are all the same. All politicians should be fired with the exception of Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura.
